Too late, I've already named it. I hope Bobbin's ok...he gets cold easily and shivers from tail to twitchy pink nose :-(

(This is entirely in jest. Mostly.)

I thought originally you meant 'rat' as in the mobster term for a snitch.

I think the hashtag gave away that he meant a rodent... Although, that said, that's not a bad idea, Lusty.

I'm thinking of maybe an air marshal who is on his last trip as such.  Maybe he messed up and is getting fired or he even failed at his last air job and people got killed.  All in all he'll have a sour attitude with the feeling of "What else can go wrong" then boom, airplane goes down, haha.

Amy: You threw the manual in a supernova? Why?
The Doctor: Because I disagreed with it! Now stop talking to me when I'm cross!”

Sure thing, buddy. At this point I'll take pretty much anyone who isn't on my personal "NO" list!

*snigger* Nah, you're always welcome!

Benvolio

I'd be interested to join in this game too. I have a character idea already.

Fingers crossed there's at least one other nonhet guy

Benvolio

Approved  :-)

Name: Matthew Steele

Player ID: Benvolio

Job: Student (also tutors piano)

Height: 168 cm
Weight: 63 kg

Distinguishing marks: Has a single tattoo on their upper left thigh, of three overlapping taut chain rings looping the whole way around their leg.

Age: 24
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Homosexual

Weaknesses: Can't swim, Terrible at engineering (so constructing shelter or traps), Bad sense of direction.

Likes: Caffeine, bad video games and being the first follower.
Dislikes: Waking up early, tasks that require extreme patience, ants.

Personality: They have confidence in a direction in their life (to code for Menoetian), even though they have no idea how they are going to get there. Generally they show pessimism towards specifics and optimism to more general ideas. They can be lazy and unmotivated but when they work they commit themselves and try to act with what control they have. They can be creative and have clever ideas, and have some artistic talent. As a result of childhood neglect, they were forced to care for themselves, and as a result of a social disconnect they became quite lonely. First, music was like a companion to them, providing them an easily accessible feeling of interaction. Now, they have become highly skilled and use piano tutoring as their main source of income. However, their social development was stunted and they still view interpersonal relationships differently and may be antisocial at times. Also they are a skilled programmer, a talent they wish to hone.

History: They've lived in the city for a long time, and although they've visited the countryside nearby they've really wanted to see another country, land somewhere different and alien to them. It was never an option for them growing up, but through an increasing number of tutoring students they started saving up money, with which he could pay for a trip to Puerto Rico, one of the few available journeys not requiring a passport. He has few individuals he is invested in. He only knew his mother for a few years before she left country. His father, a businessman who left him nothing more than he could get away with, was never viewed by Matthew with anything other than contempt. The one person he knows and cares about most is Alan Harris, his best friend and on-off boyfriend. Their relationship is complex, and would likely make no sense to an outsider.

Other Info: Why, the gear they brought with them, of course. They have a deck of cards, a big laptop and a smartphone that they will do anything for, even though neither of them are still functional. They have a small half-eaten bag of jelly snakes. They are wearing a baggy grey shirt with short black pants as in the photograph.

Lemon Lime

Hi! I haven't been around in awhile but I'm dying to get back in the game and this one sounds like fun! Are you still seeking people? I don't want to bother you with a character sheet if you are keeping it limited to the amount of people. Thanks!  :-*

I'm the only person so far with a character sheet, if anything we're short of players. I'm sure you'll be welcome here.

Red Stella

Name: Margaret Sheppard (goes by Maggie)

Player ID: Red Stella

Job: Massage therapist.

Height: 168 cm
Weight: 63 kg
Hair Colour: Brown
Eye Colour: Blue
Build: Fit, not skinny.  Sufficient curves for a healthy girl.

Distinguishing marks: Thin scar on left forearm.

Age: 20
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Heterosexual.

Weaknesses: Dyslexia.  Men.  Curiosity.  Tight spaces (not claustrophobia - small spaces are fine, it's getting physically "stuck").

Likes: Men.  Music.  Swimming.  Shiny objects.  Men.  Good food.  Dogs.  Cats.
Dislikes: Tapioca.  Bullies.  Smoking.  Drunks.  Jealousy.

Personality: Maggie is generally friendly and easygoing.  Around strangers she can be quiet and hesitant at first, preferring to watch and get a read on them.  She would do almost anything for a friend/loved one.

She's kind by nature, but never confuse kindness for weakness.  She values people above material things and thinks jealousy is stupid.  Maggie loves good food, but drinks very little and rarely.

History: Working class upbringing, one older sister, one younger (by one year) brother.  Maggie has done work of some sort most of her life, as long as it didn't interfere with school.  She's been working as a massage therapist since she finished training almost a year ago and had just scored a great position at a high end medical spa in Puerto Rico, which is why she was on the flight.
Maggie has had neither time - due to school and work - nor the desire for any serious or long term relationships.  On the other hand, she does really enjoy sex and has a weakness for strong, dominant men.  She's had to be very discreet while living in her home town and was secretly looking forward to exploring, so to speak .

Hi Lemon. As Benvolio said, so far I have only received three character sheets, (two of which are now posted here). There's no upper limit on the number of players - there is a lower limit of twelve, because that way the usual 50% attrition rate will leave six players active, which is the minimum needed to keep the game going.

So, if you want to PM me a character sheet, please go ahead.

Please check out my latest A/A post.

Benvolio

Just wanted to point out that there is no mention of what characters are carrying with them on the character sheet. I expect due to the nature of a survival-based game this would be important. Is this the case or are players allowed to declare they have items whenever story appropriate? I can imagine either possibility having merits.

Chrystal

There is no mention of it deliberately. Because this is not a game where people are allowed to select "a knife, a magnifying glass and a book about edible plants" to take with them.

This is a game where everyone was screened by airport security to ensure they had nothing on them that could possibly be used as a weapon, even to the point of having their shoes x-rayed. They were all planning on spending time in some sun-filled resort, doing whatever they do, maybe relaxing on a beach, maybe studying the local inhabitants, maybe practising law... Whatever their reason for heading to the Caribbean, it was NOT with the intention of surviving on a deserted sub-tropical island.

When the plane crashed, they would be told to get out as quickly as possible. While one player did point out to me that it is instinctive for people to grab their bags, they would not have time to get anything from the overhead lockers. An aeroplane will float for a matter of minutes, possibly even seconds. Those people who got out onto the rafts would be those who didn't stop to try and save their possessions.

So, if anyone gives me a character sheet that lists a whole bunch of stuff that is clearly designed to aid in their survival, I will disallow the character!

Name: Sophie Ashley

Player ID: SlipperySue

Job: Croupier on cruise liners

Height: 171 cm
Weight: 53kg
Hair Colour: Dark brown
Eye Colour: Blue
Build: Sophie has a slim and athletic build, her arms and legs are toned but not muscular.

Distinguishing marks: Birthmarks, scars, tattoos etc Nil

Age: 24
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Bisexual but preference for women

Weaknesses: Fear of heights, Fear of spiders, mechanically inept

Likes: Blondes, Fresh Fruit, Sunbathing
Dislikes: Spiders, rude people, laziness

Personality: Sophie is a bubbly and vibrant person, she uses her personality and looks to earn tips to supplement her salary on the cruise liner.  She is also very active, spending time when in the gym at home or onboard the ship when not working.  Sophie has a degree of wanderlust, not liking to be in one place for too long.

History: Sophie joined the Navy when she left school thinking that she would see the world and that with lots of other women it was a dating agency that paid you for being a member.  However, during her initial training she soon realised that this was not the case. While she enjoyed the physical activity, she hated the petty discipline and left.  She had always been good with numbers, and she got a job with a book makers when she left the Navy.  While she was working there, one of her colleagues suggested that she apply for a croupier job at a casino that was opening.  This proved to be her key to world travel, after learning her trade in the casino, she applied to the cruise line for croupier work and was given a position on one of the lower vessels in the fleet.  Her results led to promotion and she was flying from New York to San Juan to take up a position on the flagship of the fleet, after someone broke a leg and had to be flown home.

Name: Jack Nissen

Player ID: bionic

Job: Finance Manager

Height: 180 cm (5'10/11)
Weight: 77 kg (170 lbs)
Hair Colour: Brown
Eye Colour: Green
Build: Slim/mildly athletic

Distinguishing marks: surgery scar along the abdomen from donating a kidney.

Age: 32
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Hetero

Weaknesses: trusting new people, admitting he's wrong,

Likes: numbers, routines, running, creature comforts, being right
Dislikes: obnoxious people, the trend of 'hardcore' obstacle races, bugs, being dirty

Personality: Jack is a no-nonsense office worker comfortable in his routine and has his life planned by week. He runs three times a week, packs a lunch except for Thursdays (reserved for networking lunches), volunteers at a nonprofit plating trees (wearing gloves of course) on Saturdays, and watches Bear Grylls' shows because he likes laughing at how fake it all feels. He can be difficult to work with, but eventually warms up to a team. He may not lead the most exciting life, but he knows where he's going and stability feels like success.

History: Coming from an average suburban upbringing, Jack rose through the company ranks after college ahead of his peers. Working hard to get where he is, he's grown accustomed to knowing the answer (and not being afraid to say so). He doesn't struggle to find dates, but a few relationships have failed after falling into a routine.

He spends his vacations in the same resort every year except this one as it was under renovation. On the advice (and prodding) of a coworker, he booked a flight deal to the Caribbean with barely any research - something he almost never does.

Other Info: Once had a pet rat that escaped ;)

This sounds like fun!  Give me a day or two to come up with a character, and hopefully everyone else is still interested in this.  I notice it's been a while since the original post.  Count me in though, and I'm glad I'm not too late to join in from the beginning, assuming this gets off the ground |(no pun intended.  :D)

Chrystal

Hi Sarah.

I'm still hopeful of getting the story off the ground and the setting to crash and sink, rather than the other way on....

So far I have four character sheets submitted here. That isn't enough. Most of the people who expressed an initial interest have backed out. Fairly normal for a group game on E...! I really need a minimum of ten character sheets to allow for a 50% attrition rate in players during the first week. That's assuming that everyone who has submitted a sheet is still interested... Which given the time scale I somehow doubt...

Anyway, by all means send me a character and if you want help choosing a picture I'll happily oblige.

Please check out my latest A/A post.
