There is a really odd song being used in a soft drink commercial. I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned it but it's "Suit" by Boom! Bap! Pow!

One of the actual lines is "You're so cute I wanna wear you like a suit, cause you'd look pretty good on me."

I had been thinking that was a bit "Silence of the Lambs", yeah.

The Dark Raven

"Vehicle" by the Ides of March.

Marching band staple about a creeper in a black sedan.

'I'm a wonderful man
And I'll take you to the nearest star...'

The Bogus Man by Roxy Music is one  of the most striking songs ever about a psycho stalker:

The bogus man is on his way
As fast as he can run
He's tired but he'll get to you
And shoot you with his gun

Focused his mind
On something he cared about
But it came out a shout
Just like before

The bogus man is at your heels
Now clutching at your coat
You must be quick now hurry up
He's scratching at your throat...

- set to a deceptively sly and shady funk/pop groove.

Good girl but bad  -- Proud sister of the amazing, blackberry-sweet Violet Girl

Come up to my kitchen, I'll show you my best recipes"

I was a senior in high school when this came out.  Like most other kids my age, we thought the song was so poignantly sweet, but I realized not too much later how he's saying...I can't live with you--and I can't live without you.  Bam.  Dysfunctional relationship.  Having gone through such a relationship..well...

You give yourself away...and you give yourself away...and you give...and you give...

My hands are tied
My body bruised, she's got me with
Nothing to win and
Nothing left to lose

That plaintive, wailing voice Bono uses is just...crushing.  I could barely listen to this song after high school, it made me long so much for a relationship I didn't have at the time.  Now I can barely listen to it because it brings up emotions from my marriage I'd much rather forget.  Much like Every Breath You Take, really, really twisted relationship stuff.

Annnnnd...while I was typing this, Every Breath You Take was the next song YouTube went to :/

I'm kinda surprised no one has mentioned Hungry Like the Wolf yet (or I'm completely blind).

To be honest, I'm a little surprised no one has mentioned 'Don't Fear the Reaper.'

I was coming here to say just that.

Frucking creepy song.

The sun and the rain don't die! They don't have to contemplate their mortality because they're not people.
If you're searching the lines for a point, well you've probably missed it; there was never anything there in the first place.

Lyron

Ha! I had that song vaguely stuck in my head for the past couple of weeks and didn't even think about it.

My SO just told me about one of "The Killers" songs. "Miss Atomic Bomb"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qok9Ialei4c

It a continuation of "Mr Brightside" which basically confirms that she did cheat on him and stuff. It has the same upbeatness to it but it really is sad. :(

For those who aren't familiar with "Mr Brightside"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gGdGFtwCNBE

Basically, he suspects his girlfriend is cheating on him but he keeps putting it down to being jealous and such. In the end, their relationship breaks down over it but it is never confirmed if she did cheat or not.

There was controversy recently over the song "Pumped Up Kicks" by a group called Foster the People.  Light, catchy, upbeat music, paired with words like these:

Lyrics
Robert's got a quick hand.
He'll look around the room,
he wont tell you his plan.
He's got a rolled cigarette
hanging out his mouth.
He's a cowboy kid.

Yeah! He found a six-shooter gun
in his dad's closet, with the box of fun things.
I don't even know what,
but he's coming for you. Yeah, He's coming for you!

All the other kids with the pumped up kicks,
You better run, better run, outrun my gun.
All the other kids with the pumped up kicks,
You better run, better run, faster than my bullet.

All the other kids with the pumped up kicks,
You better run, better run, outrun my gun.
All the other kids with the pumped up kicks,
You better run, better run, faster than my bullet.

Daddy works a long day.
He be coming home late, and he's coming home late.
And he's bringing me a surprise.
'cause dinner's in the kitchen and it's packed in ice

I've waited for a long time.
Yeah the sleight of my hand is now a quick-pull trigger.
I reason with my cigarette,
Then say, "Your hair's on fire, you must have lost your wits, yeah?"

All the other kids with the pumped up kicks,
You better run, better run, outrun my gun.
All the other kids with the pumped up kicks,
You better run, better run, faster than my bullet.

The song caused an uproar because of the way it glamorizes school shootings, though a quick search didn't turn up any statement from the group beyond the songwriter saying that he wrote it because he was concerned over school shootings and was trying to get into the head of a fictional perpetrator.

Thank you! I pointed this out to someone the first time I listened to it..I was like...wait running for bullets...what? And my friend said I was reading too much into it. I was like...I..really don't think i am..

But yeah this song...it is literally a song about a stalker who kills his stalkees boyfriend..

"Baby It's Cold Outside" -- so creepy. Though I've decided that it would be awesomely creep as the headlining song for the musical version of Stephen King's Misery. Seriously. Think about it.

To quote Key (of Key and Peele fame):

"Sounds kinda rape-y..."

I will say after having to listen to it in the store for over a season it's impossible to un-hear it.

Very upbeat song but when I actually listened to words I was like. "Holy shit, that really is depressing..."

Basically, a guy has been dumped and his friends are trying to get him to move on. They are literally telling him "She is just another girl." It really is sad. :(

I have to say that's the strangest interpretation of Eleanor Rigby I've ever seen in the spoiler.  I'd always interpreted the face 'in a jar by the door' as meaning the 'everything's alright' expression that people who are desperately unhappy will use in public.

Even so, the song is kind of disturbing - she's picking up the rice after a wedding, and the only person whom she seems to have any contact with (albeit posthumously) is the churchman who buries her.

Not sure about other cultures, but it is bad juju, superstition, whatever you want to call it, to pick up rice after a wedding. Something about it is cursed, the rise is supposed to draw all the bad stuff from the newly married.
