Ello there!
I wish you well and thank you for your interest. I have listed the pre-story (and plot explanation) below. I am happy to play with either a male or female as the "Dark King"

I would very much like to play this story out over PM, Chatzy, or Trillian (a much more simple an less demanding IM program that I prefer). My posts can range from a decent paragraph to something larger than I have posted below. It all depends on what you desire as my partner, and how much character-character interaction is occurring.

Thank you again, I hope you enjoy my pre-story post below. If you are interested in this plot (or perhaps would like to see what other gem-like plots I have hidden away) please feel free to PM me.

Have a lovely day!

The pre-story

King Atameris rules the land of the sun, a land rich with beauty and prosperous due to their bountiful harvests. A mostly land-locked country they rely on their fertile soils and vast farms which produce some of the best crops and fruits for ales, wines and other products.

Despite their bounty their country boarders a country known to them and the other realms as “The shadow country”, or “shadow lands”. The people of these shadow lands are a bit of a mystery and keep to themselves, only doing trade as is rarely necessary. (The look of the characters from this land is highly flexible).  Among the defining features of the inhabitants of the shadow lands is that they are highly sensitive to sunlight, no one really knows why but as a result their king uses his magic to cast their land in an overcasting of clouds, to block out the sunlight. By doing so he can provide rain as is needed and in some regions of their country sunlight is allowed to break through to provide the necessary light to provide adequate light for growth of their own crops.  The other defining feature is that this land is imbued with great magic and most of the inhabitant practice magical arts of one kind or another.  However, as a result of their mysterious ways, magic wilding and differences in appearance compared to humans from other countries many regions fear the Dark land country and its people, especially the king which is said to wield great magical power.

King Atameris was a proud man and with great wealth and a large army he decided that perhaps he would wipe what others deemed a scourge off the face of the earth and ride their realms of theses “cursed” darklands. So, without provocation, King Atameris enlisted support of the other kingdoms and set out to wage war on the Dark country and their king. Unfortunately, he was just as underinformed as he was overconfident and prideful. He marched his armies into the lands and quite swiftly they were laid waste to, and in his anger the King of the dark lands released a famine curse. Although a devastating curse the curse of famine was a temporary curse and one that only required minimal magic from the king of the dark lands.

With the curse released to punish his beaten foe, the Dark king gracious allowed his enemy to live along with what men remained of his armies, forcing them back towards their own land with the might of his magic and his own magic-wielding army. But upon return home King Atameris laid his eyes on the devastation to the pride of their country, the crops had been laid to waste and with that the people were in a panic. For two years his country struggled and when it seemed that there was no end to the curse in sight, King Atemeis swallowed his pride and returned to the dark lands to beg for mercy from the Dark King. To his great surprise the Dark King heard him out and proposed a simple exchange “for one prize jewel I request another. IF you want the pride of your land back then I ask you to give me your youngest daughter, the so called “gem of the sunlit lands: Kyon the gracious”. Kyon was a young woman, pure in spirit and Nobel of heart. She was kind and gracious to all, often leaving the comforts of home behind to see to her people and as such she was much beloved by the people. King Atameris agreed promptly and returned to his homeland as the curse was lifted and the land returned to is bountiful state almost overnight. It seemed a small price to pay, after all, she had three elder brothers and another elder sister, so handing her off even if it was not to be a union out of marriage, her sacrifice would save his kingdom. Of course, it was not an exchange king Atameris took lightly, he made the deal and returned home with the promise that she would be delivered to the Dark king, to serve in his kingdom and castle for the rest of her days.

The Dark king smiled as he watched King Atemeris leaving his kingdom, for the Dark king had been long awaiting this day which had been long waited and foretold by his sooth Sayers.  He knew more about Kyon that apparently her own father. There was prophecy that she was the key to expanding his kingdom, that her spirit was infused with great magic that he would have access to should she willingly give her heart to him.  It was a quest he had long since been preparing to take on, and now the game was afoot, and a pleasurable game he intended it to be.

Atemeris returned home with the grave news. Although unhappy about it princess Kyon understood her duty. Her brothers and sisters were outraged but the fear of the curse returning upon their lands was too great and they relented into their father’s judgment. Although he had not taken it lightly, he seemed rather indifferent to the situation, seeming as though this was a routine exchange and a fair price to pay. Her brothers and sisters were not just outraged at the price that had been asked but more at the principle of the matter that it had been their fathers pridefulness that had brought this upon their land and family. Regardless Kyon set about preparing for her journey, doing her best to enjoy what time in her sun-lit kingdom she had and preparing herself mentally for the difficult changes ahead of her. She had always fancied herself more a servant than a royal so the idea of servitude did not scare her, but whispers of horrible things and the terrors that lay in the dark lands had her nervous, though when she thought more deeply about it it was clear that these ideas were out of ignorance a lack of information about the dark lands. Amidst her preparations she readied herself to learn about this people in hopes that she might dispel misinformation amongst her own kind.

[ The story will pick up with my first post of her being escorted into the dark lands. My intent with the story is that the Dark king would woe her. He has no bride of his own he has always been more focused on his kingdom and he along with his subjects are much more long-lived than humans.  He desires to woe her, but my hoe is that in this quest he finds himself falling in love. When she gives her heart to him, he will be able to take her magic. She will not be harmed by this…though there may be other unintended consequences that the Dark king had never considered as part of his conquest. ]
