Gah! My brain is on fire with ideas!

What if...what if...the Red Skull hires the Taskmaster to assassinate some figure that's trying to unite Europe, and over in Japan the Silver Samurai has raised an army and taken over their government, and we have the makings of a proto-Axis powers alliance?

I wonder if an inflammatory incident like an assassination might spark an international incident and trigger the start of a war, or at least an arms race. Might be fun to start with everyone completely on edge rather than in the calm before the storm.

I intended to do something similar with Killmonger's direct predecessor, T'challa.

RedPhoenix

I have zero interest in turning the Victorian times into World War II. The constant threat of war and tension sure, a few outbreaks, fine, but an actual world war game won't hold my interest.

Also if we spread this across the entire world my experience tells me we get like two months of activity tops before everything fizzles out.

Keeping it confined to London with a lot of people who have reasons to talk to each other has the potential to be a game that lasts.

Not T'Chaka? Oh wait, I'm thinking of the movies, not the comics. They're not actually cousins, right?

It could be a Cold War type of thing, with open hostility but short of outright war. Should create some interesting newspaper headlines if nothing else. Direct from the Daily Alpenhorn! LOL. Seeing the events happening abroad and how it affects the lives and politics of London residents and visitors. It might be threatening to spill over the channel and into Great Britain but held at bay either by disinterest or by Von Doom's protective measures. Lots of possibilities to keep London a relatively safe haven in a war-torn world or a beacon of hope inspiring everywhere else not to give in to their violent natures.

That actually gives my peace summit idea more merit then, in that case. Still inviting lots of people you wouldn't expect to see there but not because they're fighting an active war.

An isolationist Great Britain with her majesty Von Doom and various other interests profiteering off of a strife-torn Europe would be a quite intriguing setting.

Isn't that kind of how Doom runs Latveria most of the time anyway? Just business as usual, in a new location.

My preference is to keep things in London as much as possible so characters will be able to easily interact. There can definitely be talk about the powers that be in other parts of the world but I'd rather not have everyone all over the place. There are plenty of shenanigans to get up to in the Old Smoke.

As for our queen, I see her following the example of the real Queen Victoria in that she has spent most of the last few decades in seclusion. Of course she probably isn't mourning a lost love but up to something else. As for the Empire, Doombots keep the local population under control much more efficiently than soldiers, which the British people are grateful for. Native populations... not so much.

All righty! Lots of interest and ideas, so I added a character sheet to the initial post you can fill out. As an example here is my day-in day-out character as reclusive armored monarchs are limited in their interactions. Le Chat Noir might be a pretty good place for various Marvels to interact.

The Black Cat
THE BLACK CAT
Real Name: Félicité Armand
Also Known As: "The Queen of the Cat"
Place of Birth: Lyon, France
Known Associations: Her fellow courtesans, various patrons of Le Chat Noir, The Tinkerer
Motivations: A hedonistic desire for luxury and pleasure, vanity over her seductiveness and wits
Quote: "Zis pussycat will never be tamed!"

Origin and Background:
Félicité is the daughter of Gauthier Armand, alias Le Chat, an infamous thief who taught his daughter all his skills. He also though she should have the chance at a life outside of crime, so he enrolled her in ballet classes. Gauthier was arrested and imprisoned when Félicité was in her late teens, as a result she fled from Lyon to Paris where she she found work at Cabaret Artistique as a dancer. She also wasn't above using larceny and prostitution to add to her funds. After a few years Félicité got word her father had died in prison. She decided to quit France entirely and open a nightclub of her own called Le Chat Noir in London, named after the stray felines she saw while inspecting the location and took as an omen. Actually, "glorified brothel" would be more accurate. Her performers, most from France like herself, also provided other entertainment to the clientele. Félicité herself was a willing if selective participant, choosing callers that could be victims or patsies in her other favorite nocturnal activity... burglary. Over the past four years Le Chat Noir has become notorious, a place where both the blue-blooded and black-hearted could rub elbows. And looking down on them all is Félicité Armand.

Powers/Skills/Gadgets:
Félicité is a trained and experienced burglar, aided by her lithe and limber physique as well as gadgets supplied by a tinkerer named Phineas Mason. These include a claw-like grappling hook and goggle that amplify low levels of light. While in Paris Félicité trained in savate to be able to defend herself from both ruffians and the gendarmes. In addition to French and English, she speaks Spanish and Italian.

There is a poltergeist that protects Félicité, possibly the ghost of her father. This protection manifests as "bad luck" happening to those that oppose her. While the spirit is invisible, some people have seen the shadow of a cat when Félicité is around, usually out of the corner of her eye and quickly vanishing.

Appearance:
A pale exotic beauty with platinum blonde hair that is almost white, her green eyes are appropriately cat-like. Félicité is quite slender, weighing 116 pounds while standing at 5' 7." Her breasts are large for her frame and her perky bottom is quite saucy. Black and white are her favorite colors to wear in outfits that usually show a scandalous amount of skin. Félicité moves with a fluid grace and has trouble sitting still, frequently moving her body from one position to another. There is always an air of slyness about her, like she knows a secret no one else does.

Personality:
Félicité is a strong believer is personal freedom from the laws and standards of society. Her crimes are practically a political statement. She is a libertine that loves her hedonistic lifestyle. The death of her father in prison had a profound effect on Félicité and she would do anything to avoid such a fate. She enjoys the arts and being around artists of all kinds. Félicité has quite the sentimental streak and is willing to help someone if her heartstrings are pulled enough. She can also be quite vain, positively purring when showered with affection and raging at those who cross her.

Vices:
Her life is pretty much a collection of vices. Félicité is a regular consumer of absinthe and opium, thus far these habits haven't had much negative impact on her but this might not last forever. She is an exhibitionist who enjoys flaunting her body, which she frequently does at her establishment. Félicité has a voracious sexual appetite and eagerly does what other in society would find shocking, including a fondness for anal sex. Her past partners have included both men and women. Félicité has a masochist streak, quite willing to have her pale flesh punished in all kinds of ways. The only thing she rejects is anyone telling her that how she seeks pleasure is wrong.

Eager to see what you all come up with and keep the ideas flowing!

SINISTER
Real Name: Nathania Essex
Also Known As: The Black Queen of the Hellfire Club
Place of Birth: Unknown
Known Associations: The Hellfire Club
Motivations: Evolution
Quote: "What a book a Devil’s chaplain might write on the clumsy, wasteful, blundering low & horridly cruel works of nature!" - Charles Darwin -

Origin and Background: Sinister does not discuss her background. What is known is that she emerged in the public eye when she challenged the previous Black Queen of the Hellfire club several years ago and bested her for her current position. Since then she has used the power and wealth of the Hellfire Club to fund her labs and experiments, designing bespoke treatments for Hellfire lackeys and genetically designing offspring for the highest bidders and performing genetic enhancements on those who can afford them. She often makes references to events from centuries past, although it is unclear if she was actually there or simply trying to spook people. Her studies have largely focused on what she calls "Essex Factors" that she believes herald a new turn of evolution.

Following the publication of her first set of experiments, involving the discovery and dissection of several criminals and soldiers who displayed extraordinary abilities, the Church of England declared that she would not receive a Christian burial for the sins of her experiments and theories all of which defy the idea of a loving god that rules supreme. To which she replied that she would embody the virtues of the new age in opposition to the repressed minds of the church, and thus declared herself Sinister.

Powers/Skills/Gadgets: Sinister is one of, if not the, most foremost biological scientists on the planet. She has an understanding of human biology far in excess of even the most educated minds of the day, and it is only the equipment available that limits what she is able to do when it comes to altering the human body. Most of her experiments were done on herself - hence her unusual skin and striking appearance. She does not ever appear to age, and is fantastically strong and durable, although she does not like to display these powers. She has the knowledge to remove mutant abilities from her subjects, and implant them in herself.

Appearance: Classically beautiful with a body to die for - long black hair, unnaturally white skin, red marking in the center of her forehead, very poised, excellent posture. Typically wears a corset, opera gloves, thigh high heeled boots, and lingerie in the style of the Hellfire Club.

Personality: Ice cold but not distant, amused by many of the pleasures of life but in a clinical way, likes a challenge but likes to win more, Sinister can offer a lot to anyone, but the price she demands in return is always high - usually a living mutant. She seems to find something funny about those who dismiss her scientific accomplishments, or speak dismissively of women in general, because of their gender. She is completely amoral in many ways, but considers herself to be civilized, and does not believe in sadism or cruelty for its own sake, but rather sees herself in the vein of Nietzche's Übermensch - no longer bound by fanciful morality.

Vices: Unethical experiments on the unwilling. Pride. Self-Interest above all. Obsession with mutants.

I hope this is good. I kind of dig how Taskmaster's costume can be pretty easily tailored to fit a variety of time periods, past, present and future.

Spoiler: Click to Show/Hide
Taskmaster
Real Name: Gustaf Jaeger
Also Known As: The Hunter, The Assassin, The Ubermensch
Place of Birth: Germany (assumed; based on his name alone; even then it's hard to know whether that's his real name, even for him)
Known Associations: Too many to have remembered, but if they're evil or hungry for power, he'll likely have been approached by them
Motivations: Personal enrichment, recovering his lost memories
Quote: "Anything you can do, I can do better (...after I see you do it first.)"

Origin and Background: It may be tragic irony that the man known as the Taskmaster has little knowledge of his own past. Anything before what he presumes to be age 30 is quite blank in his mind and this is both maddening and heartbreaking, or the latter would be if he wasn't such a villainous lout. The very ability upon which his illustrious career depends comes at a terrible price, wiping out space in his limited brain capacity for personal memories in favor of all the various martial arts styles and weapons training he has crammed into his mind over the decades.

Quite a legend has been built up around him, and his reputation as a hired gun (or sword, or bow and arrow, or in cases where a real message needs to be sent, a small knife and a lot of patience) has made him quite popular, as well as very expensive for those who wish to procure his services. Nothing is above or beneath him, he will take any job that pays well enough. Finding him isn't usually too difficult for those who wish to utilize him, though for any trying to apprehend him, he may as well be a ghost. Enough have tried and enough have died in the attempt to know what a bad idea it is to continue. It really is all he has now, and no one has yet seen his face and lived to tell the tale (at least, not seeing his face immediately after removing his mask; his true face is great for going undercover when he's not engaged in a job). Truthfully every time he takes off his own mask and looks upon himself in the mirror, a complete stranger stares back at him. All he wants in the world, more than the money he accumulates and the thrill of the hunt, is a way to keep his non-job-related memories from vanishing, and recover those that were lost, permanently, without losing any of his acumen for memorizing enemies' fighting styles and wielding them in combat.

Powers/Skills/Gadgets:

His innate skill, not quite a mutant ability but remarkably similar to what one would expect a mutant to wield, is a combination of eidetic memory and muscle memory that allows him to instantly memorize any sort of movements made by others and just as quickly recall them. This makes him capable of learning an opponent's fighting style in a matter of seconds and replicate it, enabling him to predict their moves and counterattack with them being unable to throw anything new at him without adding to his arsenal of counters and eventually falling before him in a straight fight. This also goes for wielding weapons, even firearms and archery, which has made him a master assassin at close and long ranges. There is scarcely a weapon on Earth he has not got proficiency in, though he typically only carries a few favorites. A sword, a shield, a pistol, a small crossbow, a dagger, and numerous throwing knives.

Appearance:

He couldn't tell you personally without taking off his mask as he doesn't remember what he looks like himself beyond a few hours after looking at himself in a mirror. Usually the last thing you see will be that terrifying skull mask, made of real victims' skull bones. It took quite a lot of them to get them to be molded together juuuuust right...

Personality:

He is a professional above all else but is also a sportsman. He enjoys the chase more than the capture and can be a bit of a sadist while he's at it. Letting someone go only to come down on them all the harder once they think they've gotten free is one of his favorite pranks. He loves a good challenge and getting the real measure of a person, and will interact in a much different way outside of business/pleasure in order to gather intelligence on a target or just someone he finds fascinating in case he gets the chance to meet them later, inside or outside of a work-related situation. He's a fan of the philosophy of Shan Yu, where you may know a person for all your life, but unless you torture them to the breaking point, you'll never have truly met them. He's only had that opportunity a few times but has done it enough to know it's true. He's got a dark sense of humor, no doubt having to do with the fact that such a method would never work on him because he doesn't remember enough about himself to reveal any such deeper truths about himself.

[Vices: Playing cruel tricks on people just to see their reactions. Getting them a little too drunk to make good decisions and then causing a bad situation and watching how they handle it. Or offering them something too good to be true and then causing it to be taken away, leaving them devastated. Other's pain and misery seem to satiate him, probably due to him having lost so much and feeling that every day of his life.

MARVEL NAME HERE Captain America
Real Name: Eve Rogers
Also Known As: The Sentinel of the Seven Seas, Cap.
Place of Birth: America
Known Associations: Her crew
Motivations: Keeping the oceans and the world safe for freedom, the dream of American’s everywhere.
Quote: "America doesn’t hand you things on a silver platter. Sometimes all she offers is hope."

Origin and Background:

If you ask Eve Rogers for her background, depending on the day of the week or what sort of adventures she’s had, she’ll give you a different answer. Some days she’ll tell you she’s the last in a great bloodline, each of them descended from Lilith, bestowed with gifts beyond those of mortal men and women. Each new daughter eats a small piece of Lilith’s blood, in the form of rubies. Other days, she’s from a secret tribe in a far away land, who came to America seeking freedom. She agreed to protect the fledgling nation as well as all the interests of those who would be free. Some times she might just tell you she was experimented on by a pale woman with a glowing red forehead. Though sometimes she changes it up and she volunteered for the experiments from a kindly German man. She’ll also, at times, to be in service to the secret Queen of America.

Whatever she tells you, she’ll tell you this. Her parents worked hard, and were taken from her at an early age. They believed in the Dream though, the Dream that all men and women were created equal, and any could be born with freedom in their hearts, no matter where they were born. They taught her to work hard, to stand up for her beliefs, and that’s what she did and does. She patrols the high seas, the oceans, searching for those that would prey on any others out there, a pirate of pirates.  Her ship, though becoming a bit outdated thanks to some of the new inventions, is still one of the fastest out there.

Powers/Skills/Gadgets:

Eve has no powers per say but thanks to whatever runs through her veins keeps her at the peak of physical condition. Stronger then most men, Eve is the pinnacle of human physical perfection. She uses more portions of her brain at once then most people, allowing her to think faster. She produces less fatigue toxins then a normal person, is immune to most illness and disease, and has better then perfect eyesight.

Eve is trained in the use of most firearms and weaponry, as well as several forms of unarmed combat. She also carries a sword, as well as a shield that is made of a fantastic metal, with even more fantastic properties. There’s several stories for that as well, ranging from a gift from an African Warlord to a prize won after besting the princess of a hidden jungle land.

Appearance:

Whatever gives her powers insure that Eve is as fit as a human can possibly be. To call her perfection would be close. She keeps her blonde hair tied back into a tight pony tail when on attacks, preferring it to hang loose when she’s not. She has no scars thanks to her healing, or tattoos currently. Blue eyes watch the sea as much as they can.

Personality:

She possesses an old world flair, as if the weight of the world can be as light as a feather…though she often feels the crush of it all. Sometimes she possesses a deadly seriousness, other times appearing bored with matters of grave importance. She believes in what she believes to be right and just and herself to be on the side of such matters. Sadly for her, she feels, in secret, she was born into the wrong era, and her way of life is coming to an end with technology. She’s a woman out of sorts with a world she no longer comprehends with much of the advancements coming forth.

Vices:

Eve does love a good fight and brawl. She would love to just sail about the world for fun as well. Occasionally, she can’t help herself and does enjoy the occasional bauble they take from some of the pirates, before redistributing the wealth among victims and the poor.

Sasquatch421

I've been reading through and give massive applause for such a great idea. So much props for creative ideas for characters!

While I'm undecided for throwing a hat in for anything, I will give some idea's and perhaps give other people prospective idea. This would so be great for the more supernatural side of the Marvel universe.

Jack The Ripper: Honestly how much would one Victor Creed fit into this role? It could be a great nudge for any Logan players.

The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mister Hyde: This would probably be my pick if I did anything... A Doctor named Bruce Banner uses a new experimental technique and creates a new persona that names itself Joe Fixit.

Clan Akkaba: They are decedents of Apocalypse that are locked in a never ending battle against his mortal enemy Vlad Tepes or Vlad Dracul, be great for OC's, just don't be the leader of the Clan. If you need to wake up Apocalypse for help, you are going to kick the bucket.

Werewolf by Night: My second pick, he was cursed with Lycanthropy after his grandfather went to try and rescue his grandmother from Dracula.

There are other idea's like say Selene or Morgan Le Fey...

Well there is the real Mr. Hyde from the Marvel comics so it could go either way, him or the Banner/Hulk thing. Also maybe a Carnage/Cletus Kasady analogue could fill the Jack the Ripper role too.

Oh, you know what would work well here? Blade and some vampires. I think Blade would be an awesome vampire hunter even in this era.

Funny thing is there was a Hulk story where he beats Mr. Hyde and decides to keep his cape. Alas, we didn't get further adventures of Hulk in a cape. But the "Joe Fixit" Hulk was very Hyde-like, being criminally inclined while puny Banner was still a good guy.

There was actually an issue of Power Man and Iron Fist where Sabretooth acted like a stereotypical slasher to hide that it was him murdering people. Oh the days when he was a conflicted slave to his animal instincts and not in perpetual tough guy mode. Anyway, Vic the Ripper would be in character.

A lot of horror elements from the Victorian era would work since Marvel has incorporated so many of them. Heck, egyptology got popular in the 19th century so Marvel mummies like N'Kantu and Gomdulla wouldn't be any more weird than they are in the modern day.

Quote: “You are a good man, with a good heart. And it’s hard for a good man to be a king.”

Origin and Background: The man known as T'challa is the present ruler of the free state of Wakanda, a conglomerate of tribes which bonded together to found its own independence. Formerly a domain of colonial forces, Wakanda would ultimately liberate itself, becoming a beacon of independence throughout much of the world. This liberation lead to a "Domino" effect, which saw the rise of an African Union.  Following this "Reform" period, an Armistice was agreed upon by both Wakanda and Great Britain, leading to a truce. For many years this truce remained ironclad. This would change with the untimely assassination of King T'chaka. As backlash for this incursion, Prince T'challa assumed the mantle of King and organized a liberation effort abroad, applying pressure to the "machine"  (It's believed that Wakanda directly aided an insurgent revolt in the Caribbean territories, among some other things).

King T'challa seems to be the first Wakandan ruler reared with an extensive knowledge and experience abroad, he seems to have an exceptional understanding of intrigue, he is sometimes referred to as the "Wandering" king by his people.

Powers/Skills/Gadgets:
King T'challa is an exceptionally gifted fighter, tactician and lover. He is adept at everything he puts effort to, he possess a prodigious talent with few peer, though it didn't come easily, Wakandan training is notoriously rigorous. At times, his abilities often seem otherwordly. As if he were embued with aid of Bast herself.

Appearance: T'challa is somewhat tall (6'1") man of African descent. He is characterized by his unusual vertical cat-like pupils and impressive physique, not unlike the animal his tribal clan are named for. T'challa's overall physicality is lean but solid with definition similar that of someone who regularly engages in rigorous exercise.

As the Black Panther, T'challa appears in a formal vibranium weaved suit of sorts bearing resemblance to the animal he's named after. The grain of his suit appears to have a kente pattern-like design. A signifying touch of Wakandan-African pride.

His suit is invariably black, with silver, sometimes gold outer trimming. His overall appearance is meant to convey the presence of a sleek but intimidating looking predator.

Personality:
Calm, disciplined, and reserved, T’Challa speaks in a controlled and precise manner, displaying little emotion and appearing generally unreadable. He can come across as arrogant, where he’s actually just confident in his abilities.  T'challa is a bit more Philosopher than Warrior. In his youth, T'challa was known for his consummate "playboy" lifestyle, he's reigned in some of those "loose" tendencies...somewhat, he is lover of adventures, often traversing to newfound places , aboard his personal airborne vessel.

He displays what he considers to be a regal bearing, as he tries to live up to the memory he has of his father as a perfect ruler. He feels the need to be in constant control of himself and events surrounding him.

There’s little division between his masked and unmasked identities. His costume is ceremonial rather than a uniform, and neither is used as a retreat from the life of the other (like, for example, Peter Parker turning into Spider-Man if he needs time to think etc.).

In a way he has two masks. His real face rarely displaying his true self, so is really as much a mask as the Panther face. He will use whichever is best suited for achieving his current goals.

When with hero groups, such as the Avengers, he tends to quietly observe proceedings, making sure he understands all the factors in play before acting. Despite his aloofness, he’ll never ignore other heroes, whether old friends or new to him (unless of course he’s manipulating them).

He always has a certain reserve from everyone, having what’s been called “the world’s greatest poker face”.

T’Challa is dedicated to the welfare of his people and his country above all, and to leaving a legacy which can begin to come close to his father’s. It’s to this end he’s tried modernizing his country, removing the isolationist policies it had for so long.

This has caused trouble among certain factions, but he views it as a necessary step in the long term, with a global community developing which he doesn’t want his successors cut off from.

Vices: Among leadership, he is a bit more progressive than previous rulers. Although brilliant, some of his ideas are more radical than the world is ready to embrace.
