Attention, eligible spacers, navigators, mechanics and engineers! The Laughing Dianoga, Wayfarer-class medium transport (Imperial Bureau of Ships and Services official designation TR77-114BHB-LR40) is currently seeking to take on new crew in all positions to run cargo along the Perlemian Trade Route. To apply, please contact Captain Dunn Mar. Jedi need not apply.

The notice gleams on the holo-board at bars and cantinas all across the Outer Rim- someone needs a crew, and they need it badly. Anywhere the Laughing Dianoga has been, the captain has left behind the same message- credits to those who would follow. The name Dunn Mar might be an unfamiliar one to most, but the Laughing Dianoga has a bit of a reputation of its own in certain circles. The humble Wayfarer had once been an active player in the smuggling scene along the Perlemian Trade Route almost twenty years past, but more recent tales of it had slowed down to barely a trickle. If this really was the same ship, the captain must be new to it- which might explain why he needs a crew.

Welcome, one and all! I am currently seeking 3-6 players to embark on an adventure through the Star Wars universe. Taking the role of smugglers, the group would essentially be interacting with each other on a regular basis while they perform their various cargo hauls and smuggling runs,  which I think could create plenty of room for exciting relationships. I only enforce a few simple rules-

 • No God Modding- The Cardinal Rule of RP really, but it's worth stating. Always leave room for other players to react to what you do, don't just state how they react to your action directly.
 • Spelling and Grammar- Now, I will not be expecting perfect grammar or spelling. I personally do most of my posting from a tablet, and am prone to missing when the device auto-corrects me or I otherwise make a mistake, but I generally spell check each post before submitting it. Additionally, when posting, I try my hardest to make sentences that follow the general rules of grammar, but this isn't as big as the spelling issue.
 • Post Length- I do not enforce a post length, but generally I expect about a paragraph in response- gauge your partners, if they wrote 3 paragraphs, give them more than a one-sentence response.
 • Post Frequency- like post length, I don't really police this too hard, but for the sake of your fellow players, I request that only players who can commit to 2-3 posts a week should apply. Slow responses can really bog down a game, and if it's found that the game is moving faster that you are, please let me know and we'll see what needs to be done.
Outside of that, that's pretty much all there is too it. I'll be taking the role of Dunn Mar, the new captain of the Laughing Dianoga, and will provide his character description below. Additionally, please use the skeleton below to format your character applications so that everyone can be more easily read and appropriately judged. This will not be a first-come, first-serve game, but will rather have more to do with how the new players will fit the party dynamic. All genders and sexualities are welcome!

Crew Members:

My Character-
Name: Dunn Mar
Gender: Male
Species: Human (Coruscanti)
Crew Position: Captain/Pilot
Personality: Dunn is, at his best, a strong-willed and capable pilot and negotiator, and trusting to boot. At his worst, however, he's stubborn and hot-headed, and sometimes his trust in others lands him in hot water. He has a self-professed weakness for "strays and runaways," and is always interested in making a quick couple credits.
Background: Born in the Coruscant under-city, Dunn spent the first half of his life completely unaware of what the sky looked like, and had no interest in the stars. At age 16, he and his friends snuck aboard a short-range cargo hauler that took them to Anaxes, where they got their first look at the outside world. Feeling that first jolt as they entered into hyperspace, Dunn found himself unable to resist the call of the stars, and began saving his money to leave Coruscant behind. Once he had enough money, he chartered a ship to the Outer Rim and began doing odd jobs, until he came into a vessel of his own, the Laughing Dianoga, in a game of chance.
Description/Picture: Dunn Mar

Name: Your name
Gender: Your gender
Species: Are you human or alien?
Crew Position: What do you do on the ship? Medic? Co-pilot? Gunner?
Personality: A brief description will do.
Background: Likewise, a brief description is enough
Description/Picture: Either a short description of your physical appearance, a picture of your character, or both.

Interest placed. :)

I'll work on a bit of a character sheet and maybe have it up tonight/tomorrow. :) Using my old Rodian character, as mentioned previously. :)

Rodian;

Erg. I should SO not get myself involved in another group game. But I've had one flame out before start, and two more are taking a while to get off the ground. So: tentative interest.

I know you want to go non-system, which is fine by me, but are you going to try to set up set roles for characters, and some sort of limited skills list or something?

ThisOneGal

Name: 'Shard'
Gender: Female
Species: Human (Unknown Homeworld)
Crew Position: Medic

Personality:
Generally honest and optimistic.
Worryingly good at lying, and there's something very wrong about how she holds a scalpel.
Has an affinity for droids.

Background:
A young stray that with a minor reputation among starship captains as an albatross.
Claims to be an orphan. Has no (valid) official documentation of any kind.
Speaks an unusually large number of languages.
Has worked on many ships as a medic/doctor; while her performance has always been exemplary, the vessels all met undesirable fates (which she avoided sharing).
She deflects questions about the source of her extensive medical training, and becomes uncharacteristically agitated when pressed.
Becomes extremely agitated when asked about 'September'.

Description/Picture:

Name: Melina Sprint
Gender: Female
Species: Human (Corellian)
Crew Position: Background NPC

Personality:
Confident and assured. Knows what she wants and that she'll get it.

Background:
An experienced not-smuggler, known badass, and captain of the Vermilion Limit.
Appears to be an old friend of Shard's. Does not work with her, although it's unclear if this is her decision or Shard's.
Probably knows what 'September' is, but isn't talking.

I figure this is probably best suited for Light/BDSM with the option for exotic-type characters. Beyond that, based on player interest, we have the option to go into NC, if people want to have run-ins with unscrupulous Imperial agents or rival gangs or what-have-you. I'm not a stranger to NC games, but I will likely avoid them unless the majority is up for it.

WhatLiesAbove

Name: Teh'kuno
Gender: Female
Species: Alien-Twi'lek
Crew Position: Mechanic
Personality: Quiet, very soft-spoken. Tries to be outspoken, but is definitely submissive despite her attempts to be forthcoming and strong.
Background: Teh'kuno is the unfortunate escapee of a Hutt slave house. Like many twi'leks, she had ended up being captured and sold off to a Hutt gang lord named Breevo. While growing up, Teh always seemed to be tinkering with things....droids, cameras, door locks. Breevo's head of security noticed early that the young twi'lek girl had a knack for mechanical things. And so he had her taught to become one of the best tinkerers on Hutta.

Throughout her life, she got the opportunity to work on a plethora of space craft....from simple speeders to Imperial escort ships. She often kept herself covered in grease, which in turned helped to keep her off of stages and down in the bilges of pleasure barges.

At 17, Teh'kuno escaped from Breevos clutches, by stealing one of his smaller craft. It landed her on Tatooine, where she was able to vanish, until seeing the advertisement for a need of crew for the Laughing Dainoga.
Description/Picture: Despite having a body to die for, Teh'kuno has done her level best to hide her looks under baggy mechanics clothes and grease. She is a true gear head, though the horrors she faced as a child are still seemed fresh in her mind, leaving her with a rather reserved smile.

Alright, a reasonably complete character is up.

The NPC character is there mostly 'cause I couldn't decide between the two images. She's intended as a tool the GM can use as much or as little as they want.

Here's a placeholder post for my character sheet. Gonna try and get it in tonight... Came down a bit ill feeling atm, so gonna wait for it to pass before doing longer posts. *nods*

Chi

Can't say no to Star Wars either. I'm on my phone at an appointment right now but will post a toon once I get home and go through my daddy's old swrpg d6 books for and idea for them. Are droids allowed as characters?

*snickers and now on wander for a bit* hey sweetie

Oh BTW I'm a walking SW dictionary for those that need way too much info on the original trilogy and a lot of the eu. God I'm so pathetic lol

Oh and what time period are we looking at? Post ANH, some time from the prequels to ANH, Old Republic from previous TPM or even earlier like around kotor?

Sorry my geek girl just fell out of my undies heehee

Need to clip her on better...

And also:

Name: Sha'Haine Borell

Gender: F

Species: Alien- Mirialan

Crew Position: Gunner and gunbunny

Personality: Unlike most Mirialans, who are quiet and meditative, 'Shae' is bubbly, outgoing, a bit of a ditz- and has a passion for weapons and things that go 'boom'. She also has a passionate hatred for slavers- not from personal experience, she will hasten to add, but just because it's wrong. Her race's connection to the Force expresses in her as a 'creepy feeling' when there are Force users nearby, and an almost uncanny luck as a shooter.

Background: Shae is still pretty young, and hasn't seen that much of the Galaxy, as her tattoos indicate to those who can read them. Irrepressable and undisciplined, she wasn't a good fit for military service, and her Force-sensitivity is fairly minor for one of her race, so she ultimately drifted into work as a security officer for trade delegations.  The constant talk bored her, though, so she jumped ship to look for something more exciting.  Running a trade route on an obsolete ship wasn't quite what she was looking for, but her money was running out, so she went back to doing what she knew best: shooting the kark out of anyone who got in the way of a deal.

Description/Picture:  Quite slender- it's a going joke that her guns are a lot bigger than she is. Keeps her hair pulled back sharply into a tight queue.

I'm loving the submissions so far, i think we'll have a hoot of a crew.

@Chi- yeah, I'm fine with droids generally speaking, and as far as era goes, I was thinking either somewhere in the 16-11 BBY range (post-RotS, pre-ANH) or something in the space between ESB and RotJ- the Empire is always a fun adversary, and I think those two time periods offer *just* the right level of instability to get away with a lot of hijinks.

Chi

Lots of female characters, i may have to cross over and play a guy for this heehee

I'm working character concepts ATM; I'd just like a final word on what category we're in before I commit

Landshark

gonna throw my hat in on this one. Every SW game ive come across hasnt worked out thus far. Looking at a Squib engineer/supply. His idea of engineering however is basically juryrigging  :P so the reel engineer will either hate or love him.

wander

I'm going to claim Astrogator as the ship role, is it cool to be back-up pilot also?

On the job they're best suited for support sniping and generally doing sneaky things where the crew needs someone who won't be caught or can fib their way into places they're not supposed to be.

I'm highly considering using the pic of the Rodian I posted above as my face-claim, as they seem to have most of the gear my boy actually has on him. :)

vanTheMad

Landshark

Name: Farradin Rosis
Gender: Male
Species: Alien-Squib
Crew Position: Quartermaster/supply and emergency engineer
Personality: Farradin is energetic to say the least. Always moving and talking in rapid spurts. He is chatty and annoying to most people as he will bug anyone about anything for pretty much any reason. His almost childlike attitude hides a shrewd and industrious business man. Not a thief but will come into possession of things people didn't realize they had given him. Mostly fearless he has no qualms with dealing with just about anyone or anything…except Ugors… he hates Ugors…their dirty thieves.
Background: Farradin was born on a mostly abandoned space station that got few visitors. As such he grew up knowing that everything had a price and a value. Just because you didn't have a need for 10k huck bolts didn't mean you didn't need them. Eventually his talent for finding and having the right stuff at the right time earned him a free trip off the station. From there he has leap frogged from one ship to the next using his skill and luck to keep one bucket of bolts flying after another.
Description/Picture:
Spoiler: Click to Show/Hide
Stands 3'4 and usually dressed in loose clothes with lots of pockets and a backpack full of miscellaneous treasures (junk)

Umm... your Rodian has a DLT-20 rifle? Or is that a 20a? I'd upgrade to a T-21 or something in between if you can't afford the 21 lol

Use an E-11. Theres a lot of them because every dead ST has one.  ;D
My Squib is gonna use a stun baton and a hold out blaster because stun batons are quiet and a hold out blaster is tiny
