Now I'm confused. Are we in the mess hall or fighting? its kinda hard to write if I'm supposed to be in two places at once

Mess Hall is a general purpose thread for RP within the setting and takes place vaguely before the battle. When we do a time skip/move to a later point in the siege it will be the same thing.
This way you never need to worry about referencing a major change caused by the battle thread. So for instance, if your character took a few bullets during the fighting, they would not magically manifest in the Mess Hall. You can however reference those wounds in the Mess Hall after we update/move ahead. So things will crawl forward in time that way.

I love working 12 hour shifts around Christmas. I have finished my Highlander

Character:Taog MacPhàdraig
Player: IrishWolf

Role: Sergeant in the 81st Finreht Highlanders
Specialties:
  • Endurance; growing up following a Grox herd, carrying everything he owned on his back, has left Taog able to march on, day after day, without needing breaks.
  • Close-quarters combat; like every clansman or clanswoman on Finreht Three-Seven, Taog almost grew up with Claymore, Claybeg and Dirk in hand. The laslocks his people had were old and unreliable and thus he has never been a good shot, preferring to wait until the enemy is close, firing a lone volley before changing in with sword.
  • Tough; medicine on Finreht Three-Seven is limited to washing out a wound and either banaging it or getting a few crude stitches and bandaging it. Combined with their love of close combat, most Highlanders can take scores of minor wounds and keep going

Characteristics:.
Weapon Skill: 8
Ballistic Skill: 2
Strength: 6
Toughness: 6
Agility: 5
Intelligence: 4
Perception: 6
Willpower: 5
Fellowship: 8

Equipment:
  • Claybeg, nothing special, just a steel basket-hilted broadsword
  • Grox hide targe
  • Dirk
  • Mars Pattern Lasgun
  • 2 Frag Grenades, more in rucksack
  • An impressively large rucksack
  • Traditional great kilt
  • Munitorium issue boots and shirt
  • Munitorium issue jacket, which like almost every other Highlander, he has been modifying to be more like the quilted armor of his homeland, sewing in extra patches of Carbon-fibre or Plasfibre, when he can get his hands on it
  • Regiment issue Tam, with the badge of the 81st and the long green-black tail plumage of a Valley Cockerel for a hackle
  • The Imperial Infantryman's Uplifting Primer
  • Whetstone
  • Needle and thread
  • Lho-sticks

Personality:
  • Friendly or at least as friendly as an insular, independent, clannish, nomadic grox herder/rustler, from a cold primitive world, can be. If he accepts you, you won't have a better or more loyal friend
  • Dumb Barbarian, kind of. Sure he mostly illiterate, can’t do higher forms of math or work machinery but does he need these things? He can fight, he can track, hunt, drop him in some uncivilized hell hole and he’ll survive
  • Battle Lust, he really loves to fight

History:
  • Born the son of an Eaorl
  • Grew up leaning his weapons and once he was old enough, joining the menfolk of his clan on Grox raids or joining up in the Huscarles for formal war
  • When he was twenty-one, his clan was unable to give the tribute of Grox at the Great Moot and had to send a “manrent” or a portion of the young warriors of the clan to serve as recruits for the Guard
  • Out of respect for his father’s position, he was made a Corporal. After all, his father wasn’t one of the lowlanders, living around the spaceport, so he’d never be an officer.
  • Seven years in the 81st has seen him promoted to Sergeant and the death of two of his kinsman, along with the addition of a younger cousin to his squad.

Relationships/Connections:
  • Seumas MacPhàdraig - cousin KIA
  • Harailt MacPhàdraig - cousin KIA
  • Ciorsdan MacPhàdraig - cousin, private in his squad
  • Dubh MacPhàdraig - cousin, serving as a corporal in his squad
  • Gille MacPhàdraig - brother MIA

Additional Details:
  • Like most other Highlanders, he keeps his face shaved, the better to show off the swirling blue and black tattoos on the right side of his face, which have continued down his neck, over his right shoulder and down to his right arm, detailing in their way, his clan, lineage and battles fought. He lets the dark hair on his head grow long and wild though.
  • Desperately looking to either find out of his brother lives or was killed in action

Are we assuming all of our characters met at some point before the IC events?  We haven't quite interacted in the tavern area too much yet.

All casual conversations should be moved to the OOC (posted below) so we don't clutter the threads and bump this one unnecessarily.
