I'd like to see a small group game based around street-level superheroes with an over-arching plot.  I'd like a high level of detail in the writing, including setting, personalities, etc.

Violence: On a scale of "Pretty Pretty Pegasus" to "Ichi the Killer", I'd prefer something along the lines of "Deadpool"
Smut level: On a scale of "Nickelodeon" to 'Straight-up Pornography', I'd like somewhere along the line of "Showgirls" as far as frequency and eroticism.
Non-Con: More like "Red Shoe Diaries," less like torture porn.
Character Power Level: "Daredevil" or "Jessica Jones", maybe more Watchmen-esque minus Doc Manhattan.  Suicide Squad, even.  Ash vs. Evil Dead maybe.

Post length: 2 paragraphs per post, more if you're inspired.

Some possible settings: Post Civil-War Southwest/Southern US.  Contemporary New Orleans.  1990s fictional beach city.

Content: LGBT friendly

Mechanics: Light or with honest help.  Roleplay over roll-play, combats should be no more than 3-4 days worth of posts.

Please let me know if you'd be interested in running this-- Try to keep posts on this thread to a manageable level of just what you'd like to do-- I'd be good with anywhere from 2-4 protagonists, even if one is played by the storyteller if no Mary Sue/Gary Stu.

I would be fine with playing in this.  I tend to play female characters if that is an issue. I have wanted to do a street level non Marvel/DC super game for a while.

That's awesome.  I would certainly prefer that the story be set in its own, independent universe.

I should add that I would be willing to possibly "narrate" the setting, NPCs, etc. for this game, but I'd prefer there to be at least one co-GM, ST, narrator, whatnot to keep me in check.

I've been looking for something more street level and would be happy to write for a group of like minded folks.

Okay I'll GM this using the legendary and complex Risus rules available for sale at the price of FREE.

http://www222.pair.com/sjohn/downloads.htm#Risus

And these rules as add-ons.

http://www.risusiverse.com/home/optional-rules/skill-that-clich

Basically its rules light now Cliches will be like a class or area your good at this can include powers. Some examples say I was doing a armored hero a good set of clichés might be:

Battle Armored Suit 4 Dice (armor, fly with jet power, lasers, life support)
Inventive Genius 3 Dice (decipher alien tech, light bulb goes of in head when vital, enhance own tech)
Multi-Millionaire Playboy 3 Dice (always has money, lure in beautiful women, suave)

Its lower powered so no powers will be big and to have fun it will be set Mystery City think a city like in the Mystery Men and similar feel in 1980 an have fun with powers a mutant should for a cliché have a theme and abilities that fit its implied related qualities are covered in the example above the armor will have for example enhanced senses, various other weapons and devices just those stand out. Note your largely street level the armor won't deal well with shredding armor piercing rounds as specialty criminal ammo or magnetic attacks and hell even a regular higher end gun could hurt you.

Let me know if your interested.

Rules light or freeform are fine with me.  Since this was Ixy's idea I would like her to chime in on system v. freeform.

System is kind of a ,generous term, for RISUS.  :D

Crash

Heh.  I downloaded it and will look at it tonight, but ya I see what you mean.

Its more for number crunching a bit but keeping it simple and more comic book like. Teamwork and creativity in the game help a lot.

Ixy

I see the value of the Risus system from just having glanced over it, and how a fight that-- in DnD -- would take 2-3 hours would only take 5 or 6 turns.  However, for a forum game, I think 5 or 6 turns doesn't work well.

What if we used the guidelines to create our characters, then let the GM determine the combat outcome based on our input and, like, whatever rolls would be involved.  The first resolution available would be mutual agreement, but then contest anything else through tne GM.

Thoughts on that?

Well there are team dice pools and this gained by proper planning and setting up an engagement usually built up over the particular comic book series properly done you might get ample dice to recover lost cliché dice, boost attacks at key moments and counter enemies. Activated during the Big Finale with the major villain where you get the long and exciting epic battle. This encourages you to work together and do things like investigation and creating items from things you learn in game.

Ixy

So how would this work as a street-level game?  Would there be a point limit, or just a limited set of cliches to choose from?

I'd be interested in this too.

I'll download the ruleset and see where you guys go with this.  :)

Ixy

So what kind of characters are we thinking of?  Since we are still discussing rules but not decided yet.

Foxy DeVille

I have a jungle girl character I've been itching to play somewhere. She would have animal mimicry a la Vixen so she wouldn't be too powerful. If that doesn't fit the tone you're going for I have some other ideas.

Mostly no funky dice and generally power clichés say Power Armor would be toned down think more power harness with tech in it over Iron Man. I could also do a Watchman sort of game with masked vigilantes and few powers proper. But mostly its in the feel you often will need to investigate and do things to work to the big bad guy usually attached to an organization or group, single villains aren't usually very successful.

Ixy

I was thinking something like a good-gal gadgeteer.  Just about anything goes at this point, I'd think, so long as it's not "Super"

I would love to join a group roleplay with that theme. Not too familiar with systems and dice-rolling but I'm sure I will figure it out.

Interesting about contemporary New Orleans being an option.  Would certainly work with what is happening in the French Quarter these days.

Amberly

I guess I like the "fictional beach city", gives a bit more flexibility...and I do love the beach :-).

I agree with this a 1000 percent. I'd love join if there's still room. Would even be willing to co-gm, but rather not run it on my own.

They left their home of summer ease
Beneath the lowland's sheltering trees,
To seek, by ways unknown to all,
The promise of the waterfall.

Been looking at the new Daring Comics book for Fate system.
