That One Dingus

Hi! If you're reading this, you 1) probably know what Steven Universe is and 2) were either not scared away by the tag or are wondering where I get off. Well, if you are willing to spare a few moments of your time, I will be to explain in my elaborate fanfiction in a hypothetical scenario.

As you are probably aware, the Gem War on Earth changed its history and its geography. The show, however, has failed to address one basic question: while rock-people were descending from the sky and waging a War in Heaven on Earth's own soil, what were the humans of that time doing? Hiding in caves and sucking their thumbs, waiting for the whole mess to blow over? That's not very interesting narrative, particularly since Rose Quartz was supposed to be an inspiration to humans as well as Gems. There is also a great deal of prejudice against humans by the Homeworld Gems, so I thought of something that I call the Geode Project (WIP title).

The Geode Project
The Crystal Gems, under the leadership of Rose Quartz and her outcast lieutenants, proved to be an irksome guerrilla force for Homeworld to deal with. Valuable troops were being wasted trying to track these rebels down, resources being squandered. On top of that, there was still the matter of eliminating the human vermin from the world so that Kindergartens could arise without interference. The Diamonds decided to launch a program that would solve several of those problems simultaneously: The Geode Project.

It all started when a pair of Peridots made the discovery that, despite the humans' organic nature, their bodies still possessed materials that could be used to not only feed a Gem's growth, but were able to ingest other material and expend it to restore energy and heal themselves. Such traits were desirable in an army designed to counter Rose Quartz's tactics and so hundreds of humans were captured across the globe to serve as test subjects for the Diamonds' latest horror. In an underground laboratory, these captive humans were implanted with specially designed Gems, the culmination of Peridot technical knowledge and the sheer brilliance of the Diamonds. These new "organic" gems could accelerate their growing and awakening process by taking control of, or cannibalizing, the host's body. Most of the time, the results were a dismal failure as the subjected human either rejected the implant and died, succumbed to poor nutrition and living conditions under the cold eyes of the Peridots, or went mad from the Gem's consciousness trying to take control of their body. In all of the experimental phase, there were only three successful tests.
Obsidian
A warrior plucked from the South American continent, the man no longer remembers his own name. Implanted with a fiery and vicious Geode called Obsidian, long battles were waged in his consciousness for control of his own mind. Eventually, man and Gem came to develop an uneasy truce, recognizing that to continue fighting would mean the death of both. Although the two personalities are now in-sync, they still regard each other as separate beings living in the same body. They possess a heroic stature, skin red like lava with savage spiked armor. As a nod to the man's old life, a resemblance of a jaguar skull with glowing red eyes sits above a broad face with a strong chin. Their weapons of choice are obsidian-edged warclubs of lethal sharpness called macuahuitl, capable of bursting into flame for additional effect. Obsidian is strong and passionate, but still possesses a certain humility from being born among the people of the rainforest. They are are stubborn and quick to anger, making them an excellent guardian but a poor diplomat. While lacking the full shapeshifting capability of a Quartz, Obsidian does possess the power to transform into something resembling a European dragon.
Flint
This poor man from what is now Wales was abducted while hunting for his family. If any of his family line survived the Gem War, they are so far distantly related as to be unrecognizable. The tall and thin hunter received the Flint parasite, which possesses a keen cunning and a predilection for patience and stealth. Control for his mind played out in a series of dark forests and misty hills within his imagination, each seeking to take out the other. Strangely, the Gem began to enjoy the cat-and-mouse game of hunting a professional hunter and deliberately passed on opportunities to eliminate the host's consciousness. Soon, unspoken rules were established in the mutual hunt and an unlikely peace was struck. Now, they appear as a grey-skinned lean man with a goatee shaped like a spearhead, dressed in brown clothing that resembles a hunter's garb. Flint is tight-lipped and serene, letting their actions speak for them and only talking when absolutely necessary. A longbow that ends in jutting blades is their signature weapon; a combination of steady hands, a keen eye, and the ability to combust arrows at will makes for a deadly sniper. As the only other "male" Gem, Flint feels an instinctive kinship with Obsidian and follows their lead. Flint is a follower, not a leader, and can prove indecisive or unfeeling in social interaction. After having unspoken interaction with the Gem in his mind for so long, Flint has forgotten how to casually converse. They often roll their eyes and grow impatient when people are unwilling to see what's right in front of them.
Amber
She was originally a lorekeeper, a caretaker of scrolls, in the region that would become China before being taken. Lacking in physical strength, the Peridots hoped that their Amber prototype would turn her into a more skillful combatant that relied on tactical thinking and expertise. The Amber Gem turned out to be one of the least aggressive of the Gem experiments and the poor woman accepted any company her mind could find in the harshness of her capture. The woman was able to teach the Gem her language and told her counterpart stories of her culture. Knowing that this knowledge would be erased if the base personality was obliterated, the Gem learned to coexist with its host. The two personalities have now merged into one, the sole example of transcendence in the Geode Project. As a result, Amber is the most socially-adjusted out of the three surviving test subjects. Her short, stocky frame (not quite as short or stocky as Amethyst) bears golden skin draped in autumn orange eastern attire. Her choice weapon is a a meteor hammer, a twin set of metal balls attached by a length of chain. A brutish weapon at first glance, a short demonstration is all that is needed to impress the importance of positioning and timing in using a weapon that could easily hurt its owner. Amber loves to both talk and listen, only resorting to combat when backed into a corner. This annoys Obsidian, who frequently butts heads with her, and Flint is a complete mystery to her. Well-educated and intelligent, Amber enjoys creature comforts and appears to think well of herself. In reality, the oppressive solitary environment of captivity has left its own scars. She constantly seeks approval from her peers and suffers crushing bouts of depression as she questions her self-worth.

That's just a short description of the three. If you have any questions about them, feel free to ask in the thread or PM me.

So, you might ask as you point to the elephant in the room, what excuse do these characters have to be introduced into the current plot? Well, as I figure it, the Diamonds would have seen what a colossal waste of resources the project turned out to be (since the Peridots became obsessed with the process rather than obtaining useful results) and pulled the plug on the project when Homeworld forces retreated from Earth. The Peridots, unwilling to abandon all of their hard work, pretended that they didn't hear the retreat signal and instead hunkered down in their hidden lab. For thousands of years, the two Peridots were isolated from both Crystal and Homeworld Gems as they continued the project. They would combine into a larger Peridot that had more brainpower than the two put together in order to draw up new potential experiments. What started out as a tool of convenience became an obsessive dependency and the two Peridots stayed fused for longer periods of time. Eventually, the personalities merged into one being. Of course, the isolation affected her as well and she began slipping into madness. Because of the coincidental positioning of their Gems, the fused Peridot became convinced that she had a Diamond Gem and so began referring to herself, blasphemously, as "Green Diamond".

The facility, submerged underwater in the massive crater where Russia should be on the world map, is discovered by Steven and the Crystal Gems. The gang shows up to shut the mad Peridot down and end up releasing the experiments coincidentally. Despite the Crystal Gems' attempts to communicate, the suffering that the Geodes have endured at the hands of other Gems leaves them defensive and distrusting. They escape, seeking their new place that is unlike the Earth they left behind.

Now, on to the meat of the matter...

I'm looking for someone to play Steven and the Crystal Gems. I'm not trying to rock the boat with this idea; the show's star characters will still be Earth's primary defenders and these new Gems will not become rock stars overnight. I want to play these characters in a world that is affected behind-the-scenes by Homeworld's scouting and efforts to activate the Cluster. Initial encounters will be confrontational with the exception of one-on-one conversations with Steven, who the Geodes regard as just another human being. In a strange bit of mythology, ancient humans believed that Rose Quartz was simply a giant human woman that fought for their freedom against Gem oppressors. They vehemently deny any attempts to correct that worldview and I look forward to RPing the moment that the notion becomes as shattered as Pink Diamond. Erotic scenes are a plus but not required; I care more about playing the characters than imaginary rock-person banging. That said, the fact that the implanted Gems are "female" in a male host does leave open possibilities...

There's more, but I don't want this into a wall of text that rivals the one built to keep out the Mongols. If any of this sounds interesting, or you want to know what the hell I was smoking, feel free to drop a PM.
