I'm considering adding in Medicine +1 to replace a skill. I know it's not brilliant, but it's an additional boon. My in-game reasoning for the skill is linked to psychosurgery (brain hacking) and also I do want to have a play around with Gene-engineering, seeing as Mark 22 is a programmer at heart and tweaking genetic code is still tweaking code. :)

Sounds good. ^^

I'd suggest swapping out Deceive; since Mark 22 is supposed to be naive, it's odd he's got some skill at lying.

Okay.  Quick question before I get this all started.  What's the gender distribution on the applications right now?  I've seen mostly women...

There's one male in a male morph (Puppeteer), a male in a female Morph (Forklift), and a female in a futa morph (Krysta). Everyone else is a female in a female morph, I think (excluding the Pleasure Pods, who have sex switches. I think they're defaulting to female though).

So, basically, we have one physical guy (yes, I know in EP it's rude to ident by your body.  Get over it.), and one with a guy's set of equipment.

...are we about to star in Eclipse Phase feat. tentacles?

EDIT: Okay.  With what I've done so far, I've gotten two major ideas that would be boiled down into my High Concept, and thus would be the basis of the character.

Option A is the Adventurer-Xenoarchaeologist, or: The Closest Thing Mars Has to Indiana Jones (or if that's too much, The Indiana Jones of Mars).  Not precisely sure what his Trouble would be.  A couple of ideas I had for this particular concept was that they're a professor at one of the Martian universities, and that they're in Firewall because of something that happened elsewhere in the system.

Option B is a bit more complicated - so maybe I should just let my initial phrasing of the Concept speak for itself: Ex-Commonwealth X-Threat Risk Assessment Specialist.  In short, the guy belonged to Titan's military intelligence apparatus, and after he retired from active duty, was either given a desk clerk position at one of the Titanian embassies on Mars, or is part of the Titanian Security Police (who would be security for such places).  Not 100% on his Trouble, either, but I did have one idea: I Never Left.

One Aspect for her I know I want to have: People are Greedy, Selfish, and Egotistical, and That's on Their Good Days.  Or something like that.

I miss so much with sleep!

While born male Forklift tends to identify as whatever body he's in. They will claim it makes it easier to integrate with the Morph. Also means that with a fem body I can play with just about anyone if it gets to that. :p

<.<  >.>  Pretty sure The Closest Thing Mars Has to Indiana Jones requires a trouble of Why Did it Have to be Snakes!

Forklift does have +1 medicine. So while not the greatest medic can do some stuff.

and from my understanding Survival + Hardware can kinda do the work of the Cred skill for some stuff. Gathering up scrap and turning it into useful tools? If I'm wrong I can swap Survival out for something else.

Personal life has made it a bit hard for me to get motivated recently (whoo family illnesses!), but I'll try to get some better comments about people over the next few days. As for the cut, I was honestly just intending to go: "Eh, that's five or six good people, I'll stop the recruitment there." So if everybody looks exciting when I do my proper lookover, I'll probably make the cut there and start things rolling ASAP.

I have to say "Indiana Jones of Mars" sounds snappier to me. But clearly it would have to be "Why Did it Have to be Nanoswarms!?" Got to be a relevant fear, after all!

It could also be 'Why is it Always Nanoswarms?!', just to make it slightly easier to invoke, as well as compel.

That said, by my count we're at 7+ people already, so some people definitely are going to have to get cut, if the intention was to top out at 6.

...are we about to star in Eclipse Phase feat. tentacles?

Only if somebody brings an octomorph to the table. :P

Hmm, what do we think about these Aspects?

High Concept  Unrecovered Corporate Asset
TroubleYou'd Be Messed Up Too
OtherThe Lost Were The Future
OtherLiar, Liar
Morph CoreOriginal Futura
Morph DetailOn All The Drugs

I kind of do and don't like bumping Liar, Liar up to an Ego Aspect. On one hand, it is an Aspect I think is interesting enough to keep between bodies, and possibly show up in mesh interactions. On the other, I think it's more primarily tied to her Futura morph; in general, her being a member of the Lost is a secret. Hmm. On the gripping hand, having it tied to ego could make compels more interesting; compelling it would implicitly imply that someone knows her secret.

Bumping On All The Drugs down to the morph makes some sense; it's her body that has the drug glands, after all. Does have overlap with You'd Be Messed Up Too, but could play it out in such a way that they don't. Would also nicely simulate addiction at a meta level. As a player, I'd want the mechanical advantage the Aspect provides, so I'd track down morphs that I could get it for. As a character, Red would want a morph with the Aspect 'cause she's a freaking addict.

I've been reading the Atomic Robo RPG a lot lately, so my suggestion would be to combine the two and use Action Scientist as your High Concept. http://i.imgur.com/A5NGBww.png

They look alright; One thing that might be off is how Liar, Liar and Original Futura are somewhat linked (She's easily distrusted because She's a Futura) You might be able to combine them both with something like Dirty, Lying Futura.

Also, is Red a Tensing addict too?

Eh, I like having them separate. I really like Liar, Liar as an Aspect, and having her be an Original Futura is interesting enough on it's own. When I've toyed with FATE before, I've tended to make overloaded Aspects, so I'm trying to go simpler with this one.

I don't know what Tensing is. :P

As a point of reference, I'm using this sort of take on her addiction:

link

She's not addicted to the drugs themselves as she is the 'not dealing with my problems' aspect.
Her primary addiction is probably going to be Juice. Neem as a primary could be really interesting RP wise, but I'm not good enough at RPing/writing to pull that off. 'Person who giggles insanely while stabbing people' is simple enough I can get a handle on it. :P

EDIT: Hmm, apparently Elliquiy decided to re-link to a music video linked to earlier. Should be fixed now.

'Unrecovered Corporate Asset' doesn't really ring true to me as a High Concept.  It does do a pretty good job of reflecting the aspect of your character that you want it to represent, but it doesn't feel like the actual core of your character concept.  If you wouldn't mind a suggestion for something that I think could work a bit better...  'Fugitive Ex-Cognite Psi-Ops Agent', perhaps?

Given the logic you've provided, I think that taking 'Liar, Liar' as a morph aspect and having 'On All The Drugs' as an ego aspect would better reflect how you want this character to perform in-play, and then aside from that, your other aspects seem pretty good.

Eh, I don't really like the structure of the 'Fugitive Async Assassin' and 'Fugitive Ex-Cognite Psi-Ops Agent' Aspects. They're just... descriptions. There's no depth to it. And they feel artificial; like they were made by just stringing as many words together as possible. For the High Concept, I want to really drill down to the core of the character/what's interesting.

'Unrecovered Corporate Asset' is also interesting 'cause it implies that that's how others describe/think of her (at least the people she's had the most interaction with, ie her handlers at Cognite), and implies that that's how she thinks of herself, at least on an unconscious level. And I think that's useful, especially since she doesn't really have any characterization so far, just a list of stuff that's happened to her/she can do.

Also, I just like it on an aesthetic level. While 'unrecovered' is a word, the fluff keeps referring to her as a 'recovered asset'. It has shades of 'unperson' in there, and I like the implication that she was Recovered and then made Un-recovered. De-recovered might be better definition-wise, but unrecovered flows better.

All her other Ego Aspects build off of/can be tied to 'Unrecovered Corporate Asset'. 'You'd Be Messed Up Too' deals with the consequences, 'The Lost Were The Future' deals with the before, and 'Liar, Liar' ties into what she learned.

Speaking of 'Liar, Liar' and 'On All The Drugs'. I think it's more interesting if  'Liar, Liar' is an aspect of her personality, not just her Morph. While the negative side of it works really well as a Morph aspect, the positive is less so; I don't really see it being an Aspect someone else could use if they used her morph. The negative, sure, but the positive/useful side of it would be covered by the Attraction (Deceive) stunt. To me, 'Liar, Liar' is also a result her experience as a tool of Cognite; all Lost and all Futura are good liars, but Red is a particularly good/compulsive one.

As for 'On All The Drugs'. I really don't like it as an Ego Aspect. It overlaps too much with 'You'd Be Messed Up Too'. And I think it works better as a Morph Aspect. While many morphs can have drug glands, this one is noticeable for having a lot and using them. It also makes more sense that that Aspect can be transferred by switching bodies; the first thing anyone notices when they sleeve into her morph is just how many psychoactive substances are floating around inside of it. Especially since it doesn't have the Medichines stunt to clean them out.

Well, that was a lot of text for me to ask for advice than reject said advice. Hopefully what I've said makes sense.

Is Reiji still in, since he announced his intention to join before the cutoff and has already asked for advice on some of his character's aspects, or is it too late for him due to the fact that he doesn't have a character sheet submitted?

Jezabelle will be fine for this as well, provided a character sheet gets whipped together before we get things too far rolling!

Again, I'll do my best to do a character by character pass shortly as well. But my rough impression is that I like what I see and you all have put in a ton of great effort!

Just saw Underbarrel Seeker Launcher.  I might swap out the Nonlethal for that ^_^ especially since nonlethal doesn't mean much when you can just get a new Morph.

Jane's original build had that and demo charges for extra super-Killy fun. It lost out to ablative patches for making her less of a glass cannon. On the bright side, most of her refresh will go towards gear stunts whenever she can get them. She's the resident gear head!

Non-lethal and stun weapons make sense as a preferable method attack in EP... If you kill someone's morph, they can be re-uploaded from back-up into something new fairly quickly, even smashing their stack won't mean much if someone has a back-up on the Mesh somewhere...

However, if you stun someone and KO them, you can bind them up and suddenly you have a lot of actions to do whatever you need to against your target. Psychosurgery is something fun, if you don't want to sell your captured bounty into slavery or something like that for mad credits. Point being is their Ego will still be active and running their Mesh inserts, making a back-up reloaded into a new Morph somewhere else would be for them very illegal alpha forking.
