Post Character Limit?
« on: June 18, 2017, 12:14:08 am »
Hello!

I attempted to look this up elsewhere but I didn't find it (obviously). What is the character limit for posts?

Should be something like 65535 characters, thought special characters, like & and " can count as more than one at times, if I remember rightly.

Hmm. Would the inclusion of multiple list items also throw things off?

65535 characters is correct.  Coding (like for lists) could through it off I think, but I haven't tested it to see by how much etc.

Not 100% sure, but I think BBCode is included in the limit, and its special characters (like [ and / ) are the same as any other special characters used (and can count as more than 'one' in the character count), but that's something I'm not super certain about.

Coding effects the character limit. This can be proven easily by going into your profile > forum profile and within signature you can see how the bb code effects the current limit of that 9000 words. I don't see why it wouldn't be any different in forum posting. Though 65k is hefty number to break unless you are writing some book in a single post.
