I remember a couple of 'transplant-oriented' movies without any radiation involved.  One was a guy (pianist?) who got a hand-transplant from a murderer (strangler?) and another one involving an eye transplant.

It has been quite an incredible few days in British politics with members of his own party calling in public for Boris Johnson's resignation as his unpopularity grows, although he appears determined to try to hang on.  This has been the cumulative effect of a number of parties  or events which were held at 10 Downing Street, which he claimed were work related, during lockdown. Most particularly, there was a party held in the garden on May 20th 2020, when we were under the strictest lockdown and could only meet one person outside your own household, where 100 people (Downing Street staff) were invited to a "Bring your own booze" party after work, to enjoy the good weather, although many of the invitees did not attend.

Johnson apologised in Parliament, saying that he had only attended for 25 minutes, thinking that it was a work meeting. RIght.... He has since told Conservative MPs that he thinks he has done nothing wrong and is taking the rap for other peoples' mistakes, so so much for that apology. Here's a summary, although it is very hard to keep up with all that is happening.  He has a tendency to deny everything, then say that something happened but no rules were broken, but then to admit it, like a naughty toddler caught in the act of stealing chocolate.

Meanwhile, Prince Andrew, the Queen's middle son, who is facing accusations linked to Epstein and Maxwell has had his military honours and royal titles removed - I am not sure if this is permanent or temporary - amidst speculation that he will seek an out of court settlement. Exactly this. I have a police friend who was called in by someone who had been swindled while trying to illegally buy gold dust (not that buying gold dust is illegal per se, just that he was trying to do it under the counter for a knockdown price, without appropriate taxes and controls, and I guess presuming it was stolen).

Hmmm. Now I recall a video making rounds on FB with a woman that approached a cop to help her with someone who stole money from her. When the cop started inquiring, the woman blurted out that she was trying to buy drugs and the dealer took her money, but didn't give her anything in return...

Boris Johnson has "categorically" denied he was warned a drinks party in the No 10 garden risked breaking lockdown rules.

There need to be 54 Conservative MPs who send in a letter to Sir Graham Brady. (Chairman of the backbench MPs in the party) indicating no confidence in the leader for there to be a leadership election.  7 have gone public that they have done so, but rumours are that 30 odd letters have been sent in.

If the challenge is too early, though, and Johnson wins, then he is safe for a year. I am having inceeasing doubts, but have thought he is safe until May when local elections take place and heavy losses could make the Conservatives panic.

His performance was terrible today - he didn't know the rules, but he was giving regular broadcasts saying what they were!

Yes, that's right about being immune for a year. The Conservatives' majority is so big too that he wouldn't lose a vote of confidence in Parliament overall.
People who may have voted for him are really angry. It's quite spectacular how his support has dropped. However, it's currently in the hands of Conservative MPs, who do seem to be turning against him.

I increasingly think that Boris Johnson might be out sooner than later, but to share something now:

There have been a couple of campaigns going within the Conservative Party; one was to save Boris Johnson's career, called Operation Save Big Dog, and the other was to propose populist right wing policies, called Operation Red Meat, to achieve the same thing. The latter included defunding the BBC, employing the Royal Navy and/or sonic booms to prevent migration across the English Channel and a plan to process migrants in Ghana and Rwanda.

Unfortunately, they hadn't actually checked this with the Ghanaian government, who objected to being roped into Operation Dead Meat, as they accidentally (?), but accurately, named it. I thought this was a parody at first, but it's serious.
