Topic: IM information?

I like IMs. I've been role-playing for over a decade, and almost every friendship I've struck up has been via IM. It's also where I usually discuss games and OOC details.

This makes a forum where I can't advertise my IM information problematic, and since Yahoo/AIM/ICQ are basically dead (and I can't post my username for AIM anyway because E cuts it off) I'm wondering if there's any chance that E will ever fix this?

i.e., include room in profiles for IM services that work / people use, or maybe create a Discord server for E?

I know there are places I can post this information on the forum, but most people don't expect to find them there and skim things like O&Os so it's really not the same. And adding another step (having to PM people and enquire about this info) in what is already a complicated and failure-prone process is really not desirable.

It's not an ideal solution, but could I link this information in my signature? As in create a link button that links to a separate post in my O&Os, or something, so only members can follow it?

Unapproved members can't see signatures, so yes, you can put your IM info in your signature if you want to.

Elkarte is the next incarnation of the forum software (we're currently on a tweaked version of SMF as I recall.)
