The Honourable and Ancient Society for the Abduction and Enslavement of Ladies

HASAEL or 'Hazel’ as it came to be know was born in the social turmoil of the Industrial Revolution. Previously a gentle lady could expect the undivided attention of her abductor and all of his resources but with the pressures of the new industries and changes in social structures many a lady found that her abductor was too busy to attend to his duties as expected by society.  Whilst a lady may not wish be abducted, if she was she expected to held prisoner to the standards expected of a lady of her social status.

It was a national scandal when the eldest daughter to the Duke of Aberystwyth was abducted only for her to free herself and just walk out of the gates of the stately home where she had been imprisoned.   Matters came to a head when the 3rd Earl of Slough was publicly named as being the noble behind the debacle.  In the sorry post-mortem it revealed that the man had neither the means nor the ability to imprison the lady in the manner expected by polite society.  It was in the midst of this debate that the Honourable and Ancient Society for the Abduction and Enslavement of Ladies was formed.  Initially it simply provided advice of the etiquette of abduction, imprisonment and possible enslavement of ladies but soon found itself taking on the work of abducting and imprisoning the ladies themselves as many nobles had to admit they lacked the skill or time to discharge their duties.  Word got about and soon  letters were appearing in The Times and other respectable publications praising the work of the society.  An excerpt of one is shown below

Honour forbids me naming the gentleman who ‘abducted’ me  His servants were most apologetic, and tried their best to ensure I was kept suitably imprisoned as a lady of my station could be.  It seemed that they were more aware of the duties and obligations of an gentleman abductor towards his captive than the gentleman himself.  I have no complaints about their efforts, their efforts were noble and always to the best of their abilities.  It was one of his servants, a honourable man most distressed by his master’s absence and the lack of care he showed towards me, that mentioned the honourable and ancient society.  Soon with the society’s help I was kept in the most stringent of restraints in such a dungeon as befits a lady of my status and skill.

Whilst originally based in the British Isles soon the society opened branches in other major cities in Europe and America.  With the growing influence of America their marketing became slicker and their appeal widened to include the rich not just the title.  They also moved from the traditional 'Gentleman abducts Lady' model so that a Gentleman or a Lady could abduct a Lady.

Damsels Distressed!

Meddling Sleuths Enslaved!
Actresses Auctioned!
And much more.
Satisfaction guaranteed.

So if you know a lady of good standing and breeding, wealth, or just too nosy for their own good, a lady who deserved kidnapping, imprisonment and possible enslavement to only the highest of standards then you know what society to call.

Historical, steampunk, modern, futuristic, fantasy - the world/setting can be adapted to what you want.

Now there can be RPs based on this but if you just want to indulge in a bit of world-building or cooperatively producing some 'letters of appreciation' from satisfied customers - mini-stories in effect, then drop me a line.

Scooby: I’m afraid you’ve gone mad with power.
Velma: Of course I have! Have you ever tried going mad without power? It’s boring, no one listens to you.
