pdragon
Name: Mariko Kimari "Mari-Mari"
Home Region: Kalos
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Bi-sexual
Student DetailsMajor: Ace Trainer
Pokemon: Pangoro, Machoke, Sharpedo, Riolu
Strengths: High energy and determination. Has a close bond with each of her pokemon, and trains (and sometimes even tries to fight) beside them, allotting her a deep understanding of their strengths and weaknesses. Is very good at improvising and coming up with quick strategies on the fly. Her flashy style and personality allows her to throw her opponents off their game whilst maintaining her own confidence and control. Due to her emphasis on fighting type pokemon she excels at close ranged battles, and will often elect to teach her pokemon physical moves over special ones.
Weaknesses: Her strong pride can sometimes border on arrogance, overestimating her and her pokemons' capabilities. Because she sees herself as a fighter herself, she can sometimes act recklessly and put herself into the line of danger rather than just sitting back and letting her pokemon take the lead. Also because she focuses so much on physical attacks, she is lacking when it comes to range combat. While she can be very good at improvising things on the spot, she doesn't have much in the way of preparational strategy outside of "punch them in the face REALLY hard", thus if someone can catch her off guard early she can have a hard time adapting. She is also highly competitive, and hates losing, causing her to get easily heated when someone claims to be better than her, and cannot let a loss go until she gets a proper rematch.
Look/Appearance: 5'8, 145lbs. Has a slender but toned build with an ample bosom and wide, flared hips. She has lightly tanned skin, light blue-green eyes, and dark, blackish purple hair that she keeps styled up in a pompadour, giving her a somewhat thuggish look (though some would just describe it as "goofy"). She wears a heavily modified school uniform, set with a myriad of collectible pins and ties as accessories (with her collection of gym badges scattered throughout her ensemble to highlight her accomplishments). While the uniform comes with a fairly short skirt, she always wears form fitting spandex shorts underneath so that she can always move about freely without fear of being immodest.
Student HistoryPersonality: Mari is a bit of an enigma personality wise. Her greatest influence, her father, was originally in an infamous poke-gang when she was younger, before becoming a small town fighting type instructor. This instilled in her both her unique (and somewhat outdated) sense of style, as well as her drive and discipline when it comes to fighting and training. She tends to act and speak in eccentric ways, and is prone to spewing out odd catchphrases she comes up with, or reciting long winded monologues while in the middle of a battle. She has a strong love for music and dance, and will often begin dancing in place whenever she's not focused on anything in particular. She has a strong link with her pokemon, though it goes a bit beyond the typical bond of friendship trainers share. She almost treats her pokemon as if they are part of her "gang", and will often try to fight along side them as much as have them fight for her, believing that a true leader leads by example. She also tends to speak with her pokemon as if she can genuinely understand what they're saying (which she cannot), having entire drawn out, one sided conversations with them, often to comedic effect.
Background: There really isn't much to Mariko's story. While she would have loved to have a tragic and melodramatic history involving plenty of ancient blood feuds and murdered family members (just like in her favorite action dramas), in truth she was just a relatively normal girl growing up in Lumiose City. In fact the only real struggle she had growing up was not having the same interests as the other girls in her school, causing her to end up gravitating more towards the boys. For years Mariko was always considered just "one of the boys", and most of the guys were too intimidated by her toughness to even consider asking her out, however they did happily discuss their budding interest in other females, and it was during such talks that she realized her own attraction to girls. Again proving to be "one of the boys" Mariko happily joined in whenever her friends went to check girls out, swapped porno mags, and all the other shenanigans that came with puberty.
During middle school her friends started to fall into a more degenerate crowd, and Mariko followed straight in after them. And while she never was very good at being a rebel or causing chaos, she was damn good in a fight, and ended up becoming the group's go to girl for handling any messes that started getting out of hand. Fearing their daughter was going down the wrong path, her parents decided to try and get her involved in something constructive and disciplined, and thus she was enrolled in her father's pokemon dojo, her very first pokemon being an adorable yet fiery pancham.
However this alone wasn't enough to dissuade her from her delinquent life style, and while she was a quick learner and a dedicated student, once her lessons were done she would always immediately turn around and run off to meet with her friends and show off her new moves. Due to this the gang was inspired to get into pokemon together, and often got into big multi-man scraps with other neighborhood kids across the city, Mariko always being the rowdiest as she was never content to just let her pokemon do the fighting and would throw herself right at the opposing trainer whenever they did battle.
After building up a fair deal of street cred in Lumiose City, the group decided to try their luck at actually running the pokemon league. Together the journeyed across the region, facing new challengers and gym leaders alike. After toppling their 4th gym word began to spread of the traveling band of tenacious youngsters, known collectively as the "Gostars", earning themselves a not insignificant bit of notoriety. Eventually talk of their skills would attract the attention of a PTA scout, and when they came to interview the group Mariko was quickly singled out as the stand out member of the group. While hesitant at first to leave her friends behind, neither she nor they could deny the incredibly opportunity it presented, and spurred on by the supportive words of her friends she ultimately ended up accepting the invitation, promising to come back an even greater trainer than ever before, and making her friends promise that one of them would be waiting for her as the league champion by the time she got back.
