Hero Info
Superhero Name: Kiwinissa
Real Name (if different):
Playbook: Outsider
Abilities: Can fly, pretty tough, Stunning Beauty/Pheromones, Radical Shapeshifting
Pronouns/Gender: Her/Variable
Interested In: Women/Men/Hermaphrodite/Masculine Monsters/Feminine Monsters
Brief Description:
While most of Nissa's people are content to stay on their handful of settled worlds, there are always a few who feel the need to get out into the wider universe and just wander. When Nissa gave into the urges and left, it was to general disappointment, a promising young singer lost to the wanderlust that plagued a small portion of her people.
Still, she wasn't stopped from departing and, while her arrival on Earth was entirely accidental and she had to fall back heavily on the potent pheromones and innate shapeshifting that her people possess before she learned the basics of human interaction, she's started to find herself falling in love with this planet and it's inhabitants, who look so much like the cute little micro-monkeys often kept as pets back home.
Of course, given her native form, the existence of pet birds deeply confuses and unsettles her, but she's willing to overlook that!

What some humans seem intent on doing to others, however, is not something she'll just stand by and let happen, though!

Familiarity With Masks/PbtA: Dungeon World experience
How Often Do You Elliquiy?: Nearly daily. If I'm especially unwell or tired, I might miss a day.

Haha! Very nice!

For people who haven't put up a character yet, would a list of what the playbooks are like help?

Yes please! Lol the Sha’ir is an odd spell casting class to say the least and something to compare it to would be nice :)

questions

Who Mentored You In Supervillainy?
I was never a supervillain. I never made no  monsters or stole any diamonds.   I know people who did but that don't make me a supervillain. Technically I was on the payroll of Vinnie  Castellano but he was no mentor to me. He was dirt! He probably had me killed.
Who First Showed  You That You Could Do Good? I don't do good. I'm just trapped in the body of someone who does good.

What Was Your Goal As A Villain?
I wanted broads and money. Mostly broads but the money was good too.

What Caused You To Switch Sides?
I was shot to death and then I woke up in the body of a twenty year old Mexican.

Why Do You Care About The Team?
I want vengeance and I want my own body. I also don't want to be banished.

Familiarity With Masks/PbtA: Never played Masks before but I've played a session of MOTW and a campaign of Dungeon World.
How Often Do You Elliquiy?: Weekly.

Looks great, Love and Submission!

Okay, I'm going to make a post with the playbooks and what they generally are "about."  Obviously there's a degree of interpretation involved as well, so this is kind of a starting point for them.

Okay!  For people looking through playbooks either to find what their character may be like OR to look for inspiration, here's a list!

Core Playbooks
These playbooks are the ones that come with the core book and are freely available online!
-The Beacon- You don't have to be a superhero, but you are one because being a superhero is AWESOME.  You get Drives, cool things you'd like to do because they seem fun.
-The Bull- You are the result of experimentation that has left you separate from other people.  You mostly care about two people, your Bull's Heart, a Rival and a Love.
-The Delinquent- You are drawn to the fun, chaos, and thrill that comes with petty risktaking and crime.  But you care more than you let on and are fundamentally a hero.
-The Doomed- There is something bigger, darker, and scarier than you that is tied with your powers.  It is bringing you steadily towards your Doom which will consume you if you aren't able to stop it.
-The Janus- You have to balance your Mundane and Superheroic life.  That's important and the only way you can keep people around you safe is to wear a Mask.  But that doesn't stop your obligations.
-The Protege- You have been trained by an existing hero in how to fight crime.  They aren't necessarily trying to make their follow up, but their influence on you is important and shapes you.
-The Nova- You have incredible world bending, reality shaping powers.  When you make a mistake, people get hurt.
-The Legacy- You're the latest in one of the big important traditions of superheroes with similar names, costumes, and powers.  It's a heavy mantle to wear.
The Transformed- Something changed you in a way that makes you obviously visibly different.  Are you the monster that people see?
The Outsider- You aren't from around here and all of these Earth customs are strange and foreign to you.  Plus, you've got your species breathing down your neck about coming back home.

Halcyon City Herald Collection
These playbooks came out in the HCHC Expansion!  They're a little bit more complicated than the Core playbooks or take an idea from one of them and plays it in a different way.
-The Innocent- You come from an alternate dimension or time where you were a hero!  But here, in this time, there's an older, darker version of yourself (either a villain or a dark antihero). You have a path that if similar things happen to you as happened to them, you'll turn the same way.
-The Joined- Your powers are tightly tied to those of another hero in the party.  The two of you act almost as one at times, but growing up may separate you.
-The Star- You have a following that loves your performance and heroics.  Keep them happy and they'll take care of you.
-The Reformed- You used to be a villain and everybody knows it. Your path to heroism will obligations that hang above your head.
-The Newborn- You are new to life, a construct that doesn't understand how the world works.  Your friends will guide you in that.

A.E.G.I.S.
These playbooks are from the A.E.G.I.S. expansion (I can't remember the exact name of the book...)  They are again, more complicated than the Core playbooks.
-The Brain- You are a genius who understands things on a scientific and tactical level beyond your teammates.  You ALSO have a shame, something you created or discovered that is an enormous danger.
The Soldier- You are an agent of A.E.G.I.S. with the backing of the organization.  You have an additional stat (Soldier) which you can use to rely on your training.

Unleashed
These playbooks are still in beta and aren't done yet.  They've gone through a LOT of changes lately and I'm not 100% sure how they play.  They are definitely some of the weirdest ones.
-The Scion- Your parents are supervillains and everyone kind of expects the same from you.  You have people in the city that you need to prove yourself to and things you have to do to show you are a hero.
-The Nomad- You've been hopping from dimension to dimension for a while now but something about this reality has you starting to develop roots.  You can only give Influence to up to 6 people and it works differently for you.
-The Harbinger- You are from a dark future of this world that will come to pass the way things are currently going.  You're here to stop it.  The people you meet fill in that dark future as we play.

Aaaand that's all of them!

The Joined one seems fun but so hard to pull off in non-tabletop  :'(

Nastara

The Joined is SUPER cool, but it does struggle from that problem. I'd say it could be done with two super reliable players, but YEAH, it's tough.

Or by one person controlling two characters? Though, I guess playing twins with someone else could be a pretty fun RP.
PM box is open. So is my discord: Sain#5301

Nastara

The beta version of the Joined was 1 player being 2 characters! They ended up changing it because it just didn't work super well.

I could see one player two characters working better in play by post than it would have in tabletop.  Still hard, but more manageable.

Nastara

I think the main thing they found was just that the Joined player ended up being bored. They are SO tightly tied to a character that is themselves that they ended up kind of rping alone a lot. It's harder to get a big surprise from your twin when you're controlling them!

The description of "The Star" makes me think of the character from Mystery Men, the dude who had all his sponsor's logos on his suit, whereas "The Scion" instantly makes me think of "The Runaways" :D

Star, Innocent, Nomad and Delinquent all seem like fun concepts

Nastara

Those are great pulls for those! ;)  Some incarnations of Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch also fit into the Scion space!

All four of those are fun!  Now I'm all curious what you might be interested in making! <3

Putting down an interest flag as well and working on a Nova character. Just out of curiosity, do you have any major guidelines (other than Elliquiy rules) in regards to character pics/designs?

MasterMischief

Will be lurking with popcorn.  Recently picked up Masks and Monster of the Week.  I am really curious to see how it plays.

Love And Submission

I'm thinking about changing my playbook to the doomed because if Frank is a vengeful spirit, demons have to show up and drag him to hell, right?

I guess they can't drag him to hell because he's in Jim's body.  That gives Frank a good reason to keep Jim alive.

Hero Info
Superhero Name: Arcane
Real Name (if different): Artemis Caine
Playbook: The Nova
Abilities: Sorcery
Pronouns/Gender: Her/She/Female
Interested In: Men/Women/Futa/Masculine Monsters/Feminine Monsters/Consent Required
Brief Description: Daughter of the Silver Age Hero Wonderworker (aka Hercules Caine), Artemis has had an... unusual upbringing to put it lightly. Growing up in Wonderworker's Mansion of Mystery, Artemis was routinely surrounded by things that were out of the ordinary: visiting faerie dignitaries from the Summerlands, vacations in the Chaos Dimension, friendly brunches with Duke Vell'ator of the Seventh Circle of Torment and so on. Such was the life of Wonderworker the World-Wizard's only child. Wonderworker himself took a very hands-off approach to childrearing; he mostly focused on mystical matters and typically left Artemis in the care of his butler, Tremaine Teargarden. While she never knew the identity of her mother, Artemis was happy to roam the non-euclidean halls of the Mansion of Mystery under Tremaine's watchful eye and was given a steller (if somewhat unusual) education.

Recently, however, Artemis has begun to manifest her own spark of sorcery. While her spellcasting is crude compared to her father, she is nonetheless extraordinarily powerful. Feeling that she should be doing something with her vast magical potential, Artemis sought out a super-team that needed a specialist in the mystical arts. While she does have a tendency to cause collateral damage, she is nonetheless a determined and potent ally for the cause of good. She is thankful that her new team seems friendly towards her, and she relishes the companionship. However, it's only a matter of time before Wonderworker or one of his many foes turn their attention towards her.

Artemis is a very top-heavy young woman with short brown hair, blue-green eyes, and brownish skin. She has no preferred style but favors busy patterns (florals, paisleys, and argyles are preferred) in bright colors. She often wears a bevy of arm decorations as well, typically bracelets and bangles of the cheap and tacky variety. When dressing up for hero work as Arcane, Artemis prefers to wear a purple tunic over a dark blue bodysuit with a flowing black cloak with a Halloween-orange inner lining. She wears a black half-mask that covers the bottom half of her face, as well as black leather gloves and thigh-high boots. Whenever she uses her powers, whorls and swirling sigils on her skin light up, and magic circles made of dark purple, sky blue and orange light form near or around her.

Personality-wise, Artemis is friendly and positive, if a bit... out-of-touch and spacy. She's not exactly up on modern slang and lingo, has little knowledge of modern trends, and often finds herself befuddled by her peers. "I do not know what that means," is a common phrase that passes her lips. While she finds herself out of her depth with normal folk, she seems much more at ease with the bizarre and unusual. She's quick to accept people who look weird or freakish and typically empathizes with such individuals.

Artemis's interests include reading ancient spellbooks, making coffee, shopping for clothes and Posfair (an alien game similar to chess, but much more complex in terms of both board and pieces). She identifies as bisexual.

Backstory Questions:
When did you first use your powers? Age 16. I vaporized a beast from the Prison Plane that had escaped into Father's mansion. It was entirely instinctual.
Who was the first person you accidentally hurt with your powers? Tremaine. He forgave me, but I felt miserable for months afterward. At least his hair grew back...
Who, outside your team, helps you control your powers? Tremaine. I would have asked Father for help, but he always seems disinterested. Tremaine is an excellent teacher, however.
Why do you continue to use your powers? Because... it feels good when I use them. I don't know why.
Why do you care about the team? Outside of Tremaine, they are the only ones who seem to care about my wellbeing. I care about theirs too.

Familiarity With Masks/PbtA: Played Headspace. Not a whole lot else. Familiar with the system, though.
How Often Do You Elliquiy?: Daily.

@Mischief: Cool! Let us know if you end up character genning!

@L&S, Yeah! I totally get that take! Sounds like a change that would work well!

@Yurie, what a delightful little arcanist! I don't have particular needs for the images!

I think I'll stick with Reformed because I think it's more colorful.  The idea of a twenty-year old kid being called by an eighty year immortal supervillain  for help robbing an ancient tomb of magical artifacts is too good to pass up.

I have  not played Powered by the Apocalypse Game lines but played something of a similar System Blades in the dark.

So  I am interested in joining but have a few  questions.

When you change play books do you  lose the previous Playbooks abilities and powers or is it more like an addition and growth to the character?

Like in the case of the Beacon when you complete four drives and can  take a new play book.
