The Path of Rings and Bronze

:Introduction:

The Path of Rings and Bronze is a story idea that I've been kicking around in my imagination when I'm day dreaming or putting off sleep in the late hours of the night. For a while it was just a means to disconnect from reality and plunge into a rich setting filled with adventure. It's only recently that I've thought of opening up the story telling process in this sort of setting so I hope someone else finds it to be as much fun to engage with as I do.

So what's the story? It follows the adventures of a young man who is tasked with delivering various messages, parcels and items for clients willing to pay the price for delivery without fail. Of course the land is filled with treacherous terrain, emergent conflict between city states and so on. At least, that's what it was. However, now that story extends to a young man and woman working as a team to accomplish these tasks.

:Setting:

The Path of Rings and Bronze takes place on the continent known as Gravia. In Gravia, tribes with roots steeped in mysticism and sorcery have thrived through the ages and have dominated the course and shape of history. As those tribes grew in power they established large cities and now oversee the the governance as ruling families with firmly established traditions and laws. Of course between these cities are varied landscapes, smaller towns and settlements and so much to explore.

Since our story follows our characters who are involved in trade and communication (delivering parcels and messages) it's important to know that they deal in two currencies. These two currencies are what bind the various cities and cultures of Gravia together; the Rings and bronze. Bronze is the more common of the two currencies and used in day to day life of people living in Gravia. The Rings on the other hand, are a magically imbued currency that are used by people with considerable means or influence. Rings can only be passed from one party to another via physical contact and a binding magical contract. Needless to say, bargains made with the Rings are taken very seriously. 

It should be noted that as the development of magic have taken priority over science, things like gun powder are still a number of decades off.

:Characters:

When you're thinking about your character, I encourage creativity. I don't want you to feel too restricted in this process but at the same time I would suggest refraining from dipping into areas linked commonly with divinity (angels) or their counterpart (demons) as those aren't terribly interesting to engage with. Otherwise, feel free to get creative with your character's background, beliefs, magic and so on. This is going to be a long journey, so you and your character should be prepared for an adventure!

:Posting Frequency:

Since I'm a graduate school student, I anticipate being able to come up with around two posts a week. If you need more time or anticipate issues with posting, please just let me know and we can work out a better schedule.

:Interest:
