Okay, so I loved the old The Mask animated series and the film from the 90’s and eventually led me into the comics [as different as they were from other material]. Other day I looked some of them up and it made me feel a little nostalgic so here I am, wanting to take The Mask into a different trajectory.

The story is primarily inspired by the Episode the Bride of the Pretorius as the protagonist of the story is the character Evelyn featured in the same who meets Stanley at the bank. A shy, mousy girl who turns into a loud, man hungry woman when she stumbles upon the Mask. She and Stanley date briefly. There are clips from the particular episode for reference here.

The Edge City has seen The Mask vanish. It has been ages since anything was heard from The Mask or Stanley Ipkiss. As if he has simply vanished into thin air. And yet, an array of criminal acts are being perpetrated in the name of The Mask. Are they hoaxes, imposters or the real deal? There have been too many of these. Documented in videos and yet, something different about each episode. But then again, you never know with the trickster, right?

Peggy Brandt has continued her own investigation before simply giving up.

Eve has moved into Stanley’s old apartment with a roommate and when she does.. she receives a package. A strange package specifically addressed to her with a note asking for help and comes into possession of the Mask. Is it a last gasp for help from Stanley? Or did the strange thing act unto its own will? Either ways, it Evelyn finds herself in its possession and invariably decides to undertake the investigation of her own. Of course, it doesn’t help that she remembers the sheer freedom the Mask offered her as well and that begins her foray into the underworld to solve this mystery.

Is Stanley Ipkiss still alive?
Who are these duplicate masks?
Is there some sort of conspiracy afoot?

You can play anyone ranging from Peggy Brandt, some other OC or even any canon. If you want to GM, that would be great or else we can simply share NPC load together. I’m looking for something that captures both the darker side of The Mask as well as the humorous aspects of it. Evelyn was a pretty basic character in the show but we can easily flesh her life out some more.

I have more than this plot for Mask related stuff that is more OC based that I can pitch to prospective partners if you wish to. Just figured I should try putting this one up for grabs and see if it garners any interest first given somewhat esoteric nature of this particular fandom.
