Any FFG L5R Interest?

I just picked up the new edition of L5R and am really digging it! I don't know the system well enough to run again, but would anyone else be interested in one?

I love the setting - like, LOVE it - but prefer the 4th edition rules, personally. Not sure how much smut you can get away with in the setting though, given a samurai's On.

You might be surprised!  On is really only a function of your ability to control yourself and how you are seen, which -- as countless conservative politicians across the world have demonstrated with instances of 'do as I say, not as I do' -- is ultimately vulnerable to human foibles and frailty.  Arguably, these pressures bottle sexual or romantic tension much higher than a more permissive society might!

...so yeah, if something does come up, I'm definitely interested.  I don't think I have it in me at the moment to run anything, but I'll come back to this thread if I do decide on something.

Oh, I know how it all works - I've been playing it for a long time - but unless those two samurai are in very private places (and their union isn't dishonourable due to clan politics of the time - e.g. Lion and Crane), then even touching one another is seen as a breach of etiquette. So not impossible, but any L5R game would likely make smut a distant second focus of the setting.

Fair enough! I adore the setting but never have followed it super close, so I don't know 4th at all and 5th is the first edition I've actually owned.

It doesn't necessarily have to be sex heavy... although I think that would be highly dependent on the players and Game Master working together to determine the type of story they want to tell.

Fingers crossed! I did see someone started a game a few months ago, so hopefully, there will be another one soon!

Oh, awesome, we might have enough people! I think I have an idea for adjusting Dark Tides (the story from the GM's Kit) a little bit, then launching into something original. I am swamped right now though, so we'll just have to be patient for a little bit first.

I've never played L5R but I've read the setting. If we're going 4th edition, I did have an idea for a Kitsune (or possibly Isawa or Kitsuki) with the Bad Fortune: Secret Love merit. Someone who's attracted a Scorpion or Spider yandere woman. :)
