I wanted something unexpected so I chose ponyta

Bekah Boo

Heh I'll admit I've always been a huge fan of the ghost Pokémon myself ;3

Metraxa

Mine was a carefully calculated choice for the future, when Skitty evolves into Delcatty, and then Aiden can use it as an assistant to help him get good pictures of Pokemon in their natural habitat. Or something like that.

ZephySempai

You guys are hilarious. Just wanted to point that out. Got alotta stuff to reply to so imma try and cover everything along with today's updates!

Work in Progress

Spoiler: Click to Show/Hide

Name: Greyen "Grey" Kuramochi

Age: 23

Gender: Male

Sexual Preference: Straight

Personality: Looking quiet on the outside, one might think Grey to be an introvert, a selfish person who keeps to himself. Part of that is true, due to Grey's ambition to be a Pokemon Trainer, or at least be strong enough to impress Erika of Celadon, whom he possesses a fan-like crush on. In order to fulfill his goal, Grey often trains the Dratini which he rescued near the Celadon Pond, as well as himself to be a better trainer while keeping the welfare of his pokemon in his heart. Not obsessed with winning, Grey focuses on the art of training, combat tactics and pokemon fighting styles in order to gain an advantage in battle. As Erika prefers things which are beautiful, his style of combat is molded around that belief.

Home Town: Celadon City, Kanto

Starter Pokemon: Dratini (Zuroki)
Spoiler: Click to Show/Hide

Background: (Brief history of your character)

Best Experience With Pokemon:

Worst Experience With Pokemon: While tending to plants one day, Grey looked up to see a low-level flock of Pidgeys, only to be pelted by bird-droppings as a reward.

Other: (Any other tidbits you'd like to add)

So far so good. I'll hold off on fawning over my likes until you're finished. Just post here or PM me.

I missed my computer. And internet. And bed. Mmm, bed ...
Got sheet roughly done, I hope, will go pass out now.
(Also, regarding the Team Rocket/Skull thing, I'm not sure how many of you have seen this video, but this is what always comes to mind with those two;

Character

Name: Shizu Katsura

Age: 19

Gender: Female

Sexual Preference: Uncertainly Bisexual

Personality: Clearly intelligent and curious in the extreme, Shizu has a rather noticeable lack of tact or restraint. If she finds something interesting she will observe it, no matter how inappropriate the subject matter is, and the concept of personal boundaries or space is rather ... different in her eyes. While very possessive when dealing with those she considers to be outsiders and unwilling to disturb their areas or belongings, the opposite is true for those she considers to be 'hers', especially her Zangoose who rarely seems to be in a pokeball and seems to be very close to Shizu.
Shizu's usual behaviour around other people (and pokemon, which she views as mostly the same thing) is mostly a slightly wary curiosity, while friendliness is met with warmth and innocent hugs and physically displays of affection. Hostility, on the other hand, typically causes her to fall back on the instincts picked up from the Zangoose and, if pushed, she has the potential of being quite vicious.

Home Town: Fuchsia City/Safari Zone, Kanto

Starter Pokemon: Zangoose (Kagami)
Spoiler: Click to Show/Hide

Background: The only daughter of a rather infamous pokemon research, Shizu happens to be the reason for most of her mother's notoriety. From the age of six the girl was, more or less, left to fend for herself with only pokemon to interact with as part of a highly questionable experiment related to the natures of humans and pokemon. It's not known just how long this experiment was suppose to continue for as it ended quite abruptly when Shizu was fifteen.
Her time alone with pokemon had shown that certain pokemon were willing to accept young humans into their groups and care for them, fortunately for Shizu, and she ended up being adopted by a small pack of Zangoose, Shizu lack of strength relative to the pokemon offset by her natural human intelligence.
While, for obvious reasons, leaving a child out to be raised by pokemon was widely condemned, the experiment did gather some interesting information before it was shut down, and has furthered or cast serious doubts upon several theories regarding very early human-pokemon interactions.

While most of the Zangoose were - reluctantly - willing to allow Shizu to be taken from them without incident, one young female and Shizu were quite adamant that they not be separated and, considering their long familiarity, that Zangoose was permitted to stay with Shizu. She technically has a pokeball for Kagami, as Shizu later named her close friend, but has not actually used it yet and she shows no intention of ever doing so.

Educated after her long absence from human society, Shizu quickly displayed a strong, keen mind, absorbing and understanding surprisingly complex matters in only a short amount of time.
With her rather unique knowledge of pokemon and her curiosity and intelligence, it came as little surprise when she decided that she wanted to study such matters in more depth. Hopefully without the whole child abandonment thing.

Best Experience With Pokemon: The precise details of the situation have not been entirely remembered, but Shizu still recalls the first night the Zangoose truly accepted her into their group, and the remembered feeling of being the centerpiece of a surprisingly cuddly mass of sleepy Zangoose - all of whom she would grow to consider family - is still one of her warmest memories.

Worst Experience With Pokemon: While the Zangoose - Seviper feud is infamous and well known, the introduction of Zangoose into other areas provoked several other, less documented skirmishes. One notable encounter was when a small foraging group consisting of the (at the time) ten year old Shizu and three Zangoose strayed into the territory claimed by a nest of Ekans and an old Arbok. While the Ekans were little match for the Zangoose, the Arbok attempted to attack Shizu (to be fair, she had just hit a couple of its children with a stick) and the experience has left the girl absolutely terrified of Arbok in specific and the majority of serpentine pokemon in general.

Other: While she has learned that it is not considered at all acceptable (although she cannot understand why), Shizu is quite careful to hide just how close she and Kagami are, the human and pokemon viewing each other as somewhere between sisters and lovers, although both are new to such feelings and haven't explored them much.

She looks like Mei from Overwarch. Mei is Bae. You are accepted on that basis alone. But just to pretend like that isn't enough reason, I really love the concept you chose: the wild child raised partly by Pokemon but still an intelligent human herself. The awkward social situations I'm picturing in my head are glorious. Gotta love a cute girl who doesn't understand personal space lol. I'm also very interested in the *cough* relationship between her and her pokemon... for purely scientific reasons of course *Cough*.

Ah what the hell, my interest is piqued. I'll write something up. XD

On that note, I kind of want to bring something up for the sake of keeping the discussion rolling in here. I've messaged our wonderful GM regarding an idea to lower the number of pokemon you can carry count to 3 instead of the traditional 6. While I know this deviates from the game and lore, I personally think it's a worthwhile alteration to make for several reasons;

1) Cooperation: Since this is a group roleplay, I figure that cooperation and collaboration between the characters is a key component of the roleplay. Having six pokemon however allows people to have an accessible superpower for each, multiply that by 4 if the moveset thing is followed. Need to get to a high place? Travel over water? Sniff out something fishy? Light in dark places? Just call a pokemon out and it's all kay. Limiting pokemon to three encourages better choices and people to work together.

2) Relevancy: It's all good in the game (and to a degree anime) for a protagonist to have six pokemon, but if we have ten players and each has 6 pokemon... that's 60 pokemon. Nothing wrong with that many pokemon in a pokemon roleplay, but with each additional pokemon added the significance of the others declines. Using Bekah's Zoey for an example, the relationship between Ghastly and Zoey really help develop and express the character, whereas 5 more would subsequently retract the time spent in the limelight, hence less importance. I suppose we could do the pikachu thing we're one pokemon matters and the rest are mob characters though.

3) Easier to keep track off... okay not really a reason, I just felt I needed another point since I said I have a "several reasons."

The final decision is obviously up to our lovely GM, and the response I've gotten from them is that they're "Thinking about it." So this is more a open question to see what others think. I just think people would like to know something like this now, rather than having it dropped on them mid-roleplay. And... I'll admit, I want stuff to read while I busily work on a character.

Gotcha ;)

Lol, but seriously, I've been putting a lot of thought into it sin e your initial PM and have also read the comments here. I think I can agree that limiting the amount of Pokemon to 3 would be a good idea for the (2.5) points you raised. I really wanna make it some sort of plot related situation instead of simply Academy Says So. Of course, players are allowed to catch multiples but excess PokePals'll be beamed up to the mothership until they are needed.

Name: Evangeline Beaux

Age: 22

Gender: Female

Sexual Preference: Lesbian

Personality: A friendly face during a dreary day. A positive voice when things get low. And a friend who will always be honest, no matter what. That sums up Evangeline nicely. In depth, she's a go-getter, an ambitious woman who won't let trivial things get in the way of her greatness. She is confident in her abilities as a trainer, a friend, and striving for something greater than most people would dream about. Some might find this to be cocky, arrogant, or annoying - but thats further from the truth. Like everyone else, she has quite a few ups and downs. Evangeline can be stubborn, doing things that may not be obtainable, and in the end - it hurts her. At times she can be too outspoken, but it is a trait that she is willing to deal with - as long as it doesn't get her into too much trouble.

I'd like to say that Kenji's powers do come at a cost.

Telepathy is one target only and requires concentration (in which other abilities can't be used); His fire powers are rather basic too; I'm putting a hard limit on the actual attack abilities, namely a sort of "lesser flamethrower" ability which is just a burst of flames in a single direction. (which can be held as a concentrated ability)

Without actual materials nearby or on hand; the fire powers are quite taxing, akin to trying lift an empty bookcase.  A loophole is that with flammable materials on hand it becomes much easier (cuz he's only creating the ignition which consumes teh fuel as compared to constantly producing the necessary energy)

My main concern is with the application of his abilities. The minor psychic abilities I'm cool with, however the mind reading and firepowers could be a tad overpowering. I'd say, for the time being, it would be acceptable for him to generate heat from his hands and possibly produce some small flames, but attackwise nothing as of yet. He'd be unable to release any types of offensive abilities until much later on. If we can agree on that, I will have no reservations on his acceptance :)

Maybe one of the many researchers we have'll figure out how to help him out with that.

Now for updates and future plans! As of before the latest editions of characters, the Information Thread as been completed! I will be posting it up tonight along with the dorm assignments and the Official OOC :D

In the Information Thread I'll have everyone repost their character sheets there so they're nicely organized.

------------------------------

I plan on releasing the IC thread tomorrow. My question to the group is how should it be divided up? I'm leaning towards 3 IC threads: On Campus, Dorms, & Off-Campus.

On campus for classes n social stuff. Dorms for more private events. Off-Campus for missions, events, or just exploring and relaxing.

I'm feeling NC Exotic for the board just in case ^_^

Snake

That would work.

Perhaps it can be part of his character growth? Like he can't manage much past really basic stuff like making sparks or heat.

LIke all he has to start are utility powers.  I was just putting the mind reading in since that, in my mind was how he was trained. Perhaps he can only do with the other rare psychics?

Just to clarify then, Snake's "Kenji" is accepted on principle, and delay/issues are solely with his powers (specifically those that are potentially combative) right? I'm just making sure since the concept I'm currently working on is pretty far fetched as well. (Nothing to do with being a physic or being partially pokemon though).

Glad to hear that the 3 pokemon thing seems to be winning favor  :P

And three IC threads sounds good, cause you know I love the number '3' <3

Snake

Indeed. I also PM'ed Zephy early on about a character that's part pokemon thanks to SCIENCE! and he was amused by the concept. And apparently he likes psychics.

Since you have two threads per player, you can likely divide dormitory threads between various people that are roommtes together, and leave much more threads open to other campus related venues.

Okay done! Feel free to rip it to shreds Zephy <3

Name: Dhi-004
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Sexual Preference: Heterosexual
Home Town: Cerulean City
Starter Pokemon:
Magnemite (Unit 599)

Personality: Dhi-004 has quite a flat personality; expressing little emotion and always speaking in a monotonous tone. Being a practical individual who prioritizes logic over emotion she struggles with the concept of emotion and empathy, and is known to frequently states her brutally honest opinions with little regard for the consequences that might result. Her speech pattern likewise is usually short and crisp, with her sentence preceded by an overarching summary of the words to come. Although she’s highly intellectual; especially in the areas of maths and science, her knowledge of the common world is quite impeded resulting in her not understanding concepts and facts that even children would know. Although she has no real dreams nor ambitions to speak of, she’s mildly intrigued by the relationship between both humans and pokemon.

Background: Dhi-004’s story starts with her demise. Her body discovered brutally murdered and abandoned in the deepest depth of Rock Tunnel. Her death quickly became a controversial one due to the girl being from a highly affluent family in Saffron City, however the real controversy came when the authorities were unwilling to identify the cause of death, nor rule out the possibility that the crime was committed by a culprit that may not have been human. Regardless of how tragic an event is though, the world must go on. And with no repeat incidents the event faded from the mind of the masses and life went on as usual for everyone else.

Having lost his wife early, and then his only daughter a decade later. The girl’s father was torn with grief and gradually withdrew himself from public life. Within a year he’d resigned from his prestigious position amongst the board of Silph Co and sold the family estate. He soon vanished from Saffron altogether and retired to spend his remaining days quietly in Cerulean. All however was not how it seemed, and the beneath the surface of his humble home, a sinister project was underway. Assisted by the nefarious Team Rocket in exchange for financial sponsorship, a team of scientists tirelessly worked on replicating their acquired cloning technology from a previous project. After several attempts they succeeded in recreating a living body for the deceased girl, but the girl remained motionless and brain-dead. Several days later the facility was engulfed in a blast of fiery flames and all those within perished. The authorities discovered the facility but could not identify its purpose, nor the cloned body.

A year later a girl almost identical to the girl would be enrolled into the distant Pokken Academy. Identifying an artificially constructed mechanical construct, the Android creators have sent her in for data-collecting purposes.

Best Experience With Pokemon: When Dhi-004 awakened, the first thing she witnessed was a gaggle of spherical machines orbiting around her. Like a newborn she immediately sought a bond with them, and has held an unwavering connection with one particular magnemite ever since. The two have been inseparable ever since with Dhi-004 identifying U599 as its core unit.

Worst Experience With Pokemon: Dhi-004’s encounter with pokemon is severely limited. She’s not aware of what constitutes as a ‘worst experience.’ But she identified the gradual power shortage and ceased operation of most of the magnemite present at her awakening as a failure and something that has impacted negatively upon he activation of her systematic efficacy.

Other: The hardware for Dhi-004 is predominantly biological, however the software is cybernetic, resulting in her ability to engage and communicate with mechanical devices to be uniquely adept, a skill which is highly useful in gaining unauthorized access. Dhi-004 considers herself to be a machine and hence aligns herself with gadgets more than humans and pokemon.

So... she's a zombie android? *Nods* Nothing weird about that. Totally normal. But seriously, I'm intrigued. I feel like there's waaay more to it than what you've given me. You're such a tease >.< I like it though. Subtle, but with so many different avenues in where it can go. My only question:

Who in the academy knows what she is? Is it a guarded secret? I'll even accept that Team Rocket bribed a few of the Academy Heads into sneaking her in with the opportunity to observe her actions (Some financial gains never hurts either) Answer me that in either her History or the Other notes and you'll have gained my Badge of Approval!

Rynn

Secrets are secrets for a reason *nods*  :P
I can change it up pretty easily if it's an issue, but I thought it was pretty obvious that her android status would be publicly known from parts like her "Identifying an artificially constructed mechanical construct" and "Dhi-004 considers herself to be a machine and hence aligns herself with gadgets more than humans and pokemon." She's not going to keep what she is a secret by any means, so it might as well be public knowledge.

The zombie aspect on the other hand is another matter. I kind of want to reiterate that she technically not a zombie because the body is a cloned body and is separate from the original deceased body. To an extent that's like me saying I ate beef last night, so I'm a zombie cow. Anyway, associating her with the dead girl is negotiable. I do like the idea of someone knowing the dead girl and being spooked by the resemblance, but the dead girl aspect is more background and doesn't even need to be brought up in the RP. I could easily have just said "Scientists made a robot and sent it to Pokken."

Final note, I never really specified that she was sent to Pokken by Team Rocket. She was created by them sure, but I intentionally left out who 'reprogammed' her out of the vegetative state. It could be rocket, it could be Silph Co, it could be some crazy cult of Scientology! If you really want an answer I can tell you via PM?
