Hello,

I designed a website on Wix.com, upgraded the site to premium and assigned it a domain. I'm supposed to change something in the DNS settings or something like that, so the site can be found on Google search. The thing is that the DNS option should appear at the domain options and is not showing. It says the site is live, and anyone can access to it.

I still don't understand what this DNS thing is and I can't seem to find the reason why this thing is not showing. It also says I got the site from GoDaddy, which I didn't, I always used Wix, so I'm confused with that as well.

I'll ad screenshots, just in case.

Hi Liam,

So I'm going to start out by saying I've never created a site in Wix or anywhere really but do IT for a medium size business and work with some of these terms.

DNS is what translates an IP address into a URL.  It allows you to put in https:\\elliquiy.com into a browser and get to the actual site.

I did find this from a google search that might help get your website searchable: https://support.wix.com/en/article/enabling-search-engines-eg-google-to-find-your-site

As for why it says from GoDaddy, I'm guessing that is who is hosting your domain.  Did you buy your domain through Wix?

Hopefully this helps.

Thank you for explaining what a DNS is, Quixote. I checked the link and I've already enabled the Google search when I first started with this.

I did buy my domain thought Wix, and something really confuses me because at some point, when you're about to assign a site to the domain it says "You can check your purchase invoice to see who you bought your domain from" My invoice clearly says I bought it from Wix.

I figured that you might have done that already but wanted to include it.

The invoice you posted here says Connect Domain.  Again I've not purchased a domain before from Wix but feel that it should say purchase domain instead of Connect Domain.

One thing that you can do is try an independent Domain Lookup tool to see who owns the domain registration:
https://whois.domaintools.com/
https://lookup.icann.org/

My guess is that it will say GoDaddy from what you've posted already and the purchase you've made was to connect a domain and not register a new domain.  In that case I'd try and reach out to Wix support and see if they can help figure out how that happened.

Good luck.

I'll try! Thank you again!

You're welcome, hope you can get it working.

I managed to fix the issue! Though I had to talk to GoDaddy's support. The site should be working in about 48 hours.

Great.  I'm glad that you were able to get if fixed.
