Hey guys. Inserted images keep disappearing from my posts. I think it has to do with switching between the WYSIWYG and the code editor, especially when adding padding and floating options to the images.

If you try something like [float=left][/float]

Then, Toggle View a couple of times, Post, then try to Modify the post, I think that could reproduce the problem. At least I hope it does.
Also, inserting breaks or space after a body of text doesn't always work when Toggling View. Or, in other words, Toggling View breaks a lot of the space added before or after elements.

I just want to mention that I've had images disappear from my posts before, too. Especially when Photobucket was dying and Tumblr was removing all adult content. If you save an image to the Wiki, and use that as your URL, it won't disappear because it's being hosted on Elluiki.

There are instructions there on the home page, which make it easy to upload images and even categorize them if you want. I have a whole collection of edited images stored there, now. I hope this helps, at least as a back up option.  :-)

I had a similar problem and went searching the site a good while back, like eight years ago, and the problem was definitely the WYSIWYG editor.  So the simple answer is to disable it in your profile, and work with the regular editor.

The WYSIWYG editor is full of bugs and doesn't work properly (and hasn't the whole time I've been here), especially when used in conjunction with the view function in the regular editor.

To get a flavor of all that is going wrong, click back to the menu for the help forum, then enter WYSIWYG into the search box in the upper right of the screen.  You'll get like 22 hits, some from Vekseid, and all a bit different, but most pointing a finger at the WYSIWYG editor.  There is even more if you search the whole site with the search function in the ribbon menu.

My personal read of the consensus is to disable it in your profile (which is the default option), and it will make your posting easier using the regular editor.

Thank you so much for the tips, Mellific. I'll keep that in mind when dealing with images in the future. :)

Thank you very much for all this information, Geraint. I appreciate it. Definitely gonna stick to the regular editor for the time being.
