Looking to join either an existing or new DnD 5E game.

I know how you feel, I've played so many 1st level characters that it's especially frustrating because the game never last long enough to get out of 1st level.

Unfortunately, there are few DM/GM's who will start a game any higher.

This isn't in any way meant to suggest anything about our illustrious DM, These thoughts are in general and from general experience with the DM/GMs on E.

Well, were I do run something like Storm king's thunder I actually need to start the players off at level 5 at the least. Because it's basically just fighting various types of giants the pc's are useless before level 5. Even the module itself says to either just run the party through Lost mines or just start them at level 5 first. It's a fantastic module, somewhat more sandboxy than most modules, and pretty combat heavy. It's also difficult because of the nature of the antagonists. It's pretty easy to get overwhelmed fighting multiple giants at a time.

However, because the one who originally posted this group (also the only person who I really can't and wont turn away from the approved list) is a newer player I don't necessarily want to run newer players through that module.

Curse of Strahd rules, by the way, if y'all want a good module. I'm running it IRL on-and-off, so I shouldn't play in a game of it. But it's a great choice!

So, uhh, yeah, I'm workin' real hard to disqualify myself.

if you don't want to play than don't. I 100% understand the frustration at the prospect of making yet another lvl 1 that may or may not live to see a meaningful future. But yes, I will be starting this adventure at lvl 1, maybe another day I might run a higher level game of some kind

The character looks good, I don't see an alignment or background. Maybe i'm just not accustomed to used DYD beyond.

Took me a minute or two to find it as it has been a while. Alignment is in description and backstory is in notes. NG and youngest daughter of a Cormyrian Duke who ran away to find an adventuring company after bardic college rather than get married off in a political alliance.

Well with Blinkin and Dreaming bowing out, we are down to five. Which is my magic number, and you're good to stick around. So i'll start throwing something together. If people could use D&D beyond for their Character sheets that would be swell. As for the campaign itself. I'll try to get something set up on that site. I've never actually run a campaign on D&D beyond but we will see, failing that we can default back to this site or discord.

On the note of discord, has anyone played with the Avrae bot over discord before? It seems really handy and I've been meaning to try it out for awhile now. I'm wondering if anyone else is familiar with it/interested in experimenting with me.

We do not have a barbarian. Blinkin backed out of the game. Also, I personally don't care if people double up on a class, I know people probably wont but I personally don't care.

If not discord than we can try D&D beyond, though I myself have never run a campaign on it. Or we can stick with the forum.

Yes DnD Beyond does this unfortunately. You have to make micropurchases to add a lot of the subclasses, races, magical items, spells etc. Usually $1.99 each. When I was creating a Hexblade Warlock I think I had to make three of these purchases to build the character I wanted. One reason I stuck with a standard Bard in this instance was everything I needed was in the free content.

Maybe I missed it but was it decided on which module was being run? I saw several mentioned.  I'm still game, also.  The guidelines presented weren't enough to scare me away.  I've played under far harsher conditions.

I haven't picked a module yet. I was trying to feel out what some people have already played and how new this group is to 5e in general.

I can say for certain that the rise of Tiamat books are out, as that is a garbage module. And I am currently playing through princes of the apocalypse as a player in my own group and I can say its nothing special. If anything it can be a little lackluster in some departments.

Icespire peak is kinda the same (lackluster). It's an intro to D&D module but is not nearly as good as LMoP and comes off as a little video gamey with the way players receive adventure hooks. It has individually good adventures and dungeons within it.

I was leaning towards starting with Lost mines then moving into Storm kings. because I personally love storm kings and both adventures give plenty og magic items and have some pretty good action and rp to be had.

Then again I can always make some shit up and try a custom idea I've been working on. I obviously can't promise how refined that would be but it's an option. i'm writing out an ooc now, i'm definitely not going to be finished it soon.
