With Lancer having it's official digital release and the hardcopy of the book coming next year, I'm looking for a game to cut my teeth in the system. I know of at least a few other people interested as well, so I'm sure there's enough out there for a group, we just need a GM!

I would also like to play the communist giant robot game please.

Revelation

Highly interested in trying out Lancer too. If I were a braver man i'd run, but as is I don't think I have the dedication to run it.

ShadowFox89

If a potential GM needs ideas, I have a few. I just don't think I have the time to run anything more right now.

Oh man, is this the thread of "GMs who wanna play for a change?" :P

Xurtan

I'm totally not exhausted from running random games. Nope, not me.

I somehow always end up running a game even though I want to play, especially with a new system.

I'll admit it's not uncommon to have a specific want or plot in mind and just not see anything even near it for months, so I tend to shrug and run it myself. At this point my dance card for running things is full or I'd consider attempting it, hah.

ShadowFox89

I would suggest hotseat GMing, but I honestly have never seen that work and I don't know Lancer well enough to even remotely attempt it.

Hmmm. I have the PDF. Given the right group, I might be persuaded to run it. Lemme ruminate on it a bit.

Men in general judge more by the sense of sight than by that of touch, because everyone can see but few can test by feeling. Everyone sees what you seem to be, few know what you really are; and those few do not dare take a stand against the general opinion. Therefore it is unnecessary to have all the qualities I have enumerated, but it is very necessary to appear to have them. And I shall dare to say this also, that to have them and always observe them is injurious, and that to appear to have them is useful; to appear merciful, faithful, humane, religious, upright, and be so, but with a mind so framed that should you require not to be so, you may be able and know how to change to the opposite.

On a serious note, I'm pretty sure anyone here would be willing to work out the deets to be a group proper for you.

Vergil Tanner

Well, there are a few things I'm not sure about rules wise, y'know? It will take some rereads to figure out what I'm doing.

I was a backer, so I have the fully illustrated version <3

It's such a friggin' gorgeous book. I gave it a cover-to-cover read before the kickstarter, but I definitely need to brush up myself.

Vergil Tanner

I'll need to work out a story if I'll be GMing. It would probably be Forum-Based PbP due to timezones. I think I might have a general first mission or two, buuuut I'll have to come up with a universe around it.

I'm decent with coming up with plots, I'm just bad at anything after that.

I’d be so up for playing this or if all fails running it.

Vergil Tanner

I think I have a few ideas. Just give me a few days to read through the book again and work out some plots, enemies, etc etc. xD

Wow, it looks like we have a lot of people interested xD Too many for one group, it seems. And obviously, the two people potentially capable of GMing also want to play xD Might it be an idea to split into two separate groups, each GMed by a different person, with the GM's of each group possibly playing in the other group?
Hell, it could be two groups in a shared universe that sometimes swap groups or meet up for R&R. That could be interesting.

Personally, I'm thinking...some new and unknown threat. Possibly a previously undiscovered alien threat, or a new pathogen or something. The game opens when the players are deployed to investigate why a colony on the edge of the known Galaxy has "gone dark," and that's "First Contact" with this new alien threat. Or possibly they're deployed to deal with an uprising or a new pirate group or something, and things Go Wrong and it ends up being First Contact. Either / or, but that's where my mind is drifting currently.

If we have two GMs we could do something like a merged game with an alpha and bravo team, similar campaigns but different fronts.

I'm interested, even if I'm only useful as a backup or just able to get my hands on the rules.

Shadow said the rules were free in our discord, so...I'm keen to add to my collection.

I’m up for a loose collab, though it would have to be pretty loosely connected so we’re not waiting around for each other.

Probably go with a “It was a simple job and then things started to go really, really wrong “ approach.

Vergil Tanner

Oh, it would be loosely connected. What I'm thinking is that if we go with this idea, then - for example - we'd do something like "Same organisation, different teams." So one group goes to one "Problem Spot" and the other group goes to a different one. The stories would be connected, but they'd be seeing different "parts" of the wider picture, as it were. If that makes sense?

Yeah two teams! There’s a lot of big organisations and problems to fix. Maybe one communal area thread where the two teams can chill when things aren’t on fire.

Can do something cleverer with it later if it’s working out.
