The Highlights: Grown Up and Saving The World [Interest Check]

London Tipton was doing her favorite thing… shopping… alongside her favorite person, Richie Rich. The two had been dating for three years now and she could tell something was bothering him. London didn’t know why Richie got this way, one would almost think that an insane amount of money couldn’t buy happiness.

“A billion pennies for your thoughts," she asked.

“I was just thinking,” Richie answered with a sigh. “There just seems to be more I could be doing.”

“Well, we could go looking at jewelry after this, “ offered London, Her suggestion wasn't quite what Richie was looking for.

“No, I mean to make the world a better place,” he explained. “I have all these advantages and resources but everything seems so… broken. No matter how much I give to charity, nothing really changes.”

“So change it,” said London.

“How?”

“I know from running my own businesses, like Simply London cosmetics, that it takes more than just throwing money at a problem to fix it. You need the right people who know what they’re doing. And if anybody can find the right people it's us.”

Richie was silent as he thought this over, slowly realizing how right London was. Over the years he had heard about some extraordinary kids in the world out there, some of which really made a difference. Richie didn’t know what they were doing now after growing up but he could find out. And maybe some of them still wanted to make a difference. But they weren’t just kids anymore, they were…

“Highlights.”

“What’s that?” Richie asked London.

“I was wondering if I should get highlights. All this talk about change makes me want to do something with my hair.”

Well, London was one thing that would never change. Still she had given Richie a great idea. He would reach out to others and see who wanted to make the world a better place for children… and adults. They would be shining stars rising above. They would be…

The Highlights are a secret society out to make the world a better place using their talents, both ordinary and extraordinary. Who are they? Former kids media characters now all grown up. While formed by Richie Rich with inspiration from his girlfriend London Tipton, the Highlights are a collection of equals and can act independently of each other. Their plans and methods are up to themselves and they answer only to no authority but their own.

So this is an interest check, chime in with questions or comments. There's all kinds of kids/tween/teen characters that we remember from watching on places like the Disney Channel or Nickelodeon. They are all adults now, what happened after their show or movie ended is free to be interpreted however. Their plans can be big or small, the goal is improving the world.
