Priceless clip from CNN a few weeks back, where a Trump supporter has the studio anchor and a black guy (who was also invited to the discussion) dumbstruck with her very peculiar defence methods. At one point, she is claiming that Trump could be a tool in the designs of God to set things right in America.  :D Watch the eyerolling of the black man!

To be fair. If Trump does turn out to be the God Emperor, at least we have solved the age old question why all space marines are male.

Ugh, I'm sure there are decent-reasons that people voted for Trump, even if I disagree with all of them. I've even talked to a few Trump voters who hated him, and thought he was disgusting, but just decided that they were less-okay with Hillary and whatever. Honestly, from the video, it sounds like this woman is in exactly that camp-- she doesn't really try to defend his actions,--

It's not those people that really gobsmack me, though.

I get how someone can be on an interview and say some stuff that sounds stupid, because unless you spend a lot of time thinking through your beliefs, it can be easy to get caught in a position where you're trying to defend something that you really know can't be defended. n' you don't just wanna, you know,-- admit that Trump is a despicable man, and you find him truly horrible,-- it feels like admitting defeat. It feels like saying you're wrong, especially to someone as values and morals based as this woman appears to be.

The people that really shock me, and whom I can't understand, those are the people genuinely think Trump is the greatest thing since sliced bread and that all of this anti-trump propaganda is just part of the establishment trying to take him down. The ones who are genuinely and wholly on his side, not just the ones who agree with his positions and feel that he represents what they want better than Clinton, but he ones that are genuinely enthusiastic and devoted to... Him.

...though, writing this, even that sort of makes a little sense.

Since, like I said, once you've made a decision,-- you'll just naturally start to whitewash areas of your own thought that disagree with said decision,-- that's just human nature.

The thing I am most worried about is Trump's dislike of NATO. Which, given how buddy buddy he seems to be with Putin, makes a lot of sense now.

Without US Support, NATO would suffer a heavy blow, allowing Russia to pull several more Crimea's, and rebuild the Soviet Union in modern day.

......wow ....now I know how conspiracy theorists feel.....:( Damn you trump for making me into what I hate!  :'(

I'm really trying to find some kind of witty response to that video, but fuck, I'm about as speechless as they were.

That is painfully stupid.

"God could use anyone." Great, so... why not elect Hillary, then? Or, hell, elect a chihuahua. It'd be just as effective as Trump, but significantly more adorable.

On a much more petty note: Is it just me or does she look like a Slitheen in a wig?

My parents (sadly) are trump supporters, even though my father didn't vote. But their reasons for doing so can eb described in three words.

Mom: Fuck The Government.

Dad: Fuck The Government.

Which says a lot since both of them were Government workers for most of their lives....actually no that's probably why X3

Itsn like Michael moore said, Trump is a Molotov, and a lot of people wanted to throw it as the biggest "Fuck You" in history to the government  :P

I think that's the least of our worries actually. I'm worried about 3 principle things:

1) That he'll actually try to build the wall, and thereby bankrupt the economy.

2) His gutting of the EPA and funding for climate change mitigation (which essentially means that we are certain to return the planet back to the Mesozoic era).

And above all

3) War with China, and possibly also Mexico while we are at it. If it goes nuclear, I predict it would flare up in the Korean Peninsula.

The more I think about it, the more it sinks in just how badly our political system has blundered...

1, and 3, strike me as-- well, not that different from the same shit that I heard 8-years ago from the Republicans, talking about all the horrible ways that Obama would fuck up the country.

2, though, could potentially be a legitimate worry.

Well, the gutting of the EPA bit at least, not necessary the rest of it.

The big thing with #3 is that there's a greatly increased chance of it happening now.  He might deliberately start such a war to make himself look like a true alpha male, or he also might accidentally start such a war... while he's busy trying to make himself look like a true alpha male.  :P

QuoteRepublican president-elect Donald Trump has picked a member of an officially-designated religious right “hate group” to run domestic policy for his presidential transition.

Ken Blackwell, the former secretary of state of Ohio, and current senior fellow at the officially-designated anti-LGBT “hate group” Family Research Council, will be in charge of coming up with Trump’s “First 100 Days” of domestic policy.

1) is moderately likely. 2) is the most likely. 3) I find highly unlikely, if only because China is smarter than Trump - they have just as much to lose as we do from a nuclear exchange, and even Trump isn't the degree of outright balls-out insane necessary to try and order unprovoked nuclear launches against another country. It's if he decides to use nuclear weapons against ISIS, giving Russia and China the precedent they need to deploy their own nuclear arsenals against non-nuclear opponents like Ukraine/Taiwan respectively, that is the danger.

Maybe he'll do something really stupid (er....well worse than he's already done) and get impeached?

At this point, I'm just praying that we can all survive the next 4 years.

I actually hope Trump isn't impeached, much as I don't like him. His VP is Pence...and Pence himself scares the hell out of me. He scares me more than Trump.  :-\

Funny you should say that :P

The gfuy who predicted trump would win, also predicts his impeachment.

That's really interesting.

Someone should also search old The Simson's episodes.  They are also creepily able to predict future events, including Trump getting elected.

The Simpsons has aired 602 episodes over 28 seasons. They've predicted pretty much everything by now, so it's sort of shooting fish in a barrel to look back and retroactively find the episode that predicted 'X'.

You know, with all the American's investigating moving to Canada, I, as an Australian, can put forth numerous reasons for choosing my homeland over Canada. But rather than bore you all to tears with the lengthy list, I'll just leave you with the last entry on it.

* If you go to Canada rather than Australia, you'll still hear the crying, wailing and lamenting of all the trapped souls to the south, rather than the wonderful lack of such tormented sounds that comes from living on the other side of the planet.

Love Australia. Lot more expensive to gwt to, though, and harder to stay AFAIK.

I actually joked to a friend that Pence is Trump's anti-assassination plan.

People won't kill Trump for fear of Pence taking his place.

Hello all. I have not posted in here before. This whole election thing has been getting worse every time it comes up. I have been around a few years and I have seen the country reel from some pretty dumb things. But we recovered and even though things look bleak, we have to remember the pendulum swings.

We need to study history and learn the lessons of the past, lest we repeat the mistakes.

We need to look at what past generations went through.

I offer this song. It seems to fit.

One of the great songs of Rock and Roll!!

People need to get a grip and realize that Trump is not going to be the end of the world. He just may delay the progressive agenda for many years, especially if he appoints more than one Justice.

Hillary Clinton is responsible for her own demise, along with the Democratic Party who supported that flawed candidate over Bernie Sanders. "It's her turn" just does not play well with the American people.

People are angry, angry enough to throw the brick that is Donald Trump through the plate glass window of government. Sometimes you have to tear something down to build it better. Maybe in 2020 we will get a candidate who can do that.

In the end, all we have left are memories.

The thing is that for a great number of people, including a fair percentage of the people on these forums, 'the progressive agenda' includes things like 'human rights and legal protection'. For them, having that delayed means a lot, and that assumes it merely holds steady instead of outright backsliding.
