"What do we say to the family who loses somebody over a terroristic (sic) — to whether it's Atlanta or San Bernardino or the Boston bomber?" Spicer said on "This Week."

Bold part mine. So - now there has been a terrorist attack in Atlanta??  These people live in an alternate reality obviously.  Of course, he later emailed ABC and said he "clearly" meant the Pulse Nightclub attack in Orlando. The gunman in the Pulse shooting was a U.S. citizen of Afghan descent.

I just .. this is beyond ridiculous.

One of them-there states that isn't New York.

On an unrelated note, I keep wondering if he's got a relative named Jack...

Now that is an insult to poor Jack. Its not his fault others in his family are less intelligent than him. ::)

(Man I remember seeing that show on Tv when I was younger. Such a shame Saturday morning cartoons aren't a thing anymore :/)

Dude. The WH website had a page dedicated to Melania's bling line at the same time when human rights, the environment and the judiciary were wiped out.

That's why she's suing the Daily Mail for $150 million.

Supposedly the fact that they printed an article stating that she used to work as an escort has tarnished her good name so much she can't make her own millions selling her stuff.  Personally, I think she decided it would be easier to make her own millions by suing someone and just waited around for the Daily Mail to say something actionable.  ::)

It was mentioned as part of her bio but has been removed.  (QVC, which had previously offered some of her items has gone on record saying that they do not have an active relationship with the brand at this time.)

I'm sure Trump won't fire her no matter what (though I am itching to start a petition to get her gone), but it will be interesting to see the fallout from this.  Conway already sometimes seems uneasy with the lies she has to tell, so I'm wondering if she might resign if things get much worse.  But this is what you get when you take a job like this one for the most unpopular US president ever.

See, stuff like this, how are they not hurling lawsuits at her or dragging her ass to some kind of court? Why is it "she may have"? She did! She totally, 100% did! I hope there's fallout. I hope there's a lot of legal, stuck in court rooms, "you broke the damned law" kinds of fallout!

I don't sound vindictive, do I? ;) But seriously, it's pretty clear she broke that law, she should be subject to the consequences of such. Otherwise, it's just setting up the idea that they're above the law IMO, which is dangerous as heck.

Ninja response - good to see Nordstorm recovered after only four minutes *laughs* I was not aware of that before I made my last post! Definitely less worrying.

http://thehill.com/homenews/administration/318791-conways-hawking-for-ivanka-triggers-outcry

Well, all that's happened so far is that Conway has been, in Spicer's words, "counseled on the subject," but there's a lot more going on.

Quote
Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.), the ranking member of the House Oversight Committee, followed with a letter to panel Chairman Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) requesting disciplinary action for Conway.

Chaffetz responded by saying that Conway’s remarks were “clearly over the line” and “unacceptable.”

Chaffetz and Cummings are “jointly going to send a letter to the White House and Office of Government Ethics for a referral,” a spokesperson said.

Complaints about the matter to the Office of Government Ethics appeared to crash its website, which was down most of the day Thursday. The agency tweeted that it its website, phone system and email systems had been besieged by “an extraordinary volume of contacts from citizens about recent events.”

The liberal group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington filed a complaint with the office.

Complaints about her crashed the website.  Now I'm wondering if she's just going to be quietly reshuffled to another job where people won't see her.

I hope her ass gets fired and that she ends up facing time in prison.  There is absolutely no excuse for what she did.  None.

I also think that Trump himself should face some consequences for using the official account to feel sorry for his daughter.

He needs fired too.

So it's another very minor heartening note amidst the awful, but Neil Gorsuch denounced Trump's insults directed at the judiciary branch as 'disheartening' and 'demoralizing'.

http://abc7.com/news/gorsuch-finds-trumps-attack-on-judges-disheartening/1744760/

Predictably, Trump is in denial that his chosen nominee would do anything other than wholeheartedly support him:

I have to say that I wholeheartedly agree with everything said here. Minor disciplinary action or a warning is not enough. In the position that she is in, she should know better. Everyone working directly for the president of the united states should have a pretty decent grasp of the law - Including the president himself. She literally used the words "Consider this a free advertisement". There is now way anyone can worm their way out of the fact the she endorsed the product.

My gut tells me it's going to go nowhere though. At best she's going to get a slap on the wrist for the sake of appearances, and then go on bullshitting in every direction.

Cases like these are what I reckon is going to make this administration crumble though. All those little displays of incompetence. The ones that you might forget about, until they've piled up to such a degree that public confidence has all but evaporated. They don't even have that far to go!

Trump already has very low approval ratings as is, as does Congress (right now hovering around 28%), so I'm going to say that public confidence is already at rock bottom. The only real question now is how long it will take before there is a mass revolt.

*Approval ratings for Congress did jump up as of late, from 19%. But they are still quite low.

I knew Trump would become president cuz Hillary betrayed Bernie and Clintons supporters were dicks to everyone else, so you had a ton of protest votes in a broken system nobody complained about when Obama had 50% more delegates but only 5% more votes. And now, no one is doing anything about it. Protesting and rioting wont do shit if you are only a million across the country. During the Weimar Republic, the riots were communists and fascists and in the minority. So in my opinion, Trump came to power because people were dicks because they thought their shitty candidate was better than the other shitty candidate.

I didn't like Hillary either.  I wanted Sanders to win.  But there can be no false equivalence between her and Trump.  She would not have done the things Trump's done.  Not like him.  Sure, they're both corrupt.  But Trump is an idiot, and incompetent, and surrounded by people like Bannon.  Hillary didn't have any fascists like him in her group.  I'm glad Bernie has started the movement to make the Democratic Party more accountable to the people, not wealthy donors.  But even with a corrupt Hillary as President, we wouldn't have seen stuff that Trump has pulled so far.

I am supporting Bernie for 2020.

https://www.facebook.com/senatorsanders/?hc_ref=NEWSFEED&fref=nf

I am struggling to survive on Social Security. I carry health insurance because I need it. Even if I have co pays, it is still cheaper than something utterly private that would be what the GOP wants.

I voted for Hillary. Not because she is a woman, or even the fact she is a Democrat. I voted for the lesser of two evils.

You know.. I'm tired of voting for lesser evils..

My '5 minute' limit on Facebook for till the end of the 100 days is horrible.

I want either party to pull their heads out of their collective assess.. the DNC needs to lose the codger mod in charge (Bernie being the exception so far), the GOP needs to get taking it in the pants for the lobbyists, the president and the extreme right edge of the party.

Personally, despite off the BS it can cause.., I find myself wishing we were a parliamentary system where you can lose control if you break your word to your allied parties.. cause I'm sure some GOP might develop a backbone if they weren't all under the vassal hood of McConnell and Ryan

I've also been longing for cartoons where Trump and people around him are faced with that tagline, "U R fired!". Maybe it was seen as too obvious a joke during the campaign, but now we're here and the guy is actually in power and swinging fast and loose...  ::)

Or join #TheIdesOfTrump.

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2017/2/9/1632039/-The-Ides-of-Trump-what-a-good-idea

There are people in my Indivisible group who are planning on doing this, though we have been discussing some ways to make it more effective (hopefully).  We've been talking about not addressing the cards to Trump since that might, in his mind, count as validation.  "If all these evil, unpatriotic liberals hate me, I must be doing a good job!"  (Or something like that, who knows how he thinks?)  And he loves seeing his name, regardless of context.  "The Republican Establishment" is one option we've been considering, since that turns the spotlight on his enablers, who are supposed to be the ones holding him back from all this chaos.

Also, keeping the messages positive, as in no insults or threats of violence.  I'm thinking something along the lines of what a shame it is that our elected officials didn't listen to the people and how good it will feel when we vote them out.   ;D

I don't think a postcard or a few million of them will help. I do agree with one pundit, in that DT likes attention. So any attention you give him will validate him. It's far better to ignore him. No I do not mean ignore what he is doing! But simply calling him something else and not using his name is going to irritate him. No, I think it is far better to write to your current Congressman or woman, and lay down the facts. The current administration is making the USA a world laughingstock. Far worse than that, is the threat of war if we do not get a handle on this madman and stop him from actually accomplishing any of his horrible policies.

Also, support those who are fighting back!

The one thing about using different names for our Cheeto-in-Chief is that it's harder to keep tabs on all the variants.  ^_^

I'm a little annoyed that our PTO meeting was cancelled last night (snow).  The town I'm in has a high percentage of refugees (and has a bumper crop of those multi-lingual 'We're glad you're here' signs), and the school district is low-income.  I was going to bring up the fact that our Senator has been pretty much in lock-step with T-Rump, and how DeVos's obsession with the voucher system is likely to screw us over.  (Short version:  Charter schools get more money from the vouchers, can afford to pay teachers more, public schools lose good teachers.  Separate but equal isn't.)  Mr. Oniya and I are sort of the gadflies of our district and can actually point to some positive changes and say 'That was us.'
