Thanks for the question Avalon,

I'm a little bit confused by your question, since Fervus(Nature) relates to Adaptation, not Raw power. That's Agrilao(Fire). I'm going to assume that you just got the names confused there?

Upon reading your idea, the first thing I have to admit is that it reminded me immediately of Tohsaka Rin from Type-Moon (FATE). But that aside;

Since enchanting jewellery sort of fits in with the Kitsune theme of “Hoshi no Tama,” I'm willing to make an exemption and say that Haru can have jewels which he's imbued with magic. There are a few limitations on this though;

First and foremost, he will only have access to Tier 1 Magic at the start. In other words he can't already have a jewel that he's charged up to full capacity prior to the Bloom Collar.
Secondly, it will not be possible to be create a super jewel; where Haru charges a jewel up each day, and unleashes a Tier 5 spell after a month of charging it up.
Finally you will have to specify whether he has a single jewel he uses, that is special to him. Or if there are multiple jewels, which shatter after it's unleashed the magical energy. Somewhere during the roleplay, you'll also need to clarify where they're getting the jewels from (I'm okay with them having a stock of uncharged jewels at the start).

Overall I'm okay with Shiki having props, as long as it doesn't undermine the power limitations that have been put in place. Using other characters for example, I'm okay with things like Tsurugikabe's sword being somewhat sentient and seeking blood, or Aello's feathers serving a specific purpose (“Take this feather and call out to me, and I'll hear you”)

JoanieSappho

I don't know if it's the gold/silver colour schemes and the whole wing thing, or what, but something is making me wonder if Aello and Anael had previous knowledge of each other. Perhaps having on/off again stuff, with Aello being her usual ultra high maintenance self.
Or, we could try starting such a thing ingame, I dunno.

As for the anime talk, y'all are kids. Or Zaer.
31, and the only anime on TV here growing up were the big obvious ones. Sailor Moon, Cardcaptor Sakura, Pokemon and a bit of Dragonball. I tend to go for the lighter, fluffier anime these days, personally.  As for fanbases, eh, I've been told I like the moeblob shit enough times that I don't deal much with them.
And it's not all moeblob! I loved the economics ones like Maoyuu Yuusha and Spice and Wolf. Also Monster Musume, purely for the world-building and also titties.

@Melody
Fair enough. Honestly I caught Naruto first in the manga form when they first started releasing Shonen Jump in America, and by the time the anime came out I was invested enough to stick it out despite how choppily it begins. Granted I stuck through Bleach all the way up to the start of the Nazi ark, and I watch harem comedy shows on the regular, so my ability to watch through bullshit is pretty high.

@Zaer
I'm not gonna lie, I would have loved it if you had said your favorite anime was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles  :P

I was a bit confused as to what you were referring to... but if you're referring to the passage below, I actually stated that it would be okay for demons to be fighting side by side with their human caster. I just stated that they'd be unlikely to throw themselves out as a meatshield prior to a proper friendship of sorts being developed.

Quick Question; Is a Shiki in the way of a Pokemon, as, they battle for the user, or is it more like they are only a tool to empower the user?
Hey Broken :)
Thanks for the question; since it's probably a question that needed a bit more clarification that what was provided.
The short answer is; Both... or whichever people decide to opt for.

A Shiki is essentially a 'tool to empower the user.'
Developing a bond with a Shiki allows a human caster to draw on the demons elemental affinity.

But at the same time, they're also able to act autonomously so they could serve in a fashion similar to pokemon.
That said though, most Shiki probably won't want to be fighting considering how their strength has been severely restricted... and I'd be a bit concerned if a Shiki is 100% trusting of the Academy, much less some fragile looking human.

Additionally on the topic of a fandom ruining things for people, it's a psychological thing.
I personally didn't mind SAO or Naruto at the start as I found both to be pretty mediocre, but there's only so many hours of listening to “OH MY GOD Naruto is like the best anime ever!!! *SQUEEEE*” before you start analyzing details you wouldn't normally care about, and labelling it rubbish.

It's like a penis. I'm fine with people having one, but when you start trying to shove it down my throat as something amazing. My first reflex is to gag, my second to chew it off, and the third to spit it back in their face....
… Wow, no idea where that came from xD

Avalon29

Woops, yeah name confusion. For some reason I was associating Fervus with fire. Probably the f. xD

Thank you for the approval of the idea and all the restrictions work for me. Tohsaka is a good example of what I had in mind. I have no super jewels planned or anything of the sort. I was going to keep things restricted by the petal system and the strength of said jewels being restricted by the number of petals he has. No going around the system for me. I don't like going around and try to break or get around systems.

As for the anime stuff I watch all kinds really. I can certainly get fanbases being annoying enough to make you want to watch or ignore a show if you run into it often enough. I found SAO to be average. The only arc I thought was actually good was the Rosario arc at the end when Kirito was almost entirely pushed out of the picture. Old stuff is great too as well as new stuff. Last two anime I watched all the way through recently was a rewatch Ronin Warriors/Samurai Troopers and Robotic;Notes in between with my keeping up with the current season.

*Zips up his jeans again*
I mean! I totally agree!

@Peedragon
I can also understand sticking through something if you have been a part of it from the very start xD I mean, I might not like the anime's I listed earlier, but I started on Supernatural when it was just first aired, and been stuck with it since. Suppose what helped me there, was I didn't have friends who were into the show, so it was just my thing for a while. And wait? There were Nazi's in Bleach? I managed to watch it till the emotional vampire ark and then just went "Nope, can't do this anymore" xD

@Joanie
Well, we can definitely discuss some sort of a connection if you'd like. Could be pretty interesting xD As you said, Aello being her high acquaintance self, while Anael still clinging to the fact that his creator might come back. Sounds like a scattered brained on off relationship, doomed from the start xD

pdragon

@Melody
Yeah, you know the Quincies? the dudes with bows who all died out before the start of the show? Well it turns out they didn't die out, and when they pop back up they're freakin' nazis who commit a holocaust against all the hollows and then blitzkreig soul society. It was actually pretty awesome in how absurd it is. They're even called the Vandenreich, and just like how the hollows all use gratuitous Spanish for their attack names and stuff everything they do is German based.
What a thrill...with silence and darkness through the night....

Well, it was long time my favorite but now it's merely dearest anime and has nostalgia value :). Now my 'favorite' spot shifts but there are some which I count as must to watch (Hellsing Ultimate Abridged, Steins Gate, Deathnote, Black Bible example).

Anyways sadly Gaia has been scrapped; as I PM discussed potential powers he could give or have in with the GM it was noted as 'god of destruction' he does not fit the magic system. So I will be developing a human characther (as we got plenty shiki already).

Now on question on human students; after 18th birthday they start see supernatural. Besides seeing can humans tap into own powers without shiki? You mention mediums so does it include psychic or other pure spiritual power? Also can it be possible (through circumstances) able learn see supernatural entities before 18th birthday or date? Or manifest much later?

Also is there chance a medium/psychic (speaking a past 30) one able 'block' other psychic humans from sensing what happens in area (including awakening of another psychic)? I speak mostly a psychic mother blocking area so her child awakening is not sensed by government psychics.

@Pdragon
Oh wow xD I'm glad I dodged that bullet in terms of watching xD Does sound oddly amusing as well xD

@Zaer
It doesn't sound like you read the introduction post properly through, that explained the game mechanics and rules pretty well.
1st) Human's don't have any supernatural powers, other then that they can now see what is going on.
2nd) It was also stated that the roleplay is 18+ and therefor the humans only become 'aware'  after 18.

I think it's not a good idea to make a human version of your rejected character and it isn't going to go down well with the GM.

I'm also guessing, since the humans don't have any supernatural powers, that their parents won't have them ether.

If you are going to write up a sheet for a human character, I suggest you re-read the introduction post and refresh your memory a bit, and keep in mind what Leki is wanting from the characters.
The humans, essentially, can channel a Shiki's powers if bonded and without a Shiki they have no power. Much like a Shiki, can not use their power, unless bonded with a human. It's pretty much a give and take relationship that is being formed; a partnership.

Zaer Darkwail

Well, my char concept is based on someone who was raised in environment which was 'haunted' by shiki/demon. Who leeched slowly life from people, manipulated them and in end made people do horrible things under it's influence (doing it as form of amusement). MC and MC's mother both 'sensed' (but note; did not see) the entity responsible so they both used self-made rituals and prayers to protect themselves and their family.

However it was not enough and eventually all of the family died one by one around MC until one night house went on fire and mother died along the fire. Then as homeless orphan he wandered but was still haunted by the shiki/demon who wanted 'finish' the collection/event off. As sort of twisted game what it played on young man's life. MC sensed it, tried drive it off and moved hoping get entity loose track of him but entity always returned to torment MC.

Then at 18 age MC was able see the entity.....and this point I wondered for potential untapped psychic/medium abilities which would allow 'drive off' the shiki/demon or we could rule shiki/demon got scared for MC able see it and somehow speak directly to it and so cowardly shiki/demon left once MC's sight activated. Overall story being of young man who's life was ruined by shiki/demon in slow manner and also emotional traumas from people around him becoming influenced by 'darkness' in his family life.

Leki

Yeah, while it should have been obvious to me from the get-go, the concept of a god-of-destruction simply doesn't work due to it's overpowered nature. Hence, any applications henceforth relating to godly powers will be rejected. Timanka however is fine; as she's not actually god, and even if she was she seems to be a pretty low tier one.

In regards to the creation of a human character;
The ability to discern demons manifests at the age of 18. For the sake of consistency there will be no exceptions to this rule.
Things like fortune-telling, scrying, clairvoyance, etc would exist in the world, but practitioners will be seen as entertainers and con-artists.
Developing a different form of ESP will prevent the ability to channel Shiki's, hence the concept of being a special snowflake of both persuasions doesn't work.
Spiritual Mediums who are able to fight low-tier demons would need to be extensively trained, and will not be awakening one day to find they're demon vanquishing superheroes.

Regarding your character concept;
Your character would not be able to sense anything since demons are not only invisible, but also impossible to detect through other senses.
A demon who is able to haunt various family members would be at least a tier 2, and would not really be affected by homemade remedies.
As stated previously your character can not suddenly fend off demons.
A demon who is massacring families isn't likely to run off, just because it's been seen. Hell, a demon who's been seen would do the opposite and make sure YC died. Hence the reason the academy forcefully enrols students.

If these issues are addressed I'd be willing to consider a human character from you, however I would expect a character who's been haunted his whole life, lost his entire family, and lived on the streets to be reflected in their personality.

If there is any anime where I felt the fanbase ruined my experience, it would be Gundam Wing. I feel that series was overhyped by fans (and probably still is). It was a nice series, but it didn't really stand out to me as compared to other Gundam series.

For Naruto, I liked how they built up the characters. If you wanted to avoid fillers, manga would let you skip those extra episodes that didn't have much impact on the story. I could understand why some people are put off by the protagonist's personality, but understanding his circumstances would make you feel for what he's been through and respect how much he grew as the series progressed.

Bleach... was nice in the beginning. It started feeling forced later on, with several elements in the plot left unexplained or forced in for the sake of convenience. It had a lot of potential that wasn't really put to good use, and could have been a better series if the author put more love into it.

If you want a supernatural series by Shonen Jump, I could suggest Jigoku Sensei Nube (for old series) or Nurarihyon no Mago (new series). The latter was nice, but was forced to finish quickly by the end of the series. If you want something short, Assassination Classroom is a fun series to follow. It is more lighthearted than the name implies, as an advance warning.

Mahou Sensei Negima... was supposed to be harem manga that suddenly turned action midway. It was a fun series despite some moments that felt a bit dragging, and even if the manga ending was a bit disappointing (this is just my opinion).

I also followed some Precure series. Fun meta-series supposedly targeted for young girls, but the action scenes will make you wonder if they really were aiming for just young girls as an audience.

Leki:

Ok, so how sounds scenario that shiki/demon sticked with MC after house burned down and the academy agents who were tracking it found it but also found MC before his sight opened up? He had gone long while off the radar grid in regards his sight awakening (and perhaps shiki/demon influence near him 'cloaked' the matter). Plus I imagine they would have harder time mail stuff for a homeless boy and so think he was not given mail but directly snatched off to the academy (which creates at least scenario where he felt kidnapped until sight opened up).

Leki

@Zaer
That wouldn't work.
The entire premise of this roleplay is that demons are the ones who are responsible for accidents, disaster and crime. If a demon was slowly killing off an entire family, people would have been alerted to it a lot faster. And the character would have been sought out the moment the house burned down. Furthermore your character wouldn't have been able to survive so long being homeless if a demon was out to kill them. At the start of the roleplay, your character is nothing more than an average person with the ability to see demons. It's not possible to escape something you can't sense.

I'm going to be brutally blunt and state that I don't think you'd be capable of adequately playing the type of character you are describing to me. I know that people often strive to be creative and original, but this just isn't working.

@Steir
Oh dear lord, Gundam Wing xD
I personally liked the mecha, and pilots... but the overall story was just so convoluted in a not so appealing way. The fact that it alternated between complex and simple plot mechanics just made things weirdly confusing. Furthermore, that anime was completely ruined for me once the fangirls kicked in, and started pairing all the characters up in lewd relationships. >_>
I'm pretty sure the main reason behind Gundam Wing's popularity is that it came out during the 'anime importation years' when the western audience was realizing anime wasn't just Dragonball, Sailormoon, and other superhero creations.

After seeing Negima, Nube, and Assassination Classroom...
I feel like I need to suggest Great Teacher Onizuka as well since it follow a similar theme.
The anime for Nube wasn't as good, but I still liked the weirdly simplistic opening xD

Precure was directed at young girls, but I also think the creators were marketing to the grown male otaku culture of Japan.

Idlewyld

Well, since we're doing this debate, for my money, there was no greater anime than Ranma 1/2. I can watch most of the episodes over and over again.

The problem with a lot of the Shonen Jump Anime (which includes Naruto and Bleach, along with a lot of the other super popular series) is that they just went for so long. And after super undefeatable evil baddie #1 went down, the writers had to figure out an enemy that would be even more daunting and so you quickly moved into overkill territory (not to mention said enemy's defeat would require developments of new attacks which required just the exact set of circumstances that just happened to be going on at just that point in the battle.)

SweetSerenade

Mobile, so excuse the shortness.

My all time favorite anime is a tie between Kaleido Star, Princess Tutu, Petshop of Horrors, and Getbackers. Lol. Also heading into business class soon!

Leki:

Hmmm, ok. If you think I cannot roleplay the char then need ponder another concept. Overall when seeing other humans I want avoid following elements to be 'original';

1) Have no close family (friends maybe whom they miss)
2) Not come from rich/influential/higher class background (perhaps low middle or poor/homeless origin)
3) Someone who may not had been willing come to institute initially (even if they got letter), may had needed convince them afterwards it was good deal for them (simply distrust for authority)
4) If number 3 not ideal then at least someone who is not thrilled to bond with shiki (even if told to do so), at best view shiki not as people but tools for grander goal (if no antagonist feelings)

Which things above your okay with influence/be in the background or which stuff are outright 'not okay' at all in any characther? As note in cases of number 3 and 4 are not meant as permament things but settings where char starts at (and evolve through RP).

pdragon

@Idlewyld
I think a series that does a great job of avoiding that power creep problem is JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. Instead of constantly throwing stronger and stronger big bads at you each new part, they instead focus on introducing different kinds of bad guys, people that still pose a daunting challenge to the protagonists, but not just by having a higher power level than the last boss. Heck in one case the main villain of a season was actually significantly weaker than the boss of the previous part, but just due to circumstances and the way he uses his powers he still posed a significant threat. It also helps that they switch protagonists each part, which allows them to more or less reset everyone's power down to a manageable level.

Personally I think a lot of series would benefit from a more generational approach like what JoJo does. It allows you introduce new characters, new scenarios, and new villains without having to stretch out one character's story for thousands of chapters. You can actually give stories a satisfying ending and then still keep the series as a whole running. I felt like they were gonna go for something like that with Naruto when they started making Boruto stuff. Though I feel they kinda waited too long to make it really work.

A lot of the slowness, and problems that came up with the Naruto Manga - and it's continuation, was because of the publisher that Kishimoto was working through. The publisher continuously put down his ideas for the story, he actually wanted to have Naruto and Hinata's love story happen sooner - but his publisher put a huge Veto on that and a lot of his inspirational timing/production issues was based on the continuous gagging of his publisher. xD

I have to say though, some of the next Gen characters are freaking hilarious.

I can safely say that I don't have a favorite anime and it really depends on the wind blows on how I feel.

Favorite long running shounen I can say is Gin Tama but favorite series overall is a lot harder for me since I've seen plenty of really good ones. Then again my criteria for liking an anime is simply, does it have an interesting setting, plot, or characters and am I having fun watching it so I'm probably not the harshest judge of things.

Steir

Quote from: OnizukaGod couldn't come. I'm his substitute.
I love the hilarity that GTO possessed. It has the right elements of comedy, drama, and badass in it.

May I recommend Gintama, considering you enjoyed GTO?

I think among Shonen Jump series aside from JJBA, One Piece also handled power creep nicely. Luffy and the rest of the Strawhats can be said as strong, but they are still human and have to fight not just with power, but also with wit and grit.

The buildup for each arc in One Piece tends to be slow, but things start to get interesting when pieces (no pun intended here) started coming together.

If you want a fun Gundam series, I would recommend Gundam Build Fighters (and its second season, Gundam Build Fighters Try). You could say it got ideas from Angelic Layer, but is a lighthearted series compared to most Gundam series.

Leki

Haha, there's no need to recommend Gintama to me, since I'm already an avid fan of the series. <3
It's good to see some of us have good taste *nods* .... Just kidding~
I actually had a lash of nostalgia not too long ago, and found myself wondering whatever happened to Hata Ouji (Prince Hata?)
My issue with long running anime's is that I usually tire of the characters, and once things go stale... I lose interest. Gintama's probably the sole exception to my no anime's that go beyond 100 episodes rule xD

Not too fond of the gundam series as a whole, and didn't enjoy the Build Fighters thing either.
I think the last one I saw was Gundam00, and that wasn't too bad.
I've got a younger brother who absolutely loves the Seed series.
I'm more of aligned towards things like Valvrave and CodeGeass when it comes to mecha.
