Here shortly I should have a character sheet for Mr. Pickney himself, though my brain is rattling so at most it will be either tonight or tomorrow when I get off of work that he'll be posted for all to see his scummy, evilness ;3

The Jersey Devil

Appearance Detail: Humanoid, about 5’7”, covered in grey, gold and black fur. His face is elongated, resembling that of a goat. He has orange goat eyes with horizontal pupils. Two curved horns adorn his head. He is bipedal, but his legs are goat-like and he has cloven hooves. On his back are two small, bat-like wings, each only a couple of feet in length. He has long black claws on his four digits (three fingers & thumb).

Name: James Leeds
Stage Name: The Jersey Devil
Age: ~25, although he is convinced he is ~285 years old

Abilities/Infliction James excels at running and jumping; his small wings do not allow for flight but he can glide a fair distance with a running start. Speaking is difficult for him, given his facial structure, but he has managed to learn to read and even write a little (when he had someone to clip his claws for him). He can summon a shriek that terrifies humans. He possesses proportionally massive genitals, which are displayed for an extra fee during the show.

Personality:James believes that he is a demon, specifically the Jersey Devil of legend. As such, he also believes that he deserves to be in a cage, in Pickney’s show, for the safety of humanity. The sympathy he feels for his fellow captives does not make sense to him, so he buries it deep. He presents himself as a lascivious beast, a monster, damned and doomed.

History: James has manufactured memories for himself based on his extensive research of the Jersey Devil legend. He is convinced he was the 13th child of Mother Leeds and that he killed the midwife when he was born. His real memories are only flashes of living alone in stark pine forests, killing livestock to survive. He believes he has killed women and children but recalls no details (this is not true). 

What brought you here? About 3 years ago James was taken in by a “witch,” a woman who frequently used meth, listened to too much death metal,  and was utterly convinced that she had called on the Jersey Devil and he had come to live with her. She took endless pornographic photos of herself with James and posted them to the dark side of the internet where Pickney discovered them. Upon investigation, this cryptid claim proved to be genuine. The “witch” died in an unfortunate but inevitable meth-cooking trailer explosion and James went to live at the Freak Show.

What would you do with freedom? James is convinced that he will go back to murdering people because of his “demonic” nature. He doesn’t want freedom. He should, but he doesn’t.

Abilities/InflictionManipulation, Sadist,Business, Killer; these are the nice traits.
Personality: WIP
History: Mr. Pickney's origins are largely unknown due to the fact many who have known the man are either deceased or 'mysteriously' disappeared without a trace. Many shudder at the mere mention of his name, his presence coining him as the Devil Ringleader, as he silently slips into towns and cities to purge them of oddities for his own use. No one knows just how had come into his fortune to allow him to effortlessly splurge on his dream occupation though there are many rumors floating around, some say he had made a deal with the devil himself, while others conspicuously wonder towards those in his life that have gone 'missing' to blame.Others still profess his circus of freaks is nothing but a front for devil worship itself, as the various ensemble has had quite the turn over throughout the years resulting in many bodies without a name to be dumped into the marshlands of the forest the show resides within.Whatever led him to this life of sadistic glee no one can know for sure but those who do come into contact with the evil man do their up most to remain on his good side, not wanting to be yet another legendary hole he has made for those who have crossed him.
What is it you hope to achieve? Why that is simple my friends, to put on the greatest show of oddities the world has ever seen!
Players On and Offs: Watching others beneath him beg for mercy, Causing pain and suffering, black mail, Abuse and torture, Rape; pretty much any evil thing that pops into his mind.

As far as staff goes we have Mr. Pickney, as well as his assistant and second in charge Aoi

Which means all those have been approved though we are also looking for just a few more to round out the numbers.

Appearance Detail:  6' 6” Tall and slender, he has smooth skin and a gray complexion with large, over proportioned hands. He has sunken features and gray, non-descript eyes. He has no body hair whatsoever, and sprouts a group of four black, prehensile tendrils out of his back. When performing, he keeps them hidden under his suit and usually wears a featureless mask over his face.

Stage Name:  Plasto the Escapist
Age: 20

Abilities/Infliction Caine looks very much like most people's concept of the slender man. His body is very pliable and he is double jointed, making him well suited to his roll as an escape artist. Having grown up on the streets, he has an uncanny ability for stealth and picking locks, making him seem to appear out of nowhere most of the time. He has four black, prehensile tendrils that grow out of his back, and he can use them to manipulate objects as well as his hands. He keeps these hidden most of the time, preferring to project the image of a normal man.
 
Personality: Caine tends to be quiet, preferring to keep in the background as much as possible when he's not performing. He's also incredibly curious and tends to explore as much of hos surroundings as possible. He fears and despises Mr. Pickney for what he does to the him and the rest of the performers, but he's also aware that he really has nowhere else to go, so meekly accepts his fate. He has developed a protective bond with the rest of the performers, feeling that they are like his family, and it's hurting them that could push him over the edge. He's also incredibly claustrophobic, which gives a certain desperation to his performances.

History: Caine was born to a poor family. His mother was addicted to various drugs during her pregnancy, and his father blamed her for Caine's unnatural appearance. He left shortly after the birth. Left alone with his mother, he learned at an early age how to open locks and steal to get her the money she needed for her next “fix”. Even so, he loved his mother, so when she died of an overdose by the time he was 14, it hit him hard. With no place to go, his grandparents turned him over to he local hospital so that the could analyze his deformities. Caine didn't like being locked up though, and so he broke out and took to the streets, hiding and making his way the best that he could for the next 5 years. He thrilled in being able to get into places that he wasn't supposed to go, breaking in to various government buildings and educating himself after hours at the library. His abject lonliness caused him to fall in with a slew of bad elements, who all ended up using him for his abilities and leaving him to fend for himself. When Pickney, told him that he could be a part of something...he jumped at the chance.

What brought you here? Pickney found Caine as he was stealing food from a closed grocery store. Proposing that Caine come work for him, and feeling persecuted by the outside world, Caine agreed hoping to find the home that he never had.

What would you do with freedom? Run and hide...try to find a real family so that he could be happy.

Looks good to me though I do have a few questions;

If he is an escape artist of sorts and able to manipulate locks and such how would Mr. Pickney contain him to where he couldn't escape?
Is there something holding him there? Maybe Mr. Pickney knows the only way to hold him prisoner? After all no one would willingly want to stay if he could escape to freedom under the abuse and torture he will endure so I'm curious.

Yes, I had assumed his chains were more mental, meaning Pickney, and his prior life experiences make him afraid to escape because he's convinced that things aren't any better in the outside world. He stays out of a combination of loyalty to the other freaks, and the feeling that there is really nothing else for him. He can't have a normal life, doesn't deserve a normal life...etc.

Gotcha I think that would work, Mr.Pickney will perhaps take much more time to wind his manipulative control over him as he does with the others, as Caine would prove to be one of the ones he would keep a closer eye on.

That said I'm waiting on one more interested player and with that I am ready to get this started, as long as those who have posted sheets are ready as well.
If there are any interested in staff positions I will allow multiple characters so long as it isn't too much pressure ;3

Update: Either way I feel we have more than enough staff to fill out what we need, though I will keep the interest check open for new blood I mean interested parties. I'll have the IC thread posted and such tomorrow when I get off of work, so if there are any concerns or questions feel free to message me ;3

Oh and one quick thought, for those who have placed interest please include how long your character has been within the circus.
For example Lily has been within Mr.Pickney's care/control since she was a child so this is all she knows.

I will be working on the IC thread for most of the day once I get off from work, though that does not mean that the interest check is closed. I plan on keeping it open for a while and will always accept new players into the mix.
