First, before I say anything else...

This is not a thread to debate the ethics of abortion.

I say again...

This is not a thread to debate the ethics of abortion.

If you want to talk about whether it is morally right or wrong (or what have you), please just make another thread for it and debate that in there. I'm trying to actually learn some stuff, here. Now to get on with this thread's actual purpose:

Ladies, if you are comfortable imparting what you know on abortion... I would like to know more about what processes are involved with it, if there is any to speak of. Now, you don't have to get uncomfortably specific or overly personal. I am mostly just looking for stuff like "Well, first you gotta check with your doctor... then [insert law stuff], then after all that? Abortion can happen!" I am more interested in the journey getting there (if there is one) as opposed to the actual procedure itself once she gets there. How easy or difficult is it? Or how simple or complex did it used to be? Or was it ever easy? Is it always complicated? What does a woman have to do to have one done (if she is in a state that would let her do that)? What sort of complications might she have in such a process (legal legwork, medical stuff, etc.)? Things like this I think are helpful for me to know so I can understand it better. I don't know if I can ever relate to it, but I might be able to understand it.

I am more than likely going to take a backseat in this thread and simply just read for obvious reasons. There isn't really much I can really impart (beyond just asking questions if they ever come to me). Any other linked resources on the subject matter can also be helpful for me to read up on, but a women's point of view (directly) might also be just as helpful.

Ehh... that is not to say that men aren't allowed to participate in this thread (or ask their own questions). But I'd advise... some... care?

I don't have much to add to this thread on a personal level - I've never personally considered ending a pregnancy.  However, I do know that the decision, the 'journey' (as you put it) and the aftermath are intensely personal and often traumatic events in a woman's life.  I am certain that the legal and medical requirements are available with a little search-engine poking for any state, province, or country that you might be interested in, and would suggest that be your first line of research, rather than suggesting that other people educate you through their own pain.

Why is this in the debate/PROC section if there's not going to be a debate? And what do you hope to understand by asking women intensely personal questions like "Was it ever easy?" This just seems like a bizarre thread. There are tons of first hand accounts on this topic online if you're seriously interested in knowing more. Have you already tried that? If yes, what have you understood so far? It almost feels like you created this as a "community participation" stunt.

And what is this condescending line supposed to mean? The abortion decision is often a woman's and her man's. But how nice of you to advise... some...care.

I have had threads moved here because they chance on controversial topics, even if they are just questions. And if that is the tone you read, I can't really say anything about that.

To cure ignorance, one must first begin by asking questions. They might be trying to consider feelings unknown to them while being even more unaware of others. But that sort of response only aids the symptoms of the unknown whilst discouraging others to ask the questions to remedy them.

In other words, how would you know if no one has told you?

As for simply googling it? Sure, I could do this. And I have been. Already, I am dreading the flood of reddit stalking on my device and the spider web that leads me to consume media that is potentially harmful.

But sense it wasn't good to ask questions either, I guess I just won't ask them. I apologize if this was too uncomfortable for me to ask.

I would definitely avoid Reddit, purely based on the 'stalking' aspect.  However, places like Planned Parenthood and state health websites would be better-curated sources of information.

That might be helpful to start. My thanks!
