Interest Check: Gopher Lake Massacre (SCREAM playtest)

So I've been having trouble coming back to the site even though I've been wanting to for a while. This idea, along with a couple of others I've had on the backburner for a while now may make or break that. It's for my horror RPG system on my Discord. The game centers around an eclectic group of friends or maybe not so friends, who've got stuck with the duty of cleaning up some property owned by the local rich family--a summer camp called Camp Watershine when the last caretaker died--the aunt of the rich character.

The camp is situated on Gopher Lake, a small inconsequential lake in the Ozarks. Not much can be said about the place except that perhaps there's a little too much meth going around, but that’s fairly common for those little rural towns. Rumor has it that the Army established the camp in 1953 after a plane from Arkansas flew over and dropped something. They wouldn’t say what it was, but divers stayed in the camp while they searched for it. The camp was turned into a children's camp 8 years later when the rich character's family purchased it. A few disappearances occurred over 10 years ago according to local legend. The legend is mostly kept going by people who are overly fond of conspiracy. The disappearances stopped after the summer camp was shut down.

Either a local youth group, juvenile detention center, or the school will help spearhead the efforts to clean the place up and they'll task the students/delinquents (ideally around 6-8 of you) with doing it. I hope potential players engage a variety of horror character tropes.

Background: Melody’s childhood wasn’t a particularly noteworthy one as far as childhoods go. She was harrassed as a kid by some older relatives, but she’s repressed the memory of the incident(s) so it’s really hard to keep track.

Name: Pandora Blackwood
Gender: F
Age: 19
Description: Pandora is a pale-skinned brunette, her hair shoulder-length and layered to give it the sort of casual look easily achieved by an expensive hair stylist. Her accent immediately identifies her as English 'county set' (the lower end of the upper class). She has a fondness for tight jeans and boots, including leather when riding her motorbike. She enjoys being looked at, but is discerning about her sexual partners. She thinks she's tougher than she really is. (Face claim: Eliza Dushku)

Background: Pandora is an upper-class English girl, majoring in Business Studies in the US. She's tended to be something of a dabbler, with a broad range of interests thanks to her curiosity. Which just ensures she'll get into plenty of trouble. When the opportunity came to sign up for Gopher Lake, she jumped at the chance: it sounded like a fun project.

Oh I don't know if I mentioned, but the area you're all going to is known for the high quality of marijuana, and the high quantity of meth. A character that likes either of those would likely be motivated, especially if they're going as part of a community service program.

Okay, digging through the system I am finding it a bit more involved than I was anticipating and I will probably spend all my time stumbling over the rules rather than having fun, so my interest is withdrawn at the moment. I do hope this takes off though. :)

Background:  True to form he plays for the Football Team and while he isn’t bright enough to be the Captain, he is always picked.  He is constantly being told that he will be spotted for the professional leagues soon.  He is cheerful and manages to avoid being arrogant.  He is secretive about his home life as he was raised on the wrong side of town and he lives with his father in a trailer park.  His dad is an alcoholic and used to beat him until Jake grew big enough to stop him.

Description: 'Perry' is the stereotypical nerd who wears glasses and is less than physical, but almost too smart for his own good. His clothes always seem a little out of time celebrating old rock bands or some manner of movie or tv show from yesteryear. Add blue jeans and a pair of converse sneakers and you have the nerd outfit of the ages.

Background:  His parents are both very successful physicians. His mother is a general surgeon while his father specializes in reconstructive surgery. With parents like these he has been pushed towards a career in medicine, but shows much more aptitude with computers and programming. He does however have a BLS card. While he is a bookish type he is somewhat a likable fellow.

Character Name: Kelly-Ann Myers

Age: 18

Description: Standing at only 165 cm (5 ft 5 in), Kelly tends to use heels to give her some extra height and attention. Being that she is barely 55 kg (121 pounds), she still finds clothing that is snug in fit. The exception being her leather black jacket. If it's not enticing clothing she goes for, she still wears low cut tops and skin-tight denim. For her, it is all about the blowout look for her pale blonde tresses in terms of hairstyle, and her lips often are a vibrant red. She goes light in wearing mascara and eyeliner because she knows others are not interested in her blue eyes. 

Background: Having the parents she does, not supportive financially or emotionally, Kelly often had to use other means to achieve getting past such boring things such as going to school. From homework to tests that she never took. An average student according to grade records, though not altogether bright. Rather, she focused on partying, guys, drinking, and drugs. Which in its own way made her pick up tricks and activity from the streets she often hanged out on. All in all, she depends on her pretty face and ability to prey on the pity or weaknesses of others to get what she wants. It is not a matter of not caring about others, she actually cares a lot more than she lets on. Despite her laid back demeanor,  she can be rather nosey and inquisitive towards things and others that just seem weird or off to her. Too often, she simply doesn't know how to show and express most things properly. Part of why she agreed to this probably lame trip that a would have been arresting officer strongly suggested and urged her to go on.  Something about it would help grow as a person maturity-wise. Something like that.
