Once upon a time in the magical land of Equestria, there was a terrible war. A war between pony kind, and the agents of chaos. And the ponies were losing. As their subjects were cut down in waves by the forces of chaos the princesses desperately searched for a means of stopping the war and putting an end to the chaos. In these desperate times a desperate plan was put into motion. With the aid of the royal wizard Starswirl the Bearded, and the royal blacksmith Adamantium, a terrible machine was constructed. One that if used would change Equestria forever. Just as the device was completed however, the princesses had discovered something just as powerful, the elements of harmony. With the aid of these magical gems the princesses were able to stop the chaos and seal away the monster known as Discord. With disaster averted the princesses then had a new dilemma. What to do with the machine. At first they thought to destroy it, but what if another evil more powerful than Discord fell upon Equestria again? The device was sealed away, so deep that in time even the princesses forgot of its existence. But it would soon be discovered again...

Setting
The town of Ponyville is where our story begins. Princess Twilight Sparkle's palace looms over the hamlet and all it's happy inhabitants. Things have been quiet for a while in the magical land of Equestria, with no dire threats to pony kind calling Twilight and her friends away. For the time being it is business as usual. But all that is about to change soon.

Rules
1. Follow all Elliquiy rules, pretty self explanatory.

2. I am Princess Celestia in this forum and what I say goes. Please don't make me have to excise this power. The crown and shoes and necklace are pretty and shiny and I may not want to take them off.

3. This is a pg-13 rp. Romance is fine, there will be fights, but keep it in check. We don't need Game of Thrones level blood baths and if you feel the need to write some clop take it to the pms.

4. No god modding. I shouldn't need to say this one.

5. Once you have filled out a character profile pm it to me for approval. Once approved you may post in the rp. (Once it's up and running that is.)

Notes:
If you would like you may play a background pony, but any major characters like the Mane 6, the princesses, Discord, Chrysalis, Shining Armor, etc. will be off limits in the beginning. As things progress I may open up the mane 6 to be claimed and played but any other major character will be played by myself as they are needed, or if you can earn my trust and ask nicely I may allow you to post for someone, but again they will only appear if and when the story requires them.

Also though you may be any of the races I would prefer were we still heavier on the equines. So if you wish to play something like a dragon or griffin or yak or a more exotic race I will most likely only approve one of each so if you want to play one of them let me know as soon as possible before the spot is taken.

Glad to see someone else is interested in us. If we get one more person interested I'd say we could open the rp and start once everypony got a profile in. Five people (including myself) seems like a good starting group.

To anyone who has been interested I just edited the profiles a bit. I got rid of the age and added a spot for their appearance. Something I believe is a bit more important since you need to know what someone's character looks like.

I edited the profiles again to include personality. And with that edited here is our first character!

Name: Steel Sparks
Race: Unicorn
Appearance:

Steel Sparks is a dark gray unicorn with a maroon colored mane and maroon eyes. Her mane and tail have a single thin purple stripe down them. Her main has a single small curl at the end and falls just below her face when she isn't wearing it up in a pony tail. Her tail also has one large curl in it.
Cutie Mark: A hammer striking a black anvil with three sparks coming off it, two on the right, one on the left.
Special talent: Steel sparks is a blacksmith. An expert in her trade she can make anything from nails and horseshoes, to weapons and armor, up to wagon parts and beams for construction. She has special forging spells and can enchant weaponry and armor. She also has a fine eye for detail and can even do jewelry work. If it's made of metal Steel Sparks can make it, repair it, or improve it.
Occupation: She is setting up her own forge in Ponyville. She used to be an apprentice to Iron Anvil, the royal blacksmith in Canterlot.
Personality: Steel is a hard worker. She is driven, dedicated, and goal oriented and will make sure she gets the job done. Though a bit of a hard ass Steel still has her friendly side. She like a good practical joke from time to time and messing around with her friends. A loyal friend you can always count on Steel Sparks to have your back, be it when a crazy idea, an argument, or even a fight.
Bio: Steel Sparks was born the only child to a family in Canterlot. However she was not part of the aristocracy or the elites. She came from one of the lower class families that made up the outskirts and workers for Canterlot. Her father was a tailor and her mother a jeweler and their little family got along fine. However, as fate would have it when Steel Sparks was very young her family was given a great opportunity. A noble pony of the court had noticed her mother's work and ordered a rather ornate necklace and ear ring set. When the order was finished Serenity's mother brought her with her to the castle to deliver it. But as her mother was here on business Little filly Steel Sparks had other plans. She snuck away from her mother and wound up lost in the bowels of Canterlot Castle. She wound up wondering into the forge and watching a large unicorn hammer out a new helmet. She was mesmerized at how he used his magic and his tools to craft something so fine from something so crude. When the buck stopped to take a break Steel just knew she had to try her hood at whatever it was he had been doing. Creeping along the floor the determined filly set to work.

As guards began patrolling the castle for a little lost filly it was actually the royal blacksmith Iron Anvil that found her. When he had returned to his he had been quite surprised to see a little lass at work on another helmet. When he approached the worried mother she was being consoled by the princess herself. The worried mate and ever regal looking princess looked up to see a little filly, with a tiny royal guard helmet on her head, skipping towards them with the blacksmith, a brand new cutie mark emblazoned on her flank. Anvil told them he had never seen a foal with such talent, and that he wished to take her on as his apprentice. And so it came to be that Steel Sparks went from the outskirts of the city to living in the palace. She loved her work and eagerly took in all the wisdom her teacher had to offer. And not long after she started did Anvil take on another apprentice. This new young earth pony buck was just as eager as Steel was to learn from the royal blacksmith and the two became very close. Growing up together as they did they even began to view each other as family.

Steel and her new best friend were inseparable. The two would play together, study together, work together, they were never apart. They would even sneak into the library late at night together to study the history of their trade together. Steel and her friend both gained a huge fascination with the greatest blacksmith there ever was. Adamantium, the first pony to discover how to work with the metal for which he is named and was able to use this special material to make the finest armors and weapons.  Steel's friend even said he could trace his ancestry back to the legend himself. The two worked together to try and solve the great mystery Adamantium left behind, where his legendary forge was and how to work the mysterious metal. The two dreamed of one day setting out to solve this mystery together once they were older.

But things would not remain so perfect. As time went on what had started out as a familial bond turned into a bitter rivalry. The two young ponies both knew that only one would stay on to eventually take their master's place, and each wanted it to be them. Steel knew she was better than her fellow apprentice, she had to be. She spent day and night crafting, studying, learning new tricks and spells and the history of her art. As Steel's skills improved her friend began to resent her. He blamed her magic for being why the master seemed to pay more attention to her. One night the two's fighting escalated to a hoof fight. In the heat of the moment words were exchanged that couldn't be taken back. The last words Steel Sparks heard from her best friend were, "I hate you."

After that terrible night the buck disappeared. Steel continued her training, but things were never the same after that night. Eventually her master decided it would be best for her to try striking out on her own for a while. He wanted her to get out of Canterlot, see some of Equestria, and make some new friends. So Steel packed up her things and set out for a little adventure. She headed to the town of Ponyville, who's local blacksmith had recently retired.

Name: Ryu Rogers
Race: Earth Pony
Appearance: Dark blue mane and tail, mane being long and straight, normally coming down to his hip area, tail normal in looks. Eyes a light green color, the main body a light blue. Some muscle, though not quite Big Mac (/color][/size][/b] Cutie Mark:
A broadswords with a serpent dragon-like hilt.
Special talent: Sword user that seeks to create his own style of Swordsmanship.
Occupation:  Mercenary that usually require his sword skills, normally protection or defense.
Personality: While he is driven to be a swordpony, he does have a bit of angst due to his past (Explained below), but he does attempt to try and be friendly but is known to sometimes be a tad overly serious due to his line of work and can come off as a bit intimidating.
Bio: Born on an island where the most swordponies train to hone their art, he was easily a colt who has been training since age 5. However, his older brother, Ko Rogers, was apparently given more attention due to his age and his promise in both skill and knowledge. Despite this, Ryu still trained and sought to equal his brother, managing to gain some notice, but Ko, being at least 6 years older, managed to always be a step ahead. Eventually, Ko left on a pilgrimage around the world, seeking to hone his skills and train himself to become better. Ryu was at least 10 when that happened. Turning 16 sometime later, he left and decided to go on a similar pilgrimage for the same reasons. That was 5 years ago and while he has managed to make a living as a mercenary, he also has recently received word that his brother has stopped contacting his parents, raising the question of where he might be and has he fallen?
