Looking For Roleplay? Take A Look...

Hello All.

I want to write. If possible, I'd like to find one or more compatible individuals to create stories with, and experience all the fun and excitement that comes along with shared storytelling. I've recently come back from a period of silence, and would like to get back into the swing of things now that I'm more or less stabilized. What better way to do so than jump right in, and take a crack at my own ad thread? At the time of this post, there's no big idea formulated in my mind. There's no specific cravings I'd like fulfilled, and there's not anything that's jumped out at me. Nothing has sparked my interest overtly enough to try and fill in the blanks, describing scenario's, situations, or characters that I'd like to play. In that respect, I suppose this is a bit of an odd start to a thread advertising my desire to RP. Without providing any initial story ideas, how do you even know if I'd be worth your time?

Excellent question. I can tell you what I'm NOT interested in, for a start. A bit of an OFF's portion. Here goes:

Anything Superhero related. I enjoy the comics, the movies, the games...I'm just not interested in roleplaying in any of these universes.

Historical Roleplay. I'm simply not interested in playing a period piece.

Slice of Life. Right now, it's really 'Meh' for me.

Roleplaying as established canonical characters. That is to say, I'm not interested in roleplaying as non-Original Characters. Likewise, I'm not interested in roleplaying opposite of cannon characters. Having them be IN the setting, or as minor NPC's, I don't mind as much.

Aaaaaand that's about it. Now if you're still reading by this point, you must be wondering; where's all the sex-related stuff? Where is this person's ON's and OFF's page? Short answer is, I don't have one. Nor am I going to be making one. Might seem a little counterintuitive, but hey, I'm shy. I'm just not comfortable throwing my kinks or preferences out there. If you have questions, feel free to ask. I don't mind questions. I actually prefer them, to be honest, as opposed to having one simply browse over my personal preferences. I might say 'That's not my thing' or I might say 'I enjoy that, sure'. Either way, it's dialogue one-on-one that I'm more comfortable with. Speaking of which, there's likely another question you're desperate to know the answer to...Story or Smut!? What's the ratio!?

Short answer is, I'm more of a story person overall.

If there's 0% smut and 100% story, I'm game. This is how I've written for a long time, and I won't get bored simply because there's no steamy bits in the story. Now, that isn't to say I'm opposed to writing something hot and heavy, otherwise I'd be posting in the non-adult section. As with my ON's and OFF's, you're just going to have to ask. If you're looking for story-based writing, I won't disappoint you. If you're just thirsty as hell, well, that's fine too. We can talk about it. Toss me a private message, and we'll see if we'll make the right fit for each other.

Okay, so now that we have all that covered, what am I interested in right now? Another excellent question.

As much as I enjoy Freeform RP, I much prefer something system-based at the moment. If you're convincing enough, then you could probably swing my interests towards playing things by ear. Otherwise, I want something with some structure. D&D 5e, World of Darkness (and its various splats), Shadowrun, Eclipse Phase, Blades in the Dark...something along those lines. The ones I just listed are the systems I'm most interested in using, though they're not the only ones I'm willing to utilize. There's a lot of material out there after all, and if there's something you've been wanting to try, all you have to do is ask. I don't have access to a large body of material, but if I don't own something, it's likely I'll acquire it with relative haste. Now, you might be wondering...those are all group-based tabletop games. Shouldn't I be advertising in group ads?

If the plan was to roleplay with a group, sure. But I'm not looking for that. Hence, the solo 1x1 Roleplay thread.

If you want to RP a single character while I do all the rest of the work as the Storyteller, sure. Traditional tabletop roleplay, but scaled down for one person to experience, rather than a group of people. If you'd rather be the one controlling the bigger picture while I RP as a single character, that's fine too. If you'd rather have two threads where we run something for each other, as a sort of tit-for-tat, roundtable sort of thing, cool. If you'd prefer to run a cast of PC's, as opposed to a single character, or have me run other PC's while STing, I'm down. Likewise for the other way around. Honestly, any which way works for me. I'm mostly just in the mood to either run something, or have something run for me. I'd rather have this be between myself and one other, as opposed to a group of people, for various reasons. Okay, that's all fine and dandy, but what kind of writer is this Endscape person?

Third person, past tense. That's how I like it. If you'd prefer first person, or present tense, that's cool. I prefer third, but it won't put me off if you prefer writing in a different style. Second Person is a Hard OFF. I'm not my characters, so please don't write like I would be. I'm also descriptive and narrative. The devil's in the details, right? I'm not a one-liner type either. I don't do three sentence posts. Two to three paragraphs is about what anyone might be able to expect from me, although I've been known to go write novella's on people. For the most part, I tend to adapt to the flow of my writing partners, and will write more or less according to what the situation warrants. As for the frequency of posting? That also kind of depends on the amount that's being written.
