@Juggtacular

Approved but he needs the 'General appearance' bit filled in. Just an idea of his clothing/style and the 'image' he has. As soon as that's done post him up.

Hey, just wondering are my two people approved so I can add them to the approved character list?

Yes, absolutely. You might want to have a read of Charles's bio and if either of your characters were around during Magneto's betrayal of the X-Men you can add a mention of it to their bio if you like. Not enforcing that though, it's just there if you want the depth of that moment. Obviously the character would've had to be over 18 and with the X-Men 7 years ago in 2010.

Either way Charles's bio still adds a bit more depth to the history of this timeline.

vatovie

Neither one was there because Darwin was still being tested at that point and if Robert was there at the time Charles would still be able to walk.

Good point on both. I thought Darwin wasn't and I didn't have time to check Robert. I just hadn't checked character sheets to see if they would/wouldn't have been there in 2010 until I made it an important year.

He could have been there just pinned to a wall or trapped under a car by Magneto until it was too late to fix Charles, as I imagine a snapped spine is incredibly hard for even him to heal it wouldn't take long to be irreparable. It could even explain how Charles survived the sheer bloodloss/trauma of the injury. Just an option if you want that there, but if you want him to be newer to the X-Men that's fine too.

vatovie

I think I'll have him have shown up soon afterward unable to help with the disability as it healed wrong at this point.

When I read "Femme-Clops" I can only think of women dressed in leather and hooves to cosplay My LIttle Pony.

Well. That's going in the rules. Nobody is allowed to say Femme Clops.

Prodigy

The Basics
Full Name: David Alleyne
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Nationality: American
Occupation: Teacher (Mathematics, aswell as being a substitute in a few other courses if need be.)

Physical Description
Hair Colour: Black
Eye Colour: Brown
Height: 6’2”
Weight: 190
Face Claim: John Boyega
Physical Features:

General Appearance: David typically dresses in a fairly conservative and mild way. A day that means the spotlight isn’t put on him is a good day in his eyes; Long sleeve shirts, button ups, sweaters, and a pair of glasses somewhere between hipster and nerd.

Now that he’s joined as a faculty member of Xaviers, he has been given a ‘uniform’. Though, even compared to some of his peers, it's fairly toned down with solid yellows and blacks combined. A pair of yellow goggles are the only real accents to differentiate him from the standard uniform.

Who they are

Personality:

More than the ability to use other people's skills, David seems to wish that invisibility was his power. An introvert by nature, his upbringing and social situation only increased his discomfort with being at the certain of attention. In a group he tries to fall into the support roles so as to help others while not letting the focus be on him.

He does relish helping others in the ways that he can. The son of a Doctor and a teacher, he understands better than most that no person exists in a vacuum and everyone needs help with something. Sometimes it’s a shoulder to lean on, other times it’s a kind voice to explain a tough concept. It’s one of the reason that he was happy to tutor students privately back at his old university, and why he’s undertaking the same task at Xavier’s.

And while he still hasn’t quite accepted his place in the world as a mutant, he’s had years to intercept the world around him in regards to mutants and humanity. Charles Xavier he views as… well someone he’d like to be one day. A man who only seems to want to help the world, and who is utterly convicted in his beliefs. Though, as Magneto proves, conviction alone is not enough. The idea of Magneto’s proposed genocide, for lack of a better time, turned David’s stomach from the first time he heard it. Is that how mutants will be remembered in the history books? Violent and unwilling to debate? With mutants like that, with that power, David understands the government’s actions. He may not agree with every step they take but the overall goal, trying to ensure those who are a threat to themselves or others aren’t a danger, is a necessary one for the time being.

Biography:  David Alleyne was born to Christopher and Dorothy Alleyne in an upper class suburb of Chicago. From a young age he seemed to excel in school, and his parents were happy to encourage his academic progress. A sense of isolation in the young man just seemed to propel him further. Being the only black child in most of his classrooms made David feel uneasy even from a young age, all of his classmates and even some teachers treating him differently without obvious reason. So instead of trying to break down those walls, he just threw himself into his studies.

It wasn’t until he was 14, starting to apply to colleges, that David realized that the college of his skin wasn’t the only thing that set him apart. His mutant abilities were starting to emerge, letting him know skills that others possessed for as long as he was close to them. And the other thing setting him apart… well, as he was moving through puberty, it wasn’t only girls that caught his eyes. Knowing that there were already so many things that set him apart from other, David did his best to hide himself. Outside of the fact that he was incredibly smart and was  finishing two years early, his graduating class knew almost nothing about him.

Even in college, David found himself not fully able to let loose. Sexuality and Race weren’t the dividers they’d been earlier in his life but mutants were still looked down on if not downright tormented. So he hid, passed as a normal human, did his best to study in private so that he could actually learn the subjects he was trying to excel in. Graduating just a few months after his 18th birthday with a degree in Mathematics, David stayed within Academia and did post graduate work for years until finally the charade broke.

He was 23. Doing grant work for the University, David was part of a team tasked with creating ‘The Mutant Algorithm’. He could never find out who was funding the research, but he could figure out what the ultimate goal was; to quantify the risk factors for mutations, and, from there, to find a way to minimize the mutant birthrate. To end the mutant race quietly, without anyone being the wiser. It was too much for him. David might have hidden himself for years but that sort of long term eugenics plan was too much. The grad student had a mental breakdown before destroying the research and all of its backups and finally revealing to his fellow students that he was a mutant.

Outed as a mutant by one his fellow grad students, David was forced to register with the government. As he was deciding his fate from that point on, he received an invitation for a teaching position at Xavier’s Academy. He accepted within a day of receiving the offer. All he could hope was that teaching young mutants who had the courage to accept who they were long before he did would help make the world a better place.

Superpowers & Equipment

Class: Delta (?)

Power Name:
Psychomimetic: David possess the ability to utilize the skills and knowledge of anyone within a close enough range. The ability allows him to copy both physical skills (such as martial arts forms) or mental (such as knowledge of a foreign language) with equal aptitude. This also lends him a small bit of pre-cognition in a fight.
It should be noted that he is unable to retain skills obtained in this way. Once the person leaves his immediate proximity, David loses the knowledge within a few seconds.

Equipment Name:
The Hud: A yellow/Orange visor with a digital display, allowing for easy access to a variety of data.

Flaws or Weaknesses

Weakness Name:

David only has access to the abilities of others so long as he is close to them. Moving out his immediate vicinity, he only has about ten seconds before the skills start to fade.

Flaw Name:

Severely Introverted - David spent years hiding aspects of himself. The fact that he was Bi. The fact that he was a mutant. He even tried to act ‘less Black’ when he was in school in an attempt to fit in more with others. If there are problems with himself that might cause others to think of him differently, he will almost always hide the problem and not address it. He’d much rather not be the center of attention and avoid confrontation

Lack of a self identity - After hiding significant parts of himself for years, David struggles with understanding who he really is in a vacuum. He tries to fill roles needed in a group, not really knowing who he actually his. There are fears that he isn’t ‘black enough’, that he shouldn’t call himself a mutant because he can pass, that he doesn’t express his sexuality enough. It’s enough to make David question what any of it means, who he is, and if he’ll even be able to connect to cultures he ignored for so long.

This is room for any details you want to add to your character sheet. Character relations can be placed here, or simply anything that didn't fit anywhere else.

@JamesSureWould

I like him.

Only thing I'll say is Magneto doesn't want to commit genocide. He wants to reform government under his own semi-dictatorship and put more mutants into places of leadership as many of them are gifted at it.

But not kill all humans.

Having said that it's entirely believable someone would feel he wants to do that since he is quite often threatening, aggressive and insulting when he speaks about humanity.

I'd say Delta is right. He just doesn't have any real big 'destructive' potential. Like he couldn't really fight 95% of the roster. But he'll be really interesting to see play out. So you can put it as Delta and it's up to you if you have him believe Magneto wants genocide. Which, to be fair, Magneto doesn't want it explicitly but he is certainly willing to commit it if he feels it is necessary.

Cool! So can I put him into the character sheet thread?

(I'll go with him still believing that Magneto would commit genocide if it came to it.)

Yep, put him up. I just wasn't sure if you OOC thought this Magneto outright wanted to execute all humans. Didn't want any confusion. Totally makes sense to believe he's capable of pulling the trigger on genocide. Wouldn't make him happy but he'd do it.

I will finish Gambit's profile up and have it up tomorrow. I would have had it done today but I have a headache that just isn't going away. Also, can I make Gambit bisexual?

Look forward to it but no rush, hope your headache clears up. Of course he can be bisexual! I'm really not concerned about characters sexuality at all.
