I’m fairly new to the system but I’m a fast learner and great with groups.  I’d prefer to play a spell caster (warlock in particular) but if you need a role filled I’d be happy to do so.   Feel free to reply here or pm me if interested.

Yes, I really am blind.
Being Literate is the ability to read and understand a language. When you ask for literate, what you are looking for is Verbosity, which is the ability to use lots of words without actually saying very much... like politicians. I consider myself both literate and verbose.

Polymorph

I have had a couple of attempts to DM games, both on Discord and forum. After initial success and the players seeming to be having fun they fizzled. The same happened to games I joined as a player. I might be prepared to give it a shot at running a game again.

I tend to run in the Forgotten Realms verse. I strongly prefer to use DnD Beyond for linking player sheets.

Blinkin

It's a chronic condition for system games. You'll see all this excitement during the recruitment stage, a lot of character concepts. Then you start to play and half of the group suddenly disappears. It's particularly disheartening when the GM is one of the people who disappears.

I've created dozens(yes plural) of characters for dozens of group games and played them for about 2 weeks before things fall apart.

I’d be overjoyed if you would run a game for us Polymorph.  And I usually use discord and Dndbeyond myself so if everyone else is okay with it I see absolutely no problem at all with using those programs.

Blinkin

Unfortunately, I can't seem to use discord and D&D beyond gives my screen reader fits. I could try to use it, but no idea how it will turn out.

If discord is the platform to be used, I'll have to step back from this. I'll wish all of you a great game. :)

I don’t have any problem with playing on here by any means.  The last thing I want to do is exclude anybody

Ollumhammersong

Now that I have all the time in the world for at least the next 4 weeks, and my regular weekly game can't meet up because of self isolation, i'm down to either play in, or GM a game.

if I were to Gm I would maybe do Descent into Avernus or make something up. Or do something simple like Lost mines and take it from there afterward.

That being said if Polymorph really wants to run something. than i'll make a PC

Green Goo Theory

I'm up for being a player.  Assuming it's still able to get off the ground and/or not full.
Coming soon...

JustAlexander

As soon as one of the potential DM’s is ready we can get started I think

Polymorph

I'll still be working as I am in agriculture. So my time to run things would be more limited.

Would love to join as a player if there's still room.

Ollumhammersong

Right, Personally 7 people is a little too unwieldly for a single party, even six is pushing it, but doable. I would typically recommend splitting into multiple groups after six.

I find at this point you often run into 'too many cooks' situations, and you tend to get a lot of overlap with player roles and stepping on each other's toes. At least for a single party.

As for discord vs forums, i'm ok with either.

How many people are new to 5e? and are there any modules people would like to try? i'd rather not run something most people have already done.

AribethAmkiir

I know 5e fairly well, but I've only ever done homebrew campaigns.

Never ran an actual module.

Polymorph

I have not played any of the modules, only been in or ran homebrew adventures.

Blinkin

Well, it looks like there's an over abundance of interest. I had thought about playing an unusual barbarian, but I'm not sure that our DM would like him; I created him using the alternate Human and gave him a little culture.

My second go to would be a rogue.

I'm not sure what possesses you to think that I wouldn't like him. Especially as you have yet to show a completed cs for him.

But yes, I definitely would prefer to cap an adventuring party at 5 people, and that is for the reasons I have stated. Otherwise things get too crowded with too many voices and combat becomes bloated and takes longer than normal, which is saying something in D&D. It's both for my sanity as a DM to keep some amount of control and direction over things and I find more often than not it's better for the PC's

Blinkin

Oh, I agree completely. My few attempts to GM Pathfinder here was a trial at 5 at times, it's like herding cats with ADD.

I actually posted the bio of the barbarian in the forum. He's set at level 3, but I have the level 1 and 2 CS's... it's just not on D&D Beyond. I think that I said earlier that the CS isn't completely text to audio/screen reader compatible, so some parts of it would bereally difficult for me to do.

Anyway, the bio (History and so forth) is here Again, the level can be changed and any incidentals adjusted. He's a human variant with the haunted background (It made sense with his story). I do have plans for his next few levels, but that will depend on what might happen to him. He isn't a run of the mill barbarian... no massive muscles, no furr toga's and... he seems like he would be fun to play

i'm not against him necessarily. For those still interested I tend to use adventurer's league guidelines for character creation. Which is to say

Stats are either generated with the standard array 15,14,13,12,10,8. Or by 27 point buy.

All classes are allowed

Most races are allowed, however anything that starts with the ability to fly (Aarakocra) or anything that doesn't belong in the forgotten realms setting (Warforged) are not allowed.

Preferably no chaotic evil or neutral evil characters as more often than not people just end up using that excuse for 'roleplaying' antagonistic assholes.

Unearthed arcana is not allowed.

And starting equipment is whatever is standard for your class.

On a personal note as a DM I really like the adventurers league PHB+1 rule as well. For those who don't know what that means, when making your character you can use the PHB +1 additional sourcebook.
For example, if you wanted to make a forge domain cleric, than your +1 is Xanathar's guide, which means you can't pick a race or racial variant from say, volo's guide.

I know that last one is pretty radical for most players, especially if you're accustomed to homebrew games were most, if not anything is allowable, and if there is too much uproar I can easily scrap it. But I think it helps keep character creation nice and clean and less confusing. This way you don't have characters who are pulling rules from 5 different sourcebooks I and they now have to keep track of.

So, before I have to start turning people away from the game table. let's see if these guidelines scare anyone off first.

Blinkin

I used the standard array and as far as I know, the only book used was the PHB; mainly because I didn't have access to any other sources.

Human bard, 27pt buy

Meredith Trimble

The character looks good, I don't see an alignment or background. Maybe i'm just not accustomed to used DYD beyond.

I will also hold off and confirming any characters for right now as we still have a theoretical seven people that I need to sort through, and no one has dropped out. Right now I just want to sort out who is definitely still interested, even based on the CC guidelines I've posted. And then we can go from there.

Dreaming Space

I've never seen the PHB+1 rule before, but I like it. I also think doing anything besides standard point buy/array is just asking for trouble.

What probably makes me a bad pick as a player is that I am reading into this an implication that we are starting out in the level 1-3 range, which I am just exhausted with. No shade on anybody else, and I am not here to complain that someone isn't running the game I want them to. I have just played too many games where we were scrubs and I want a change of pace.
