Note: We are recruiting!

Selective Recruitment for the following teams:

Unity Squad - (Closed)
The Thunderbolts - (Closed)
The Exiles - (Recruiting!) - Seeking: Sorcerer / Magician
Circle of Mystiks - (Closed)
X-Men - (Recruiting!) - Seeking: Sorcerer / Magician, Muscle
The Suicide Squad - (Recruiting!) - Seeking: Sneak, Tactician

If you are seeking a stable, solid, fun group of comic writers, then look no further. Sins has been a steady group game for two years(We made Big Board this year!) and I don't foresee that status changing at all - while the group is an always-evolving thing (with all of the bumps that come with that), the writers here are dedicated and I like to think generally enjoy the story - or, you know, they wouldn't be here. Sins has been, to my knowledge, Elliquiy's most long-running Crossover game and every writer that has come and gone has helped contribute to that status.

So, if you are looking for a solid group of writers that want to tell a good story in this crossover mess I have put together, then continue on.

And we hope to see a Character Sheet from you, soon.

Sins - Version 2.0 (AKA Not Another Marvel Reboot)

Following the destruction of Nathaniel Essex and the undoing of his plans to create, and control, the ultimate Mutation housed in the offspring of Jean Grey and Clark Kent, the world has changed. The security blanket SHIELD had woven around the world has fallen and nearly overnight, evil returned  - some would, and did, argue that evil never left, it simply hid from Director Fury's all-seeing eye (probably hung out on the blind side, let's be real).

With SHIELD's monopoly on world protection obviously fractured and breaking, teams are forming and reforming, in the case of some, to meet threats far and wide.

Where will your loyalty lie?

Team Archetypes

The Leader
The biggest of the shotcallers in the group. This character will play a large part in guiding the rest of their team through the tribulations of the story. The occassional speech may be required.

Examples: Captain America, Cyclops, Superman, Rick Flagg

The Tactician
Generally, the in-field shotcaller. The Tactician works closely with the leader and the group, at large, to make sure that everyone gets home alive. They will generally be the best source of information for an upcoming fight / possible opponents.

Examples: Batman, Deathstroke, Taskmaster, Cable

The Techie
Gadgets, come get your gadgets! These characters are in charge of the things that tend to go zap in the night, the construction of AIs, anything mechanical related. And, hey, they might fix your computer if you ask really, really nicely. Your scientist types also fit here.

Examples: Tony Stark, Bruce Banner, Hank McCoy, Batman (Because he does everything, ffs.)

The Muscle
Need something punched? These are your people. While not necesarily always the powerhouses in the group, these characters focus on physical aspects of their superhero personas.

Examples: Hulk, Lobo, Amazons, Batman (Ugh.)

The Sorcerer(ess)/Magician/Occultist
Spellflingers, charm workers, occult specialists. These characters don't just dabble in magic, they bathe in it.

Examples: John Constantine, Raven, Scarlet Witch, Dr.Strange, Zatanna Zatara (<3)

The Sneak
These characters focus on getting behind enemy lines and messing up all of the things. You never hear them coming, but you always tend to see them leaving - usually from the floor, assuming you're still conscious.

Examples: Catwoman, Wolverine (At times), Kitty Pryde, Black Widow

The Heart
Every group needs an emotional center - without these characters, the reason for the fight can be lost. These characters are guided by a particular sense of emotion, they tend to set the mood for fights and rally their teammates when the chips are down.

Examples: Starfire, Jean Grey, Miss Martian, Spider-Man

The Specialist
Jack of trade, master of some - sometimes. These characters do a few things quite well, but have a hard time fitting into any particular archetype sometimes due to their powerset, personality, etc.

Examples: Rogue, Magik, Batmen (Any of them, take your pick.), Spider-Man

The Teams

The Unity Squad – Still under the guidance of Captain Anastasia Rogers, the Unity Squad has redoubled its dedication to its main goal: world peace and order. In a world that has once again been thrown into chaos and conflict, Captain America hopes that the team’s presence can serve as a shelter from the storm.

The Thunderbolts – Led by the Green Goblin, the Thunderbolts made their presence known towards the end of Sinister’s existence. They are dedicated to finding balance between good and evil – they do the bad things, for the best reasons. Fielding some of the brightest minds (and deepest pockets) in the realms, they exist to mete out justice – and be a continuous thorn in the side of the Unity Squad. Obviously.

The X-Men – Kathryn Grayson had hope that SHIELD would be able to protect the world – if anyone was going to be awake at all times, it was going to be Nick Fury. Kitty has decided that the X-Men are done hiding in Limbo, and has debuted a new team of X-Men to remind the world that Mutants will always protect those in need of it.

The Exiles – After spending some time on the Thunderbolts, the being called Chromosome decided that her unique “gifts” would be better served helping to right wrongs across all of the dimensions within her sight. She is hoping to attract those with a spirit of adventure and the stomach to handle travelling dimensions and timestreams to protect worlds from wrong.

The Suicide Squad – When SHIELD ruled the world, Amanda Waller bit her tongue – and mostly through her cheek, waiting for Fury to drop the ball. And boy did he. Waller has been hiding a team of the worst under Fury’s nose, and now is the time to remind people that nothing turns a bad guy into a good guy quite like a brain-implanted promise of death.

The Circle of Mystiks – A coven consisting of the world’s powerful and magic-inclined. Still closely tied to SWORD, the Circle is dedicated to handling the threats most mortals don’t believe in. Under the guidance of the Scarlet Witch and Zatanna Zatara, this team will take back its post of guarding the world from boogeymen, ghosts, and John Constantine’s latest bad decision.

Sandbox Thread Breakdown - Read at your own risk, babbling ahead!
So, now that I've had two years to bat around ideas, I'm fairly set on opening this to a hybrid Sandbox - or maybe we're going full sandbox and I just don't know it yet.

Anyways.

I'm envisioning threads falling into camps:

The Main Thread - This will be where the main story is happening and where the most GM control is going to be exerted. Each team will have a Main Thread and there will, eventually, be Crossover Main Threads, once we’ve settled in as teams.

Side Scenes – Exactly what they are, these most likely will have impact on the Main Threads, but participation in them will be optional. GM guidance will be varied here – players will always be allowed to start side scenes, I just ask that you keep me in the loop if something major goes down.

One-Shot Missions – Small missions, may include the entire team, may not. Participation is not required. Think of these as little one shot smashings.

Past Scenes – Didn’t get to finish a scene and you really want to? Finish it here. Want to explore something that happened prior to the Main Thread? That will be here, too.

Holiday Events – Like Side Scenes, participation in these are optional and they will usually have some canon implications for the characters involved.

Solos – These are interactions between characters that aren’t Main Thread material, but would be considering canon for the characters. Picture your favorite superhero: they’ve probably been in a team title and a solo title at the same time. If you’re using the Sinsverse and it’s agreed upon canon, then write it here, please. What-If’s, are, of course, always welcome if you want to write them under the tag, too, but they’re not necessary. There will be no GM guidance in this area.

The Broom Closet – Smutsmutsmut. We’re writing on an erotic forum, so here will be the space for that. Canon shenanigans or otherwise, toss em’ here if they’re happening within the Sinsverse.

Open Spaces – Once we’ve moved into Big Game and have our own little board, my plan is to create tagged areas for each team and add cityscapes and whatnot. Once we’ve got our own space.

Version 1.0
The Avengers…

     The X-Men…

        The Justice League…

Teams came and went, it was a time where the world was protected from all manner of threat, but there was a disharmony in the bigger scene because these teams, while they worked quite well together, when they came together – things tended to fall apart. Until in a bid to keep the world’s various team of heroes from devolving into infighting, Nick Fury and Bruce Wayne set aside their differences in an effort to use their joint influence over the hero community to bring everyone together under the internationally-supported and funded banners of S.H.I.E.L.D. and S.W.O.R.D. – these organizations had once counted numerous heroes among their ranks, but that number had recently fallen off. Faced with the dissolution of their respective teams, some heroes chose to finally retire from the heroics they had become famous for, some chose to take on less action-oriented roles and seek support roles in the newly-staffed organizations.

Of course, there were those who didn’t care what team they protected the Earth under, as long as they were still allowed to protect it.

Decades flew by and the world knew an unprecedented age of peace in every sense of the word – no threat proved too great to overcome the truly combined might of the forces of good. As the peace wore on, more and more heroes retired to pursue new, civilian lives and, of course, begin families of their own. Some, like Steve Rogers, free to pursue the American Dream settled into a life away from all of the hustle and bustle of war with one of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s greatest operatives, and others, like Bruce Wayne, chose to continue grow old watching over the protect he began. It appeared as if everything that they had all been fighting for had finally become obtainable, and the world would be safe in the clumsy hands of humanity.

And then heroes began to vanish…

First, Superman’s disappearance from Metropolis’ sky was noted, and then, Steve Rogers, once known as Captain America, was taken during his morning run, the Black Panther vanished from his home in Wakanda and left the country in total chaos - and these were only some of the heroic disappearances that made headlines. Too many disappeared to keep track of, but it set S.W.O.R.D. and S.H.I.E.L.D. operatives all over the world into working overtime to try and track down the missing heroes – the world demanded answers.

It became clear that overtime, however, was not enough.

The first disturbance fell upon New York, in the middle of the afternoon: strange creatures wielding some of the powers of those who had vanished appeared in the city, going after anything they could their hands on. The attack was put down by a S.H.I.E.L.D. team.

After the first attack on New York, Nicholas Fury and Bruce Wayne gave the order to begin the assembling of a team armed with the power to combat this new threat.

At the head of this team would be Anastasia Rogers, the woman who was now known as Captain America – the identity she had picked up from her father, who was none other than Steve Rogers. The call went out over every network the international organization had access to and some channels that it didn’t, at least on paper.

The question, now: who would answer the call to arms?

...The Thunderbolts

...The Sinister Six

...The Rogues Gallery

Following the death of [REDACTED] and the disappearance of [REDACTED], SHIELD has begun to splinter and the cracks in their armor have become obvious to the world around it. Following the destruction of [REDACTED]'s secret base, the villains of the world have realized that it is time to take up their arms once more and remind the world that, at one point, it shuddered when they moved. They looked, initially inward, and a power vacuum began to take form.

Who would be the first to step completely back into the light?

Would it be Lex Luthor, old and grey, or perhaps one of the aged kingpins found in Arkham?

No, it would be the Green Goblin, with the support of Samantha Stark, who had once more taken up her father's power suit. After joining, for a moment, with Captain Anastasia Rogers' Unity Squad, Angelica Pyror realized that the world really was in need of villains - and it was she, who called the evil in the world to action, it was she who stood apart as a woman of action, a woman who was unafraid to stand before SHIELD and display it for what it was: weak and directionless after [REDACTED].

Unfortunately, Angelica's actions put into motion something that she could have not foreseen - call it youth's audacity that blinded her.

With the return of the Green Goblin, others took note and came out of hiding - the meteor base of the Mutant Brotherhood returned from its unknown orbit and there where whispers, suddenly, of activity in the Phantom Zone, small riots began to break out in corners of the world that had once been quiet and peaceful.

Chaos had returned to the world.

Angelica took responsibility for the things she unleashed and took up the mantle that had been presented to her long before she joined the SHIELD team: Leader of the Thunderbolts. With the Iron Maiden, the Winter Solider, and Lady Doom already under the aegis of the Thunderbolts, Angelica has put out a recruitment notice for those who cannot find solace in peace, but refuse to let the world plunge into total darkness.

The Thunderbolts have returned and justice has never had a more merciless set of avatars!

Still here? Great!

Here are the absolute basics:
  • My only request as far as parentage is that you are able to explain your character’s parentage as part of your background - and that is makes sense.
    • Once a parent is spoken for, they are off the market, so the speak. If two writers wish to be siblings, I'm cool with that as long as they've worked it out before the sheet is proposed.

  • For their first story arc, all characters are allowed four (4) powers. At the end of the arc, should you choose to continue on in the story, your character will be allowed to either add one (1) power or improve upon the powers they already have. I ask that your powers make sense for your character - and as always, my PM box is open for discussion.
  • Characters must be at least 18 years old.
  • For now, new writers will be limited to one (1) character. After consistency has been established, you will be allowed more. <3

* If you've got an intense interest in this game, there is no guarantee that the current rosters will stay in place. That being said, feel free to toss me a PM with the spot you'd be interested in, if it opens, and I'll toss you onto the Waiting List. <3

Damn it Life, I told myself I didn't want to join another superhero game, but this looks too cool to resist. :P

Could I snatch up the Sneak role?

I will...tentatively toss my hat in the ring ^^; Not sure what character I would make though, so if the last two slots fill up before I decide, maybe I'll catch you all next time around!

Right now... It's looking like Specialist or Muscle is open.

Offline vatovie

Hmm I have some ideas, One is Darwin with Super girl. Same powers as his dad but with a tendency to get kyrptonian powers in a fight. They come with the cost of a weakness though and can be very fleeting.

Or a the kid of John Constantine and Marvel's death. Dad died. Mom liked his spirit and kept him kicking. Dad liked mom. Now i'm here with a hell of a lot magic and a bag of tricks that makes Loki jealous.

One is Muscle other is a Magic/Sneak. Would have made a sheet but I have no clue which one I want to do. So, please throw opinions at me. :)

Muscle is definitely open for the taking, so I'd say Muscle.

Darwin and Super Girl is a really interesting idea. :)

Offline vatovie

Okay I'll get started on a sheet then. Also thanks. My mind first went to Darwin and death but that just normal end of Darwin's story line and also makes an unkillable death god so it was out pretty quick. Then I saw muscle was open and thought how to make Darwin's powers on a muscle and not make them broken as all hell. I came up with he can't reliably use them and looses them when he comes in contact with kyrptonite. Seemed like a fair win if the game would allow and Kyrptonians. :)

I think I'm going to go with a combination of Dr. Doom and Zatanna in the sorcerer slot. I'm still working on how that combination came into being, but I have a solid 12% of a plan.

So, I'm working on my sheet - and gonna drop the WIP here, as an example.

<3

==Basics==

Name: Anastasia Ann Rogers
Nicknames: Anya, Captain, Rogers, Annie, Ann, Ana
Aliases: Captain America (Formerly, The Blue Widow)
Gender: Female
Sexual Preference: Bi-Sexual
Relationship Status: Single
Age: 26

==Relationships==

Family
  • Steve Rogers (Father) - Former Avenger, Former SHIELD Operative, Formerly Captain America (MIA)
  • Natalia Rogers (Mother) - Former Avenger, Former SHIELD Operative, Black Widow (Currently Inactive)
  • James Buchanan "Bucky" Rogers (Brother) - Active SHIELD Operative (MIA)

Players
  • Black Panther - Early in Anya's career, she was assigned to be a military attaché for the American embassy in Wakanda and it was there that she met the royal heir. She enjoyed the Prince's company and conversation, although she was not aware exactly of who he was, simply that he came into the embassy quite a bit. During an attack on the embassy, Anya saved the Prince from what would have been a lethal spear thrown by the terrorist known as Man-Ape.
  • Spider-Man -
==Description==

Height: 5'8"
Weight: 130 lbs
Physical Description: Tall and firm, Anya's figure appears slight at first glance, but upon closer inspection, it is clear that the woman probably spends quite a bit of time in the gym - working for SHIELD is close enough. In the genetic lottery, she displays more of the Rogers traits than her mother is comfortable with, but don't let her blonde hair and blue eyes decieve you - she is the daughter of the accomplished Black Widow. Once engaged, Anya moves with precision and you'll be hard-pressed to find a better solider to have at your back than her. She has no tattoos or birth marks, but does have a largely scarred area on her back - a reminder of her time in Africa.

Personality Description: Raised in a house of retired SHIELD operatives and former Avengers, Anya was raised to believe that there was good in the world - she just needed to kick hard enough to knock it loose. Honest and genuine, loyal and centered, aware and stubborn, Anastasia has tempered her goodness with a lifetime of physical training - it's safe to say that she was never bullied at school. Not extactly a genius in the classroom, Anya graduated from private school towards the bottom of the high percentile of her graduating class and went into military service. Serving in the military only served to harden the core of Anastasia's personality and she excelled within its ranks, quickly climbing to the rank of Captain. Once the transition from military service to SHIELD was made, Director Fury began to groom her into the Captain that he desired - and it was under his tutelage that Anastasia learned how to keep secrets, acquired an amazing poker face, and wondered how her father ever made it within SHIELD's ranks.

Background/History: It was no secret what SHIELD operatives Black Widow and Captain America were going to be up to when they both handed in their resignations. After touring the world and the most well-guarded marriage of the century, the pair settled down and Natalia Rogers celebrated an impending pregnancy the year after she was married. Their first child was a girl - and 5 years later, Anastasia became an older sister to a boy named after the Winter Solider, James Barnes.

Anastasia had a very, very normal childhood: weekend grilling, family dinners on Sundays, she was expected to clean her room - oh, and she could keep up with her father as far as sparring was concerned. After watching her parents spar one evening, Anya attempted to copy her father's movement - simple punches and kicks - and executed them perfectly. Her parents encouraged her development of her skill and Anya quickly moved through martial arts trainer - and, of course, her parents continued to tutor her. After graduation, she joined the United States Army and the institution was overjoyed to have another Rogers among their ranks, especially one that so closely resembled her father.

In a shrewd movement to remind the world that the United States Army was still a military presence to be respected, Rogers was assigned to the Wakandan Embassy early in her military career - and it was there that she met the son of Wakanda's King, Black Panther, his son was a normal presence within the embassy. Although most of her unit tensely did their jobs, Anastasia enjoyed talking with the Prince, but also was very observant of the rules as far as fraternizing with the locals was concerned. The rulebook went out the window during an attack on the embassy by the Man-Ape, Wakanda's local opposition, and Anastasia kept the Prince close after they were separated from the rest of her unit by a massive explosion that nearly brought the embassy down upon them.  Unknowingly cornered by the terrorist, Anya heard the throw of the spear before it was falling upon the pair and threw herself beind the Prince. The blessed weapon carved its way through the armor and uniform she wore, but did not penetrate. Instead, it left Anya with a large scar that runs from one shoulder to the other.

Her heroics in the attack earned her honors both in the United States and in Wakanda - it also earned her a promotion.

After being made a Captain, Director Nicholas Fury of SHIELD, the organization that oversaw the international population of heroes and superpowered people, pulled enough favors to get Captain Rogers re-assigned to SHIELD - it was a lot of favors, the Army was not keen on letting another Captain Rogers slip through its fingers. Fury knew a leader when he saw one and Rogers was fast-forwarded through Operative training in SHIELD and put in command of her own detatchment of Agents that were tasked with rescuing superpowered people who had fallen into less than loving hands. At some point during this time, Steve passed on his shield to his daughter and Agent Anastasia Rogers took on the codename of Captain America, becoming the public face for SHIELD that it had been lacking since her father's retirement.

==The Special Stuff==

Roster Position: The Leader
Powers:

Photographic Memory and Reflexes - Born with the ability to mimic any kind of movement once she sees it, Anya's parents began her combat training at a very young age. Similar to the Taskmaster, Anya is able to learn by example, but what makes her a powerful foe is that she has continued to train that memory all of her life - while Anya is not gifted with any kind of metahuman powers, she is probably one of the best hand-to-hand combatants in the world.

The Solider's Life for Me - Like her father before her, Anya has earned her rank through military service and has transferred it to a life at SHIELD. This makes her a natural leader and has imbued her with a sense of dedication to her mission and her team.

Tactical Awareness - You do not grow up as the child of two SHIELD operatives, Avengers, and two of the greatest combat minds without learning a thing or two. Because she lacks the modifications that come from imbibing the Super Solider Serum, Anya has learned how best to read a battleground - although she prefers to study beforehand, she does not shy away from making the tough calls in the heat of the moment.

The International Spy Network - The Black Widow hasn't left much for her children to use, but one thing she has offered to Anya is her network of worldwide contacts and access to the underground and less than savory means that an accomplished spy like Natalia Romanova has used to get information throughout her career.

Skills: Combat Training, Weapons Training, Diplomacy, Computer Skills, Top Secret Security Clearance, Yankee-White Compartmented Security Clearance, Stealth, Group and Solo Operational Training, Foreign Languages (Russian)

Weaknesses: Fresh-baked apple pie and vanilla ice cream, donuts (particularly ones with red, white, and blue sprinkles), doing the "right" thing, stubbornness, a fear of being unable to live up to the legacy left behind by her parents.

Extras:

The Shield and Gauntlet - Captain America is not Captain without her shield! While she does not have the same super strength that her father has to throw the shield hard enough that it returns to her, what Anya does have is technology. There is a high-powered electromagnetic system built into her shield and within her right glove - a balanced homage to both of her parents with practical applications. Anytime Anya flexes her right hand, the shield will return to her hand if not stowed properly on her back- the max distance of efficiency for her electromagnetic set-up has yet to be put through max capacity testing, however, because Anya favors close quarters and hand-to-hand combat.

Costume Description: The stars and stripes - with modifications. Anastasia wears what you would expect Captain America to be seen in, but her use of the helmet varies - her father didn't really have to worry about his hair getting tangled. There are knives present around her thigh, they are rarely seen, but Rogers has been known to bring them out when in very close quarters.

Mine's almost done. Just need a good face claim. Not sure how to represent a 1/4 Black 1/4 mexican 1/2 Kryptonian. Tempted to just go with the actor who played the movie Darwin. So he looks like Darwin but not like an alien.  Any better ideas?

Nevermind found this guy. Kinda works well I think.

Now the question is either "Titantium" or  the Johnny cash version of "I Won't Back Down" as theme song.
