Middle Earth Type story-F lf M

He had fought them off all, swinging the sword his father left him. None could match his swordsmanship, he was trained by the best. Only the best for the son of a Highlord. But it was for naught, as the brigands had ambushed them from the trees. The carriage horses had panicked, running with blind terror into a cave that reeked of magic and ancient evil. He jumped clear and managed to kill all of his attackers, one by one as they showed themselves, thinking he was easy prey, now that his footmen and knights were dead.

Now he stumbled from the scene, arrows in his back he could not reach to remove. The pain was great, and his eyes blurred with blood and sweat running down his face. Who had attacked them? The neighboring Kingdom was peaceful as far as he knew. These could not be simply highwaymen looking to rob and kill. Even though they had misjudged his skill, he had won...or had he? He was alone now, horses gone, his protectors all slain and the sun going down. He thought he knew these woods, but this looked unfamiliar. Where had the wildly spooked horses taken them?

She had slain the last of the invaders save one, he stumbled off deeper into the cave. It was her duty to the Queen, after all. None would find the hidden Vale of Dreams. In all the years of wars tearing nations apart, the Kalindari had maintained a hidden and peaceful existence. Protected by magic and patroled by rangers who knew every tree and stream in the Daggerspine mountains. How this group had broken through the barriers was hard to say. She would have to report the breach to her superiors. They would send Mages out to repair the damage.

Meanwhile she followed the bloody trail, shaking her head at his foolishness or blindness. How could anyone ignore all the signs? The walls of the cave glowed with a malevolent aura. Even the torch she carried could not stop the darkness from closing in. If he kept going, he would find the traps set by the wizards. Deadly and final, they were swift to trigger. She knew he would die sooner or later. Still she followed him, curious to see how far he would get. Amazed that he had managed to stumble and crawl so far with arrows in his back.

The premise: A young Lord, traveling from one of his father's distant holdings, is ambushed and lost in the hills of the Daggerspine Mountains. No one has ever ventured here and returned to tell the tale. He is about to find out why. She can be Elven, he could be human, up for discussion.

Please note my O/O's and offer your take on the story. I would like to have a creative co writer who is not afraid to compromise, as I am. PM's only please!
