Well here's my new character. Still need to flesh out her abilities but she's coming along well so far I think.

Personality
Free Spirited Hazuki is a lot of things, cunning, deceitful, graceful, but at  her core she’s a free spirit, acting on her desires at the time. When she wants something she’ll go for it even if it takes years to be able to get it. She wanted luxury, she spent centuries gaining the power to do just that. She wants revenge after being disrespected she’ll humiliate the offender or kill him away from others. By the same token if she wants someone to serve her, she’ll take them and if someone harms one of her workers she’ll strike back even if it takes years for a plan she set in motion to come to fruition. She does what she wants to do when she wants to do it and she doesn’t let anything or anyone get in the way no matter what the cost even if it does make her selfish.
GluttonousFine drink, good food, silk sheets, rarities, antiques, entertainment Hazuki loves them all. When she wants something, she’ll go for it. There is no such thing as indulging one of her impulses too much. She got used to a certain life style in Veskra and she hasn’t entirely given it up on it even on Earth. She actively searches for and collects the finer things in life and has no qualms about making side trips to acquire luxuries during the dark hour or making deals to get a better life for herself. She doesn’t turn her nose up at the lower quality, after all quantity has a quality all of its own. Until she manages to set up a place on Earth for herself it’s the only way to have the feasts she’s used to and she’s not going to let lack of options stop her from having banquets once more even if she has to take care of the food herself.

Shiki Background
History
Hazuki started out like most oni in Veskra with no land and was expected to be little more than a wandering bandit or mercenary. That wasn’t enough for her. She wanted more. It took a few hundred years but after a time she managed to carve out a slice of Veskra for herself using wit, guile, and when it was required brute force. Having her own place in Veskra wasn’t what she desired however, and it was just the start of her time in Veskra.

The next few centuries were used to get what Hazuki had been after all along luxury. She threw feasts, festivals, and banquets, acquired rare items, the finest food she could get her hands on and the best ingredients she could get for her specially brewed oni wine. Her personal estate and the land around soon became known for the grandest feasts and the best place for alcohol around as long as the rules were followed, and guests didn’t mind putting their lives of risk. Danger was always present at Hazuki’s feasts ranging from the strength of the alcohol, to accidents, and of course the most dangerous thing of all offending the host. She leveraged her reputation to her advantage. Invitations were given for artifacts and oddities, she hosted negotiations between factions as a 3rd party so neither side had an advantage, although she did nothing to interfere with any treachery or schemes involving the different sides unless unless it impugned on her reputation or interfered with the people who lived on her land or worked for her. She soon was able to have anything she wanted but there was a problem, the very nature of the world she inhabited.

Veskra was not a place meant for luxury living. The place was a waste land. Art, culture, even entertainment were all slim pickings. Any artifacts she acquired tended to be either ancient or unusual weapons or armor used by some famous demon, pieces of magic artifacts from doomsday weapons. or things that were some part of a grand scheme used by some demon in the past. It was not a place that encouraged the training of musicians, writings by famous scholars, or great works by artists. Hell if she was honest even the best beds were rather lumpy and furniture made from the bones of one’s enemies really weren’t that comfortable. The best of Veskra really wasn’t that great and it just wasn’t enough for her. So she turned her attention to a new pursuit, leaving.

She turned all her reputation, wealth, and cunning to acquiring books of magic, rituals, anything she could get her hands on that would let her leave and go somewhere better, more luxurious with views, and beauty, where she could get even more than she had. In short, she wanted to get to anywhere other than Veskra. Eventually she found what she needed an elaborate ritual requiring multitudes of rare ingredients, but she managed to get everything she needed. Using it she opened a tunnel to a new world, Earth. She had to leave everything she had behind but that was fine. She could start over. She’d had nothing in Veskra too when she first started, and she managed to carve out a life of luxury once. She could do it again.

Hazuki spent a year or so on Earth so far, just playing tourist and getting a taste of what this world had to offer. She discovered very quickly that she liked it. Oh sure she couldn’t murder her way to power or go up and challenge some random leader to take their place and she may have killed a few humans before realizing how frail they were. Many of them couldn’t even handle a single cup of a proper drink but the benefits far outweighed the negatives. There was music, art, theater, movies, and games all of all sort even large swathes of nature that wasn’t dead or just rocks. Plus there was furniture made out of wood, imagine that. The alcohol was weak, but she could fix that easily enough with her know how. She had gotten exactly what she wanted when she left Veskra. Now she just had to make all these luxuries hers.

Perception of Humanity
Hazuki likes humans even if they’re a bit frailer than she would like and make horrible drinking partners. They’re greedy, ambitious things that want to live out their lives doing whatever they want and are creative enough to get it without letting their frailty or short lives get in the way. They really weren’t all that different than the demons in Veskra except they traded magic and powerful physical bodies for much better taste and creativity. She’s pretty sure they got the better end of the deal and she can’t wait to start acquiring all the benefits of their advantages for herself.

Opinion on  Occultists
Occultists are powerful humans and her shortcut to gaining access to the influential people of the world. It’s just the kind of first step Hazuki needs to begin acquiring all the power and wealth she needs to live a life of luxury even better than the one she had in Veskra.

Oni alcohol  lvl 0 Hazuki’s knowledge of brewing oni alcohol survived the journey and she’s learned to make it with the ingredients humans have available mixed with a little magic. It’s too strong for humans and drinking too much of it without building up a tolerance for it can be deadly and to those who can’t hold their liquor even the smell of it can make them drunk. On the plus side after experimenting with it Hazuki’s discovered it’s even more dangerous to Shadows and works as a potent poison when used against them.

Other Points of Interest:
-  Hazuki is an excellent cook and it’s  something she learned early on after acquiring her land. Can’t have a good feast without delicious food after all.
- Despite doing whatever she wants most of the time Hazuki does have certain rules even if they don’t make sense to anybody but her.
- As much as she loves the finer things in life and the arts Hazuki is incredibly clumsy when it comes in participating in the arts or creating something other than food or drink she’s incredibly clumsy. Her drawings and painting come out as stick figures, music instruments squeal and break under her touch and she sings like a crow. It doesn’t stop her from trying however as she believes she can do anything if she tries at it long enough.

Like any other creature, Shiki are perfectly capable of picking up a piece of cloth and wearing it.
So having various outfits for different occasions would be a nice idea.
I should probably also clarify that all Shiki (unless otherwise preferred) have a default invisibility power;
Essentially it's an ability that renders them invisible to regular humans.
The power has no effect on Occultists, Shadows, or other Shiki.

Since you posted the character here instead of PM'ing me, I assume that means you want to be publicly humiliated.
So lets see, what can I criticize you on?
..... Nothing really, Hazuki looks good.
Though I was a little bit disappointed to hear that she could cook as well.
Since I kind of liked the idea that she could brew the perfect drink, but need someone else to provide her with the snacks, and food to go with it. Sort of feel as if her seeking out a good-decent chef would be a fun thing to play out.

But that's just personal opinion. The character is accepted, and I'll send you the formatted version in a bit.

She can cook but she still needs a chef She taught herself so she can host feasts on her own but she would much rather have someone else cook for her.  Easier to enjoy that way. Food tastes best when made by somebody else or something like that.  xD

Also yay on full approval and having her in the info thread! Had fun making her so I hope everybody likes her or at least finds her interesting. ^^

Just a quick update, regarding Shadows.
I've decided to create a new tier of Shadows who are susceptible to human attacks.
I've edited the first post with the following.

Shadows come in three tiers;
Category 1 - Small, reckless, and can be dispatched with effort by humans.
Category 2 - Roughly human sized, and immune to conventional human weapons
Category 3 - Intelligent, and on par with Shiki. Highly dangerous.

I'll be introducing types of Shadows next week.
But essentially, I wanted to let human characters be a bit more effective, rather than having them stand back and leave everything up to the Shiki. Still recommneded to do that in most instances though.

It's not that big a change, and it gives the Occultists a bit more of a role if they ever do decide to get involved in the combat aspect.

Over the next few days I might be adding a fair bit of information to the GRP....
Since I'll be bringing my work schedule for this forward a bit as I'll be a bit busy at the start of next week.
If anyone has any questions/suggestions, or ideas they'd like to discuss. Now would be the best time to do it.

@Leki: Hm, I already discussed a fair bit of my idea stuff with you. I'm trying to wrack my brain to see if there's anything else I could ask for as far as capability or doing or possibility of seeing is concerned. Some of it depends on how the arrangement of where we're staying is set up, obviously. =p

I know some characters are be brought in for their first time, but would it be okay to say some of us have already been with them a month or two? Since I wanted to see about Takuya having been there and failed to contract a Shiki for the first month. =p

xD I live mostly, I got sent home by my writing teacher last night - and because of my insistence that she told us that she didn't even want us writing (because she said it last week in class!) Our second paper till we got the edits/info on our First Paper back, she gave us an extension till Sunday to do the Second Paper of the class! So I'm feeling a lot less stressed.

Leki I LOVE the new shadow idea, though admittedly my mind twists will all sorts of delicious little ideas with the more human ones (Would they simply hunt humans down and devour them, the ones in the coffins, or are shiki and humans 'fair toys' for them to torment for their own delights? Which makes my mind wonder how much fun it would be to play a human Shadow that enjoys collecting 'toys').... -puts muse in a box-

Gardsorm - I know that Noel herself is resistent to contracts - she feels betrayed and basically made less than human by having her rights stripped... simply because she can be an Occultist... So I just imagined the conversations she might have with some of the other Occultists... (NO! Noel NO STARTING A REVOLUTION!)

That sounds like a box of interest Takuya would want to mess with just to see what happens. x: That being said, from the around of things most Shadows seem to be particularly the violent type. If more experimental Shadows show up though... Well, that'll be amusing to see. =p

Yeesh. D: Takuya would probably sympathize with her in that regard, but that's also dangerous thinking to him. He didn't make contracts because he didn't really jive well with any Shikis the first time, but he didn't let it bug him. He just used the time to basically have a free month lf studying up and acclimating to the new life. =p

@Character Circumstances
I'd like any Occultists who wish to be from Revius City to let me know as soon as possible.
Personally I think it'd be much more convenient for all Occultists to be from somewhere else.
There are several clusters of Occultist hideouts throughout the country, and after being abducted by TENMA, Occultists would be assigned a city to move to. This is a measure to ensure that all characters will be staying at GM provided accomodation. This allows me to keep all characters in one spot, and we don't have to worry about family homes being nearby.

Characters who have previously attempted contracting with Shiki could have tried in another area and Failed.
As a result they'd be shuffled along to a new location, which in this case will be Revius City.
All Occultists hence should be new to the area, probably staying at a hotel in the City Centre Area for a night before the GRP starts.

I'm going to be honest and state I don't have the time or willingness to control every aspect of this roleplay.
In fact, it's pretty unreasonable for anyone to expect a single person (or two) to do all the background work.
So to alleviate the pressure, I'll be allowing all players the ability to control NPC characters.

Regular Humans: Regular Humans are people who live in Revius City. In most instances they'll just be "That Man" who appears once, does something.... and is never seen again. But if anyone would like to have a reoccuring NPC, let me know and you can fill a short profile out for them. (Basic Info + Purpose of the Character). The character can be played normally within the parameters of the purpose. In other words, they shouldn't be constantly featured as a character. A homeless guy in an alley should primarily sit in his alley and not really move from there. And only be mentioned when relevant. They can be smutted up, but again I reiiterate they're not full-on characters and should not be constantly featured in the roleplay.

Shadows: As the roleplay progresses, I'll be introducing various types of Shadows to the players.
Players are welcome to mass spawn as many Category 1&2 Shadow types into the roleplay as they like.
Though there are certain rules, mainly considering their strength and appearance (strictly during the Dark Hour).
Category 3 Shadows however are one of a kind, and like regular humans will require a simple character Sheet (Basic Info + Powers). Again they can be used for smut... though I'm wondering if I should be moving this up from Bondage to Non-Con? What do people think?

*Basic Info refers to; Name, Height, Age, Hair/Eye Color.

Whoo, that's alot of info drop. But for sure, Takuya will be from somewhere else for sure before winding up in Revius City. I can see Takuya kicking back easily in this new hotel place waiting to see how he's going to fail this next Shiki bonding, and then being surprised at the new types that're gonna show up. =p Like the feeling of keeping ones expectations low and being pleasantly surprised.

May also mean he's just meeting even other Occultist folks for the first time.

The Shadow tidbit though. Takuya was just all for the novelty and amusement of flirting with something that looked female but wow, going that far? Probably shouldn't jump on that idea wagon just yet... I mean, I'm all for the majority votes, so whatever happens, I'll be here. :3

That being said, the game may lose its amusing slice-of-life-ness if we start treading into that territory. Leki did want for this to have lighter tones even though some dark themes would be explored. Then if we did want to consider that, we'd have to figure what the motive was for it... I mean, I could think of a few ideas...

Hmm... This is pretty valid. More freedom of movement is certainly a welcome boon, since being in Bondage makes it so that you still need to play within the rules of being nice... And true, 1 hour of possibly bad things each night is much less than 24 hours of grand amusements and hilarity.

So, yeah, alright, sounds like SS had a bettwr understanding and grasp of the world than I did. o= We can still do most of everything we wanted, but now there's an extra gate open for any of us who wants to mess around in that dark around really of sorts.

So, with that in mind, and if it won't cause any problems among the players (since optional rather than required), I'll throw my lot in for a board change to NC-Exotic. =p

@Leki What is it about your games that make people move? It seems like someone is always moving when you start a game. xD

Speaking of interactions with characters  I'm seeing a scene where Hazuki and Laphren are arguing about the best way to take over a country/start an empire. And she's definitely going to try to throw a feast at some point and try to get everybody drunk for the fun of it. Also may or may not try to get whoever's in charge drunk to get access to the government accounts so she can start acquiring stuff.

As for Haru, so many things to do with him. Prank buddies with Takuya, poking the bear (Laphren), trying to take the more prideful characters down a peg or two and just in general messing with them. Probably some kind of shiki team up with Ari to play with the humans and or being chased around by the wolf whose trying to eat him after Haru messed with his food. xD

A lot of the time, the moving is actually being done by me xD
But yeah, odd trend I've noticed too. And it generally involves a flight too xD
Though in regards to who's in charge of the government aspect, there's two options.... you've met both men before, and I don't think you want to be interacting with either unless you absolutely have to xD
Hint: One's bald and round, while the other has a magnificent goatee

As SS mentioned, we can keep things light and fluffy during the day.
Shadows will only be appearing during the Dark Hour and they vanish in a puff of black smoke once the hour is over anyway. So if there is non-con the character can live... even if they look like a used condom.

The question is less about the theme of the roleplay, and more about who'd be interested in non-consensual scenes.
I can do them if necessary, but I will admit I don't really have a tendency towards them. Something about people screaming in pain and hating the world just doesn't strike the right arousal chords with me... for some veryvery peculiar reason 
So yeah, while the overall issue relates to manouverability, at this point it's really more a matter of which individuals want that sort of stuff. If it's just one or two of us, we can keep things where they are.
If there's a fair few of us... then I need to get in touch with a moderator.

-raises hand- technically the kind of 'non-con' I write both giving and receiving results in the victim being a sobbing wreck of pleasure. While it might be against their heart and mind...my characters/situations for non-con are usually the no-no-no- oh yes! Kind. (sorry about disjointed writing I'm currently mobile buying food )

So I'm down for non-con in those situations. Even with characters/genders I normally wouldnt? But I will still have specific hard lines I personally don't cross. Which can be discussed if something comes up.)

So basically, we gotta tread the scene handling carefully if we need to move the forums. Believe me, I do see where you're coming from with those feelings. At the least, it seems SS is of a similar mind (I dislike non-con when it just leads to extreme misery and despair). I guess... Dub-con I'd what I think we have in mind, vaguely? Where they may act/are resistant until act certain point they can't hold back anymore. >_>;

As for hard lines not being crossed, I'm sure all of those have these things... But yeah, Leki's got s point. Twould people being okay with it isn't enough to errant a board change, better to see what the majority wants first. :3 Since we might be introducing things they didn't sign up to read. Sure the choice to participate in the acts or have them happen is up to each person, but if it wasn't what they signed up for in the first place, we'd be inviting nothing but problems without clearing the air with everyone.

Well we could also, if players agree just have a specific thread set up for particular interactions based on the character? This way sex scenes don't actually happen to take up space of the main game thread? So people don't have to read what they don't want to? It's a method I've used before as a co-gm. Plus warning tags can be used for anyone that doesn't want to read something particular.

The game gets two threads per player in the game. Also the move of everything to non-con exotic is a very simple move. The staff don't even find it bothersome, just pm them all the relevant threads and done.

Mind you, this is only if others like the ideas?

I'm also up with characters getting an individual thread so they would not clutter up main threads!
