In which, a father and daughter become the unwitting participants in a 'Groundhog Day'-esque time loop...

Hi guys! So. Over the weekend, I watched Groundhog Day for the umpteenth time. It's been one of my favorite movies for as long as I can remember and I make a point of watching it every year around the day of it's namesake, but I digress. While watching it, I you the inkling of an idea for a time loop roleplay in the same vein as the movie. By the time the credits rolled, I had a fully formed story in mind. I updated my request thread with the idea a few days ago, but I figured a secondary thread wouldn't be a bad idea.

The idea is called Like Ticking Clocks.

The Plot Hook
Time is a funny thing. On the surface, it's just a social construct, a means of organizing moments into minutes into hours into days. It exists in the abstract, marching on into the infinite. Scott Harper had never been one to worry about time. He knew he didn't have enough of it, but beyond that, it wasn't something that he obsessed over... that was, of course, until one particular Fourth of July changed the concept of time for him entirely.

The day wasn't anything special or even particularly peculiar. Backyard cookouts, fireworks, Americana, a free day off from work. Scott had spent most of his time with the house to himself. His daughter spent most of the day with her friends, celebrating and indulging in the festivities, while he took the chance to rest, relax, and recuperate. Falling asleep that night was just like falling asleep any other night. He curled up beneath his blankets, alone in his King size bed, as the echo of fireworks sounded off in the distance. Just another day... until he woke up the next morning to find that it was the Fourth of July all over again. Everything was exactly the same, as if time was repeating itself, but no one seemed to realize it except for him... and as he would soon find out, his daughter.

They found themselves caught in a time loop, repeating the same day over and over and over again. After the initial panic wore off and the existential crisis waned, they started to work together to try to find a way out, depending on eachother in ways they never knew they could...

Our Characters
Picture I have in mind for Scott.

I'll be taking on the role of Scott Harper, a middle-aged man who finds himself stuck in a time loop. A divorcee who has dedicated the better part of his life to raising his daughter, Scott has made a modest life for himself in the small town where he lives, though he struggles with loneliness from time to time and fear of a wasted life.

You'll be playing his daughter. Raised mostly by her father, she takes after him in more ways than she would like to admit. While she's close to him and loves him very much, her social life and her first forays into actual adulthood have started to take up the majority of her time. Within the story, I'm thinking that they still live together, though this is completely up for discussion.

Special Notes
As stated, this idea is obviously inspired by the movie Groundhog Day. It's ultimately just about a time loop over a holiday in a smallish town. The major difference, of course, is that it's two people experiencing the time loop as opposed to one. I'd like to explore a lot of the same themes as those in the movie; self-improvement, spiritual transcendence, eternal recurrence, and so on. Other more heady themes include life without consequence, the nature of love, and the concept of time. However, all those themes and philosophical concepts aside, this is ultimately just supposed to be a fun story with a bit of taboo romance thrown in for good measure.

In the actual Groundhog Day movie, there's been a lot of debate over the duration of the time loop with director himself alluding that it lasted ten thousand years. That seems a bit extreme to me, but given that Scott and his daughter aren't predisposed to being in any sort of romantic or sexual relationship together, I do think leaning towards several years stuck in the time loop will work better. This can definitely be discussed.

I have a few ideas in mind for the setting and such. I believe it'll be a fictional small town somewhere in the United States, but beyond that, I'd rather leave room to world build with my partner. The same can be said for deeper details concerning Scott and his daughter; I'd very much like to plan, plot, and build the characters together as opposed to

Worth noting, I do have a non-incest variant of this idea that I would be willing to play, though it isn't my first choice.

As always, this is open to Female and Transfemale characters. Feel free to look at my post history to get a feel for my writing, read my O&Os to see if we're a match, and message me if this seems like something up your alley!
