Topic split from News thread.

Included the Manning posts because they do have a relation to the topic at hand, though for some folks Manning may be a more relevant topic than for others, all things considered. For some, Manning will feel more important to the topic, for some she won't, no big deal.

Lustful Bride

Apparently Assange was a spoiled brat to Ecuadorians whom he sought safety from.

I've also seen mentioned in other places Assange regularly demanded certain types of foods, would rollerskate around the embassy. And he sued the country giving him protection last year.

But this wont make a dent to some of his supporters who kiss the ground he walks on :/  I don't hold it against him for holding out my Countrie's dirty laundry and exposing crimes/corruption, (though I took issue with him helping screw our elections and get trump elected) but some people online are treating him like a saint.

The tangled "Swedish case" against Assange was eventually dropped in 2017, and he had never actually been charged - technically he was just wanted for questioning, to be asked about what had happened that night. I personally thought it was a rather iffy case really, there had been a good deal of fincking and rephrasing with the original allegations and it became more and more difficult to understand why the posecutors here flatly refused to hear him over a video link to the embassy, which he offered as an option.

I think his fear of being extradited to the US from Sweden, even if he had been acquitted at a trial in Stockholm or had received a relatively short prison term, makes sense - the US accusations were the real heavy factor in this. The government here refused to make any kind of pledge that he would not be extradited to the US.

The prosecutions office at Stockholm are now saying they're looking into perhaps reviving the case. The charges Assange could be facing will get to their date of expiry next year.
