I suppose it's better than the toilet they were originally considering naming after him. ::)  Still feels like a copout.

According to the news this morning, the new node is going to be called 'Tranquility'.

Mmm, indeed.  Thanks for the update, Oniya! :-)

Out of curiosity, does anybody agree with me that it's bizarre not that NASA opted not to name the module Colbert, but, rather, that they opted to name it Tranquility instead of SerenitySerenity garnered the second-highest vote total after Colbert, and it was one of NASA's own suggestions.  I can understand declining a particular write-in, but WHY HOLD THE B'GOLLY POLL IF YOU'RE GOING TO DECLINE A SUGGESTION THAT YOU YOURSELF MADE?  I mean, as an analogy, imagine overhearing this conversation:

Chris: Let's go get something to eat.  How about Italian?  How about Thai?
Steve: Hmmm... how about Indian instead?
Chris: Ehhh.  I'm not in the mood for Indian.
   Steve: O.K., then: Italian's cool.
Chris: I don't want Italian.  Let's get Thai.

Might you not suspect that something was wrong with Chris?  Criminy...

Anyhow... yeah.  Thanks for all of the replies, everyone -- I'm glad that you found the topic worth discussing! :-)

Can you hear me?

A fairly conservative choice for NASA but not at all unexpected given the history behind that name.
