Buddies question

What exactly does it mean to put someone as a buddy? My search skills are failing me something fierce today so I fully expect someone to link me to a stickied thread that I am to blind to see but its driving me nuts I cant find it :(

It basically just emboldens their name when viewing the Who’s Online feature on the front page, so you can find them easier. I believe it also adds them to your Buddies list so it could save you a few clicks when you’re looking to message them, perhaps. Other than that, I’m not sure there’s any other feature.

Also, if someone is on your Buddies list, the green rectangle that shows their online status gets an added circle on it.

You can also set your PMs to 'Buddies and Administrators Only'. If you're uncomfortable receiving PMs from strangers.

You can also set it to show off-site contact info for buddies only, I believe.
