History: Nearly twenty years ago, between the years 4697 and 4701 AR (Absalom Reckoning) the Goblinblood wars raged within the kingdom of Isger.  It all started as little more than simple goblin raids as small tribes plundered the wealthy trade routes of the land.  Yet more goblins emerged from the dark forest...and more...until the kingdom of Isger was simply overwhelmed in a torrent of monsters.  Not only goblins came from that dark forest but also bugbears, hobgoblins, minotaurs and other beasts.  Unable to fight back the hundred tribes of the Chitterwood on their own, Isger summoned their allies and together the forces of humanity pushed back the countless legions.  Yet even as humanity celebrated their victory, the aftermath of the war was costly - countless villages were now rubble, the Chitterwood itself was burned to the ground, and the kingdom of Isger was a graveyard of the slain.  The goblins and their allies fled across the land, leaderless and without purpose.  Many would go on to lurk in the dark places of the world, waiting for a chance at revenge, while others joined mercenary companies to serve the human lords.

Of course...in your comfortable home in Phaendar, such tales are little more than rumor, told as scary stories around the campfire late at night.  The kingdom of Nirmathas, in which your cozy village is located, was spared much of the carnage of the Goblinblood wars.  Little of any real excitement has happened within Phaendar in living memory.  Some of the elder folk recall tales of the Freedom Wars when the country gained its independence from Molthune, Nirmathas' warmongering southern neighbor.  The occasional merchant will come through Phaendar with tales of far off adventures and great heroes.  But such things are little more than fancy in the peaceful plains of the Nesmian Plains in south western Nirmathas.  At least...nothing until today...

Adventure Intro:  Our would-be heroes have grown up in the peaceful town of Phaendar, within the kingdom of Nirmathas.  Village youths, they have spend their entire lives in Phaendar and have had little opportunity to see much of the outside world beyond the Nesmian Plain.  Village life is a quiet, though somewhat boring existence with the yearly Market Festival being the highlight of each autumn.  Craftsmen, farmers, herders and loggers all bring their bounty to market for the two day event and exchange their goods for news and city-goods from the outside world.  The adventure begins as our village youth meet up for a day of festivities and celebration...completely unaware of the darkness that is mere hours away...

Character Creation Guide
- This will be a Pathfinder 2nd Edition RP game.  If you don't have access to the player's handbook yet, there are a few places to find free resources online.  See here
- Characters begin at level 1 (with no equipment - I'll give out what is required.)
- Characters need to all come from the village of Phaendar and need to pick backgrounds that would be appropriate for villagers.
- Any race is allowed, though creatures such as goblins and half-orcs will be seen by most villagers with an eye of distrust.
- When creating a character backstory, give your character some reason to know their class.  For example, if you want to play a wizard, your character could have learned the basics of spellcraft from a traveling merchant.  A monk might have found a tome of martial fighting and practices their stances each day.  Feel free to be inventive with backgrounds, just so long as characters are within the bounds of a villager or farmer.  If you need to run an idea with the DM, feel free to ask.

Player Requirements
- Knowledge of Pathfinder 2E is not required, so long as you know the basics of D20 systems.  I can teach a lot of it.
- Post size requirement is at least 4 sentences, though a full paragraph (or more) is preferred.  Shorter posts acceptable for combat, though more 'descriptive' fights are more fun for everyone.
- Characters will be chosen based on their ability to fit within the setting and the party.  Ideally, I'd like a good mix of genders and roles and personalities.
- Post frequency preferences is at least once per 4 days.  Everyone gets busy from time to time, but I don't want to get bogged down in pace if we are waiting for someone.
- I'll be allowing between 4 - 6 characters in this session.

If you have any questions on the above, or want to bounce ideas off of me, feel free to ask.
I'd like to have characters chosen by the end of the week, Sep. 8.

Lastly, the game will not be focused on sexual content, at least on part of the DM.  Player characters are certainly welcome to participate in such things, but you won't find any smut monsters here.  Some light bondage or wardrobe malfunction could occur.  As such, the game will be hosted within the Bondage:Human Small Group section.

If interested, go ahead and write out a basic character description for yourself, including background and what class/theme you are looking to play.  Backgrounds do NOT need to be super elaborate (at least a paragraph), nor do you need a fully fleshed out character sheet (though it doesn't hurt to have one ready either!)

Chulanowa

I'm interested; hopefully third time's the charm  ;D

JFD99

I'm interested as well!

I've been looking for a Fantasy-themed RP group to join :-)

I've never played Pathfinder before, but I'm pretty familiar with the d20 system thanks to D&D 3.5 Edition and Star Wars Saga.

GreenFlame

I think I will go with Lexara Aurois Gnome (Fey-Touched) Sorcerer (Fey) CG Female Fortune Teller. A cheerful girl whos magic is her imagination becoming real and had a mentor in the form of a local 'witch'. Her power will be coming mostly from fey blood in her veins but what she needed to learn as control. Also, her familiar is an imaginary cat. How does this sound?

Are there any places with a hight fey presence?

I do hope getting gear won't be too difficult, especially stuff like Material Component Pouch.

Arcanist

Definately interested. Will get a concept up and running. Looking at a melee type fighter?
Choice is but an Illusion. Consequences are however real.

Absolutely fitting.  The nearby Fangwood forest is rife with Fey, so there's certainly good reason a gnome from the forest might come make her home among the villagers of Phaendar.
Also basic gear won't be a problem.  I intend to give out required items essentially as soon as we start.

Yep - melee types are certainly welcome and I think they are quite fun in PF2.

Athem

I'm interested; I'll see what sort of character I can come up with.

Zaer Darkwail

Barock is simple farmhand who grew and lives in Phaendar. His mother had a misfortune to encounter a band of orcs in her youth while she was collecting herbs in the local woods. Since then she has dreaded the forest to point of serious phobia. She was found pregnant and albeit her parents advised her terminate the child she disagreed, saying she was 'disgraced already and she will not murder a child for sake of false dignity! So she birthed Barock. Barock and his mother both were viewed as outcastes, mother who became overtime bitter as her family literally abandoned her since her choice birth the 'orc spawn'. As she lost any worth as respectable wife and woman by local men's eyes since she was found naked raped and smeared in orc cum. So she turned her reputation to advantage to become scandalous woman; sort woman who sleeps with any man in return for goods, coin or otherwise for favors. As despite she being despoiled she was still strikingly beautiful and became twisted pride local harlot, the only one in business, in the village.

Barock was outcaste just being born to such woman and also being half-orc. He was bullied naturally and got outnumbered and beaten regularly. As way to help mother slept with merchant to get guide for martial arts and gave the book for Barock, who studied it and soon learned basics.....and soon he turned things around against his bullies. Becoming nimble, swift and striking hard to drive terror to the bullies which lasts even to adults. Nobody messes with Barock, no one. Unless your jaw is harder than iron. However thanks his personal training and natural orcish vitality and strength he found honest work as farmhand, working on several farms for odd job here and there. However nobody hires him longer term jobs, either lack of need and also for because he is half-orc and he is naturally scary and folks suspicious about him. Not trust him further than do simple farm labor for some coin.

But as he works he has read the worn manual book back and forth, it was rather straightforward manual with absence of any philosophical guides but he has naturally started observe his surroundings and more meditate on the subjects in general and ponder questions like 'purpose of life'. For him at least and in regards does he has future or not in village or should he go exploring?

Alright, I don't have a sheet yet, I figured I'd wait until we know how you want to roll abilities and whatnot, plus I'll probably need a little guidance with the Pathfinder system, but here's what I have for character so far :-)  I'm of course willing to make changes if needed.

Name: Vrea Olydraeth
Race: Half-Elf
Sex: Female
Age: 19
Class: Bard
Background: Barkeeper

Vrea came to Phaendar as a small child with her family years ago, when a trade caravan passed through the town and offered its wares to the villagers during the Market Festival and after the festivities, they decided to stay and settled on the outskirts of the town. As strangers to the village, they had few opportunities for work and her elven mother found work as a bartender and wench at the local tavern while her human father worked odd jobs in the village or out in the fields.

With few friends among the villagers, Vrea found comfort in stories and in songs, with which she became increasingly familiar as she spent time at the tavern and at the market, especially during the festivals, and learned them from passing entertainers and travelers. One year, as the trade caravans returned for the Market Festival, her father spend their savings and bought her a lute for her 16th birthday, a gift that she cherished greatly. However, it was a bittersweet gift: her father didn't tell her why he gave her such a gift. As she and her mother learned a few weeks later, her father had fallen ill, and wished to gift her something to remember him by while he could. Mere days after he confessed his state of health, he passed away.

With them lacking her father's revenue, Vrea began working to the local tavern as well as a serving wench and as an entertainer, telling stories, singing and playing the lute for villagers and travelers while her mother tended to the bar.

GreenFlame

I was wondering, should make Lexara an NB. Either just identifying as fluid or maybe even being born as a futa. Of course then there other options like she could be AFAB and rgwb grow a penis as a result of her magic manifesting.

CurvyKitten

Peeks~ I've been really graving a dnd style game as of late. So color me interested. I'd be willing to play whatever the group is missing. :)

Pathfinder 2e abilities aren't rolled. Instead you start with base scores of 10, then add ability boosts and ability flaws to reach your stats. As such:

1. Every ability score begins at 10.

2. You then add your Ancestry. Most ancestries give you two "static" boosts of +2 to two predetermined ability scores, and a "free" +2 boost to a third; this free boost cannot be applied to the same stat as one of your static boosts. Most races also give a -2 Ability flaw which you then apply. For example, a Dwarf gets +2 Constitution, +2 Wisdom, and +2 to any third stat, and then a -2 to Charisma.

3. Next comes Background; this gives you a +2 boost to one of two predetermined ability scores, and a "free" +2 boost to a second ability score. Again, you cannot apply the "free" boost to the predetermined ability score you chose (though you can apply it to the option you didn't choose.) So if you choose the criminal background, you get to add +2 to either Dexterity or intellignece, and then a +2 to apply anywhere except whichever ability you chose for the first boost.

4. Fourth, your Class gives you a +2 bonus to that class' primary statistic; sometimes you get a choice in what ability this is. Every Wizard gets a +2 to Intelligence, but Fighters can choose +2 to Strength or Dexterity.

5. Finally, you apply four "Free" +2's as you see fit; again these cannot stack onto the same ability score.

Zaer Darkwail

Where the third free predetermined score comes from? With half-orc I got two free ability boosts (any stat).

Yeah, humans (and half-elves/orcs) are the exception there, since they get two free boosts and no flaw.

So far it looks like we have the following people interested:

Chulanowa: Interest Planted
JFD99: Half-Elf Bard
GreenFlame: Fey-Touched Gnome Sorcerer (Arcane Primal Spells)
Arcanist: Interest Planted.  Melee-type.
Achmed: Interest Planted
Zaer: Half Orc Monk
CurvyKitten: Interest Planted.  Willing to play whatever is needed.

Really don't worry *too much* about having a fully rounded party.  Play whatever looks fun to you.
Though I will admit right out that survival and woodland skills will pay off big...

And thanks for the above post Chulanowa about ability score generation.  I think that summarizes it pretty perfectly.

I'll probably start to decide what characters to fit into the adventure on Sunday later this week.  So if you are interested still, just give me a basic idea what sort of character you were looking to play before then.  No character sheet required yet...just an inspiration

GreenFlame

It's a primal spell list, so I even got some healing.

JFD99

I went and made a sheet after I managed to find a good PDF of the player's Handbook :)

I didn't put any gear yet, and of course if there's anything wrong with it, please let me know!

I'd be interested as well if there's still an open spot.

I'm torn between a halfling ranger and a goblin barbarian. Either way I'm feeling a "wilderness warrior" type.

Siereis, what sort of backgrounds would be appropriate for both a barbarian and your vision for the game? I remember that you didn't want backgrounds like Warrior in the previous iteration of the interest check?

Athem

Name: Valeria Tauranor
Race: Human
Heritage: Versatile
Sex: Female
Age: 18
Class: Rogue
Background: Noble

Valeria is the daughter of Phaendar's squire. Growing up, she had a succession of tutors, who were supposed to teach her the subtle art of politics and diplomacy. Some of them taught her a few shadier skills too. It all seemed worth it when she was engaged to be married to a local lord.

Then Valeria shook off the Charm spell her father had placed on her to assist his own social climbing. She went on the run the same day.

Valeria has the classic Chelaxian black hair, pale skin, and dark eyes. She's self-confident, even over-confident, and cheerful: she's enjoying herself now that she's not under the constant watchfulness of her father and tutors. She doesn't think of herself as a rogue, and definitely not a thief, but a diplomat. Capable of 'aggressive negotiations' if required.

[OOC: Basically, a rogue with a mixture of Dex- & Cha-based skills, and more at home at a society ball than a thieves' guild. And she has no Survival training  :-)]

CurvyKitten

It seems like we could use a healer type. I'd be open to playing a cleric.

GreenFlame

We could always use more heals. Especially since mine are only a back up.

Hm...let me put together a list of the backgrounds that would be most fitting.  I'll put it up tomorrow after I get home from work.

Yep, go ahead and come up with a basic character idea.  I'd like to make character choices tomorrow, so if you can come up with something in the next 24 hours or so that'd be ideal.

NightLux

I'm going to be in and out of contact this week - how about I just lurk for the time being and if a spot opens up, I can toss my hat in then?

OH snap I'm sorry, I missed you saying your character could heal. I didn't mean to step on toes. I can totally play whatever really. I have a few ideas actually, so playing something we might be lacking is easy on my end.
