In 2016 a Schizophrenic man called police saying he was in public and was confused and was having a mental health incident and needed help. He was then killed by the police. The body cam footage has now been made public showing what happened. Tony Timpa was a 32 year old man who needed help and was killed by police for calling them and not resisting arrest. When they arrived private security had already handcuffed him and he was on the ground. Police then proceeded to sit on him for roughly 19 minutes with knees in his upper and lower back, keeping his face down into the grass and dirt with at least two people on his body. During the entire time they laughed and joked and made fun of him. At one point he lost consciousness and stopped responding which the officers thought was funny, causing them to make more jokes at his expense. Tony Timpa pleaded he was dying, couldn't breath, and that he wanted to live, the entire time he was awake. Medical personnel arrived an gave him a sedative after noting he was unconscious. After four minutes during which he wasn't breathing they put him on a gurney and loaded him into the ambulance while still cracking jokes. Finally they felt his chest and took his pulse and told the police that Tony was dead by the time he had reached the ambulance. The police department attempted to cover this up and made numerous false public statements while their official records show they didn't even claim Tony resisted arrest. In the footage Tony wiggles but that's about it, especially given he could barely move. Despite a grand jury indicting the officers involved with the ruling being that it was murder the Dallas County District Attorney dismissed the case. The officers involved were put on administrative leave until the cases against them were dismissed, after which they were put back on active duty.

In Britain, we had the hottest recorded day on record on Thursday last week, but this was followed in my area by torrential rain. Now, the town of Whaley Bridge, in the hills less than ten miles from where I work, has been partially evacuated with a dam above the town in danger of collapse and drowning it when a reservoir bursts out!  The weather forecast is finally set to improve after today, so hopefully, the work on diverting the water from the collapsing dam wall will have a chance of succeeding.

I've been listening to the audio-book version of the Mueller report - a few hours into it so far.  One of the things that stuck in my head was some of the Russian participants talking about 'bringing the end of the current Cold War'.

It appears that the FBI internally treat Qanon conspiracy theorists as domestic terrorists, along with conspiracy theorists in general. This is quite accurate as we've seen from people associated with Gamergate, Pizzagate, Qanon, various racist conspiracy theories that are so numerous it's hard to even list. Conspiracy theorists are one of the largest domestic terrorism threats in the USA and overlap with white supremacist terrorists heavily which are the largest current domestic terrorist threat in the USA.

I have received hundreds of these. It's kind of hilarious, as not a single one is relevant to anything I've done. It's just a factor of having a number of public email addresses.

There was recently a wave of such e-mails here in Poland. A lot of people (including me) received e-mails from a supposed "hacker" who accessed their PCs, found "very naughty things" and threatened to reveal them until paid. It was such an obvious scam that it was kind of hilarious...

When it comes to me, I knew it was a scam, because the e-mail claimed the hacker found my history of accessing porn websites... The thing is, I don't actually visit such websites.

I think most of us got them, I got one too saying "oh the word (insert old password from Fallout Nexus) is important to you" to prove look we hacked you.. Yeah I know Nexus got hacked, and since I don't have a webcam.. their supposed proof was kinda.. empty. Oh you got video of me doing things to naughty sites? No you don't. I never do naughty things. I'd literally seen people posting about how Cloudflare's method of dealing with reports actually ended up harming people that reported stuff (their standard procedure was to notify the site owner about reports - which then would lead to 8chan doxxing people and all sorts of terrible things) within the past 48 hours.  Then I saw an article in the NYT that the founder of 8chan had said it should be taken down, but since he actually passed ownership on to some other guy, I didn't think much would come of that.

Then this crossed my feed.

Mind you, 8chan will probably crop back up like mildew, just like the Daily Stormer did when Cloudflare dumped them a couple years ago.  But maybe it will start being harder for these sites to find homes.

They deserve no praise. "Well we have hosted a haven of doxxing and stalking, full of child porn, but this was just one too many mass shootings related to it for us to allow it to stay" is a weak statement. It's a company taking a stance and correcting a problem way beyond late. Likely they're just covering their own asses, they've defended it after other incidents saying free speech is free speech no matter what and even when they removed the Daily Stormer they said they regretted it and it was a rash choice, or rather the head of the company did. Cloudflare is rotten to the very core and supports sites like that until they get in too much trouble and have to pull the plug.

Also yes Oniya I've known quite a few people who went it was gaining more notoriety reported 8chan to Cloudflare then within a day got doxxed. And were told by Clouflare they had passed on their information to the site owner since that was their standard procedure. They were the canaries in the cold mine, many who have been targeted by 8chan are not even alive anymore.

Well it will come up like this.. you can keep THAT client and lose six or seven clients?  It's going to come down to the bucks. I'm sure that after the last flareup of shootings got Cloudflare some comments about the relationship they had with 8Chan. Simply put it is the $$$

I found this through The Verge. While the Verge can be questionable they usually actually link to the sources for a story which is very handy.
