Greetings.  My name is Reiji, and I'm the front man for parties interested in running a campaign in a new(er) table top RPG called City of Mist.  Details below.

What is City of Mist?

City of Mist is a mystery-based RPG with heavy mythological influence.  At its heart, City is a detective story, about taking the clues and finding the wheres and whys and whos.  It just so happens that the PCs are Rifts in the Mist.  What is a RiftRifts are legendary influences or beings who have awakened in the guise of mortals.  That mortal lived a normal life until the legend within them - their Mythos - awoke and caused a tectonic shift in that person's life.  That person being you, and that Mythos awakening caused by the Mist itself.  What is the Mist?  The Mist is...complicated.  But the gist of the Mist is that it's the thing that keeps the Sleepers - totally mundanes, unlike the Rifts - from recognizing that the supernatural is afoot in the City.

Okay.  But what about the game?

Two things to cover on the game.  The nature of the game, as well as the technical details.  The nature of the game is that as Rifts, the characters are trying to balance their lives as mortal beings (represented by what are called Logos Themes, aspects of your mortal life), as well as their legendary potential (represented by Mythos Themes, powers you get for being more than human).  Ascend too high - shed too much of your mortal life, and you risk pulling an Icarus.  Neglect your legend, however, and you risk becoming a Sleeper.  This you must do while attempting to solve whatever mystery is at the heart of the story.

The technical details.  City of Mist runs on the familiar (and now highly propagated) Powered by the Apocalypse engine.  This engine is used in other games, some notable ones being Apocalypse World (Mad Max-type setting), Monsterhearts (based on the TV show Buffy the Vampire Slayer), and Masks (pretty much any superhero franchise out there).  A player-facing, narrative-driven setup.  However, given certain bits, elements of the also-well known FATE Core game system are also in play.  The system can be taught easily enough, but people with experience in either PbtA or FATE are most welcome!

What else?

As stated above, we will be trying to run this game on R20 (if the parties I represent can find a time to run the story).  This would most likely be on the weekends (Saturday/Sunday), for those that have busy schedules.  Other options for running the story are currently under advisement, but R20 is at moment the preferred expressed method.

How can I sign up?

You can either post here, or get in touch with YT via a PM.  If you have any questions about this, the same.

See you in the City!
