Having trouble figuring out how to use the search feature

I’m trying to search the one shot classifieds thread for my older posts so I can pull some ideas from them to put in my own request thread, but I’ll be darned if I understand the search system. If I try to search one shots for my username with an asterisk in the text field, it tells me I need to have at least two characters in the field. If I use two asterisks, no result. Searching just for my name doesn’t seem to be an option.

I’m probably missing something or using it wrong. Is there a way to look for all my posts in a single thread, or at least a single sub forum?

Edit; I did have a name change on E, I was formerly ThatRPGuy. As far as I know, all my previous posts are shown with my new name as the poster, but could that be the reason I’m having so much trouble? Should I search for my old name?

Searching for your old name won't help, unless it appears in the text of the post. The poster name will have changed to Galactic Druid.

I don't think you can restrict your search to a single thread, only a single board. You might try using the word "classified" as your search term, since I think that'll appear in the title of each post you made in that thread.

You could try a search word like 'the'. It's almost guaranteed to show up. It works as a bit of an alternative to * for that reason.

Yes you can, just search while inside said thread.

I must be using the search system wrong.

Typing my name in the search box at the top of the screen while in the thread doesn't find anything.

Going to the search link, then advanced search, limiting it to one shots for the areas searched, putting my name in the user field, and "Classifieds" in the text field produces this:



I don't understand what I did wrong. Only the most recent post from the classified thread shows up at all, and a bunch of stuff I'm not involved in. How am I messing this up this badly?

I think you'll need to rehost that image somewhere else, not seeing it right now.
