Quinth Saga (Pathfinder set in an original setting)
« on: January 28, 2018, 08:45:39 am »
I am currently running my first table top campaign as  GM and so I decided to try and run one on here as well. So here is the basics. It is going to be set in the world of Quinth. It is going to be a world of my own design. You are going to start out as lvl 1 adventures. The initial plot hook is your being recruited into an adventuring Guild in the small town of Hellgoth. The name of the adventuring guild is simply Adventure Quest. Sure if you mention the name to any other member or the guild master of the chapter house he will simply tell you that the creator of the guild couldn't come up with any thing better.

So the starting point will be your characters starting in the guild hall getting your first task to test your abilities. When it comes to stats I am not too particular but I do like rolling. I am fine with stat arrays. So I will you give you two options.

Stat Array- 18,17,16,15,14,13 or roll and you can reroll 1s and 2s. If you have one score that is below a 7 or 8 you can instead make it a ten. I don't want to see some one with more than 2 18s in a stat or multiple 20s.

I was thinking of having spots open for 4-5 people. I will run with a group of at max 6 people

All first party books are good to be used. That includes the advanced race guide. No building races but I'll allow the prebuilt races. All classes and archetypes from the books allowed. Also hybrid classes are allowed as well. Also included are prestige as well. The only thing I may not include is mythic.

All pathfinder gods plus I'll allow any others that are not pathfinder.

Though when it comes to clerics and domains you can use the SRD online for pathfinder.

I am in! I have a fighter build I've been dying to try out.

For rolling, though I may do the stat array, do you want us to do the "4d6 drop the lowest" thing, or some alternate method?

Background:
Damien is the son of the "village witch". Everyone knew Esmeralda; she was someone you went to when you had cramps, wanted a
"love potion" or when you had a cold. She just turned up one day seventeen years ago with a babe in her arms and set up shop.
What they did not know was that Esmeralda was not a witch but a powerful Arcanist who for reasons of her own, is hiding in plain sight.
Damien started learning at an early age, watching her mother craft potions for the villages, read the books available to him, practiced
magic and learned to speak different languages.

But he did not have any friends. He tried at first, not that he was ugly or anything, or clumsy or bad at any of the games the other
children played. It was because of he being the witch's son. He was not bullied or anything like that. Just that no one wanted to take
risk with playing with the witch's son. At least Damien had his imaginary friends that he would play in the forest. The lovely little naked
girl he called "princess", or the half boy half goat, the cute dragon with the butterfly wings and of course the three winged
flower girls. They played with him, taught him about nature, their language, and their magic. But has he got older, they stopped appearing.
Then again, he had more responsibilities, like crafting the simpler remedies or delivering the remedies to the other villagers. There were
other chores of course, the firewood, the cleaning and don't forget the cooking. How he longed for something different.

For equipment you can for example just start with a kit for your class. You can start with that for free an use your starting gold (max not average) on what ever. Everything else looks good.

The only thing I don't see is race and class and lvl. You don't have to worry about keeping track of XP as I will basically do milestones of a sort and tell you when to lvl up to the next level.

Sense Motive:  +2       Sleight of Hand: +7   Stealth:              +7      Swim:                +1
Use Magic Device +5

Saving Throws:
Fortitude Save:   +2      Reflex Save:    +7      Will Save:         +2

Class Abilities:
Sneak Attack: If a rogue can catch an opponent when he is unable to defend himself effectively from her attack, she can strike a vital spot for extra damage. The rogue’s attack deals extra damage anytime her target would be denied a Dexterity bonus to AC (whether the target actually has a Dexterity bonus or not), or when the rogue flanks her target. This extra damage is 1d6 at 1st level, and increases by 1d6 every two rogue levels thereafter. Current:1D6
Trapfinding: A rogue adds 1/2 her level to Perception skill checks made to locate traps and to Disable Device skill checks (minimum +1). A rogue can use Disable Device to disarm magic traps.

Feats:
Weapon Finesse:

Defense Racial Traits:
Undead Resistance: Dhampirs gain a +2 racial bonus on saving throws against disease and mind-affecting effects.
Resist Level Drain (Ex): A dhampir takes no penalties from energy drain effects, though he can still be killed if he accrues more negative levels then he has Hit Dice. After 24 hours, any negative levels a dhampir takes are removed without the need for an additional saving throw.

Alternate Racial Trait:
Dayborn: A few fortunate dhampirs were born during the day under the blessings of priests, and their blood has weaker ties to their undead bloodline than others of their kind. Such dhampirs are unhindered by daylight and lose the light sensitivity racial trait.
Vampiric Empathy: Though dhampirs often relate poorly to humanoids, some share an affinity with baser creatures. These dhampirs gain the ability to communicate with bats, rats, and wolves as if under the effects of a speak with animals spell (caster level equal to 1/2 the dhampir’s Hit Dice). In addition, they gain a +2 racial bonus on Diplomacy checks when dealing with these animals. Whenever these dhampirs initiate an exchange, animals begin with a starting attitude of indifferent. This is a supernatural ability. This racial trait replaces manipulative.

Senses Racial Traits:
Darkvision: Dhampir see perfectly in the dark up to 60 feet.
Low-light vision: In addition to their ability to see perfectly in the dark up to 60 ft, dhampir have low-light vision, allowing them to see twice as far as humans in conditions of dim light.

Weakness Racial Traits:
Negative Energy Affinity: Though a living creature, a dhampir reacts to positive and negative energy as if it were undead—positive energy harms it, while negative energy heals it.

Favored Class Options:
Rogue: Add a +1/2 bonus on Stealth checks and Perception checks made in dim light or darkness.

Background:
Dharvan's mother died in the process of giving birth to her only child, the product of her torture and rape by a vampire who had terrorized her village. She had left her home traveling with the man who had freed her from the vampire's grip, slaying the beast. The two falling in love, until she went into labor, the unusual birth leading to her death. His adoptive father kept him and raised him for many years teaching him how to fight and to move unseen. Dharvan was still young when the human passed away leaving him alone in the world. Often he was able to blend in with the humans so he stayed in the larger towns living off the streets.

Growing up fully on the streets Dharvan learned the way of the rogue from another man who saw him thieving one day, seeing potential in the boy he brought him under his tutelage taking a percentage of Dharvan's take in return for further training. The man realizing what he was dealing with after several years and Dharvans lack of aging like others, cast him out afraid of the pupil who he had trained. Old superstitions over ruling his own trust and eagerness to take profit from him. Once again alone Dharvan has been looking for his place in life moving from place to place never staying on one too long lest he be discovered for what he is.

from what I remember each class has their own starting wealth number. I think fighters might have more than lets say a wizard.

Oh yeah, fighters roll 5d6x10, so max would be 300. Even with my gigantic hammer costing 40, that's enough to get me Splint Mail (200), which is a gigantic +7 to AC. I could go for Banded (250) which is +7 and a Max Dex of +1 (Splint has a max dex of +0), but I want some extra gold for other stuff.

Also, are we using traits or are we high powered enough?

I will allow for a max of 2 traits. You are more than welcome to pick alternate racial things as well. As for traits no stacking of tracks to add to the same thing like....increases to initiative. You can only do this by having it come from different sources like a alternate racial ability.

3) What languages are there in your world? I have a few yo pick
4) Does my arcanist have to belong to a particular school for magic?

1) After doing a quick read of the background skill I will allow it for every one.
2) I will just  want to know what spells you have and what is memorized for your character. If there are any changes during the adventure just let me know. If you ever acquire any wands just keep track of the charges etc. As far as material components as long as its not expensive or below 1GP I don't need to see you acquire them. I will assume your character spends what ever time they need to acquire them or I could just assume all casters in my world have that feat that negates those components that are under 1gp in value to make it easier.
3) All the current Languages of Pathfinder exist in the world.
4) You have several options. You can belong to a wizarding school, have been tutored by a mage, self taught or brought up in a family of mages. As far as mechanically I believe that they don't pick schools of magic like a regular wizard does.

I am not sure what a background Skill is??

http://www.d20pfsrd.com/skills/background-skills/

The long and short of it is that skills get divided into the more active "adventuring" skills and the more knowledge based "background" skills. You get two extra skill points for background skills only. Which means that my fighter, with a +3 Intelligence modifier, is getting 6 skill points (2+3 for class and 1 for human) and then 2 more for background. Yay skills.

Hey JaredSyn. Since I don't really like the disconnect between the described age of Dhampirs and the chart that shows age. I will let you use the Elf age chart for your character.

So change his age based on the elf chart instead of Dhampir?
