A long time ago in a galaxy far,
far away...

   STAR
  WARS

THE RISE OF KYUSS

It is an uncertain time for the New Republic.
Galactic war continues to rage against the
Imperial Remnant and now a number of
students of the JEDI PRAXEUM on Yavin 4
have begun to suffer visions of a powerful
entity awakening upon the Galactic Rim, a
threat known only as KYUSS.

With the help of JEDI MASTERS KYLE
KATARN and KASSEY LEHANE these
young padawans will travel to the
TEE'ESSAR SYSTEM to learn the truth
behind this monster and protect the
galaxy from its resurgence.

Content
This is a mature campaign, using the Star Wars Saga Edition roleplaying game, it is open to all persuasions and may feature graphic violence, drug use, sexual themes, etc.  All official Saga Edition rulebooks, supplements and web enhancements are open to use with the restriction of races discovered, and technology created, after the Rebellion Era.

In addition to the above, Armour and cover-based Reflex bonuses now provide 'Situational DR' which stacks with other sources of DR and provides SDR equal to the former Reflex defence bonus.  Armoured Defence and Armour Mastery (Imperial Knight) now instead doubles the SDR bonus from armour; and the Improved Armoured Defence talent is no longer available.

Also droid characters may fulfil any Constitution requirements of feats and talents with a Strength score +2 steps higher.

Posting Requirements
There will be a minimum requirement of 1 post per week and this may increase during high action scenes. Characters who haven't acted within this timeframe will have their actions automated by the GM, inline with similar actions/background of the character from the past.

I appreciate that real life can have a huge impact of people's availability, including my own, so players should not worry about any LOA's, be they their's or mine, in relation to the long term running of this game.

With that said, I admittedly suffer from serious health problems and the resulting delays have greatly effected my games in the past. I am devoted to making my campaigns successful, but I feel that all applicants should be aware of my state of health, before applying.

Also feel free to reply with any questions or suggestions :)

Cheers

Excellent......

I may do some minor tweaking to my character. I'll PM you the details.

I think I may make a new character this time around.

EDIT: Also, some of my ideas seem to be heading a certain way.
Are characters allowed to go dark side?

Marie Reynolds

Good morning.

I am tentatively interested but I have  a few concerns.  Why must everyone have the Jedi character class?    I do not think it fits the nature of the Praxeum at this time.  Many of the new students came from various walks of life first and even those from other traditions took to other classes to survive their environments. I see you have give talents from other, non-prestige, classes but that does little to help the skill diversity that students of the order would posses during this time. Also if you have the force sensitive feat the common jedi talents can be taken instead of a class talent.

I also hope this is not taken as disrespectful.  It is not intended as such.  I just wanted to see what your thoughts on this would be.

Muse

If I may be so bold, Rowan, I agree with M.R.

The best way to represent the New Jedi Order feel with the Saga ssystem is probably to run a level 2 or 3 game.  Some characters--frequently the older ones, woudl be force sensitives with 1-2 levels of antoher class, then become Jedi.  Others would be at the accemy from an early age and have nthign but jedi levels.  Still others would be exchange studetns from diferen tradions who mgiht not ever even pcik up a light saber.

Have you considered doing this as a level one game, open to all base classes, whith everyone recieving Force Senstive as a bonus feat?

I am currently playing a table top game using that exact premise.

I'm good either way.

LSWSjr

I don't want to make a lot of changes from what I had there originally, because most of it is tied to issues that came up with converting the 1-20 campaign we'll be playing through, regardless I've made two additions to the OP:
+Jedi characters can now choose to be trained in any Skill at 1st level, not just the Jedi Class Skills; and
+Droid characters are now available

Oh course and don't worry about losing control of your character if they fall completely, this is important because a character's light/dark score will affect how elements of the campaign respond to them :)

Muse

Rowan, do you still have the link to the old character's thread?

I may have to change or at least tweak.  It's really hard to make characters stand out when they all have the same charaacter class, the point buy is so low that they'll all have the same stats, and the skill pool is so low that thye'll all have the same skills.

But I gather you've ballanced this for a certain power level, and I'm always happy to get to be a player.  :)

I've never understood the "not enough Pts" complaint, even when using the original allowance of 25 Pts (or 21 Pts for droids), it only takes 12 Pts to get everything to 10 (ignoring species modifiers), not to mention that Saga Edition gives players double the attribute increases over most d20 systems.

Saga Edition is also not as stat intensive as 3.5/Pathfinder where casters need 19 for their primary stat and lots of higher tier stuff pushes requirements way over 20... but here the highest requirement is 17 (for two feats) which is again much easier to achieve due to the aforementioned doubled attribute gains.

The MAD that Jedi suffer does effect the minmaxing variety of characters, but you still have the divide between: Str fighters vs Dex fighters; Dex defenders vs Cha blocker/deflecter folks; the casters; the diplomats; and so on.

Plus you can now play all those other classes as a droid too :)

it's really more remembeirng that my last concept was envisioned for higher stats than he wound up having to work with.

Captain Whitebread

Name: Cinjin Race

Gender: Male
Race: Miraluka
Class: Jedi
Languages: Basic, Ithorian, Miralukese

Description: Cinjin is just above average height for a Miraluka, coming in at 1.85 meters.  He's got a wiry build.   Knowing that most sighted races are put off by his lack of eyes, he usually keeps his hood pulled forward to put the upper half of his face in shadow.  He favours darker colours, blacks and greys with the occasional splash of purple, despite the fact that he can't see colours.

Bio: Cinjin was born on Ithor, homeworld of the Ithorians to a pair of Miraluka merchants.  He grew to love the peaceful place, gaining a fascination for the plants and animals that grew there.  His degree of Force sensitivity was considerably higher than that of his parents; they lived in fear that he would be discovered by the Empire.  With the death of the Emperor, they breathed a sigh of relief.  When their gentle son chose to train under the new Jedi order, they feared for him but gave him their blessing before he left.

He needed the blessing.  His early training was plagued with disaster, as if the galaxy was trying to prevent him from succeeding.  He was the only uninjured student in a group that crash landed on a remote world during a training mission.  With their instructor dead and few resources, Cinjin was forced to watch his friends perish one by one.  Unable to save them, unable to repair the ship or even send a message, he was forced to fend for himself.  When the missing Padawan was finally located, he was barely alive.  It took a month for him to recover physically.  Whether eh ever fully recovered mentally or spiritually is as yet unknown.  Certainly he was  even quieter than before.

It was at this point that he began questioning why Jedi, as peacekeepers, were known more for their lightsabers than for their ability to heal others.  He focused much of his studies on learning to use the Force to help, rather than harm and has begun researching the life of Fay a powerful Jedi who was thought to not even carry a lightsaber, such was her dedication to peace.  The existence of the Ankarres Sapphire has also caught his attention and he would search for the crystal or one like it, if given half a chance.

#18
KALDON SALBEK
Gender: Male; Age: 18; Height: 1.8 m
Race: Near-Human (traded Bonus Trained Skill for Visually Striking)
Class: Jedi 1
Background: Scarred; Destiny: Education
Languages: Arkanian, Basic, Ryl

Physical: Standing at 1.8 meters tall, Kaldon has a wiry frame that hints at his ability to react quickly and move fluidly.  With startling sapphire-blue eyes, his face is framed by a thick mop of platinum locks that is almost metallic in its glossiness; the rest of his hair is confined by a loose braid – Kaldon tends to leave the hair on the front loose to hide the twin pairs of vestigial horns that protrude just above his temples.  A sharp scar cuts vertically across his left eye, a final 'gift' from Marael Adasca (see Background) before releasing him to the Jedi so that he would always remember her.

Background: Many of the cooperate heads of Arkanian conglomerates desire to profit from the advanced research projects they often undertake, rewarded by prestige and recognition; which often comes with an attached price of the fear of assassins and protesters who object to their utter lack of ethics.  One such person was Marael Adasca.  After one particularly close call on her life, Marael was determined to have a bodyguard so competent that she need never worry about the matter again.  With typical Arkanian haughtiness, she elected to create one when none that suited her standards could be found; the template she chose was a Jedi Knight named Rann Sol, who had impressed her on previous occasions.

After some effort, her subordinates were able to obtain gene samples from Rann without his knowledge.  As is the want of the Arkanian philosophy of genetic engineering, numerous other genetic samples was spliced into this base.  Out of the forty seven produced subjects, three met Marael's standards, of which one was Kaldon – Rann's DNA with additions of Arkanian and Zabrak genes.  Kaldon grew in isolation on training regimen that was meant to make him an ideal bodyguard, perfect manservant, and exotic distraction to trail at Marael's side at all times.  Word got out, however, of her indiscretions and Rann Sol turned up at Marael's doorstep with a contingent of Jedi.  Rather than risk confrontation, she surrendered the young boy to the Rann, naming him Salbek after the scientist who had provided the Arkanian side of the DNA for Kaldon (and who Marael had learned was the one who leaked the information to the Jedi) chiefly to shame the researcher by association.

Born with Rann's potential, it didn't take Kaldon long to demonstrate capability in the Force and was raised to become a Jedi.  To prevent bonding, Kaldon's training was handled by another Jedi.

Personality: Kaldon has a smooth, well-practiced diplomat's approach to any given situation and his almost waifish appearance tends to promote the image that this young man favours words rather than action.  This is almost always at odds with the feral intensity of his volcanic blue eyes, as Keldon tends to be on the watch for hints of a fight.  A fairly easygoing individual, Kaldon tends to be loyal to friends and diplomatic to enemies (even more so than his friends, whom he believes deserves honesty).  When diplomacy exhausts itself, Kaldon seems almost happy to dispense with words in favour of action.

The long years of Arkanian influence means that Kaldon tends to take an intellectual approach to matters, which includes the Force – a dangerous matter, given that he makes almost no distinctions between the light and dark side of the Force - to him, these are simply shades of the same thing.  For now he is happy to focus on Jedi teachings, as it increases his knowledge of the Force, and avoid the dark side as he deems it something dangerous to deal with without proper experience.

<Still need to sort out equipment.>

I live... Sorta. I don't remember at all where or what I was doing with Josest though. So questions.

1) Ubese race (pg 12 scum and villainy) remind me very much of tali'zorah from Mass effect. So if a back story can be put together, probably involving "infiltrating" this new jedi order to... find info or something like, can they be used?

2) Given that Tali's the inspiration any problems with me cobbling a female character together?

Yes to both questions, which reminds me that I did a semi-TC of Mass Effect for SWSE, would anyone be interested in me running that?

Mass Effect is always fun and a game like that would do wonders to tide over till the next ME game comes out. :)
