Back when Lily attended her posh boarding high school, there was this one boy having difficulties with losing weight and majority of the students in his class picked on him relentlessly... but he never let them take his kind and beautiful heart away from him, he never forgot who he was... and there was Lily, who saw who he really was within and adored him for all the things that really mattered... she saw his intelligence, his ability to see the goodness in the world despite all the wrongs done to him, his kindness and his heartbreaking ability to forgive.

They became very close, inseparable... she tried telling him she loved him, but he always drew away, as if he was convinced he could never be worthy, despite her telling him again and again that outward appearances meant nothing. The world had done their damage to this precious soul.

Well, one evening... no one know exactly what happened or who the culprits were, but this young man was found beaten to the brink of death in an alley near the school. He was taken the hospital and never seen again, everyone assumed he died of his injuries.

His friend, the girl who loved him... was devastated... she never forgave the students that tormented him and never stopped trying to snoop around for who stole his light from her world.

Fast forward years later... Lily would be twenty one years old on the day we begin.

Little did everyone know... the boy was actually the son of a mafia don and his father had him removed from the public hospital to a private state of the art hospital where he was cared for and then the boy sought all kinds of professional assistance to turn his life around 100%, he became a whole new man... all that's missing in his life is the girl that loved him and supported him no matter what...

Our guy would return to his old hometown to find out that Lily's parents are forcing her to see wealthy suitors because (gotta love mafia research connections and etc) her family's shipping business is going under and if they don't get some money soon, they'll lose everything... which means Lily must marry and marry wealthy... or fail her family.
