Hrm. You know what? Fuggit, I'll make Jane Bi. She's uh, probably not going to be boinking much at all if she gets accepted, though.

Background
Background
Krysta has an interesting perspective on pain.  She's died a total of seven times, and remembers each one in detail.  Two of those were a desire to see what a particular experience was like: suffocating in the vacuum of space and falling from a tremendous height.

It's not something that most people are willing to deal with, but her acceptance of it makes her a valuable commodity in a system where the only safety comes from the sweat and toil of those willing to accept and deal with pain.

Her existence tends to be that of a bodyguard, dying to keep others alive.  The pay tends to be very good, you make all kinds of friends, and she gets to experience a part of existence that most people aren't willing to handle.  Does it make her crazy that she considers that fun?

Anyone who spends more than a few days with her soon learns that she's impeccably loyal.  Death has no permanence anymore, but the bonds of one's word and the value of credits all maintain a strong power in the current age.  So long as her Cortical Stack is retrieved, all is well.

The sharp contrast to the loyalty of spoken words is her capricious heart, and any who spend the night with her should understand that her passion burns brightly but can fade just as quickly.  After a few failed attempts at romance, she's learned that she just can't maintain any sort of natural relationship, and often finds herself between the legs of anyone who catches her eye and shows interest in the pleasure that two bodies can share.

Of all the morphs she's tried out, her favorite is that of a Fury with a Futanari aspect.  Not only does she feel uncomfortable with the bulk and size of a male form, but the excessive amounts of testosterone cause the known problems of hyper-aggression which are beyond her control.  By contrast, while female bodies feel comfortable enough, sex in them just doesn't seem to be quite as enjoyable in her experience as when she's futanari.

Krysta works well with Firewall due to a natural desire to keep transhumanity safe, loyalty to her species and a willingness to die for the good of all.

Mild Consequence (2)---

Non-Lethal Techniques
Gain a +2 on Fight actions when fighting to subdue your opponent, be it in hand-to-hand or with less-lethal weapons like eelware implants and shock batons

Brave
You donít scare easily, and will face threats, intimidation, and certain bodily harm without flinching. You gain +2 with rolling to defend against intimidation and similar manipulation.

Situational Awareness
Youíre  very  good  at  maintaining  continuous  partial  awareness  of  the  goings-on  in  your  immediate environment. You have +2 to Notice rolls and other situations where this awareness is crucial, and cannot be given aspects like Distracted.

Reflex Boosters
The morph has lightning reflexes and is physically fast thanks to modifications to its nervous system, adrenal glands, or, if a synth, to its neural circuitry.
You can activate reflex boosters to gain a +2 to physical actions where enhanced neural speed and reaction time come into play.

Kinks
Krysta is really only interested in females, and does a terrible job at attempting any sorts of actual relationships.  None of that seriously affects her lusts, though, and most people who end up with her understand that a serious relationship isn't going to form as a result.

Sometimes, though, she likes to play around.  The System is a serious and unforgiving place in her experience, and the chance to escape into fantasy (dressing up, dominatrices, etc.) can be fun and stress-relieving.

I found Circadian Regulation on page 304 in the Core Book.  All it does is that you only sleep for 2 hours a night, but I love stuff like that.  If allowed, I'd love to take that one.

Alright, I've updated my charsheet to have a 'proper' backstory: https://elliquiy.com/forums/index.php?topic=242974.msg12001647#msg12001647

I've also worked the drug gland stuff back in from an oooold build. And also added a theme song, 'cause that was a good idea on FarFetched's part.

Also, I really like the idea of a Flat combat character. That's a take I haven't seen before. ^^
You should have more than 'Nondescript Flat' for you Morph Aspects though; surely there's something interesting about a Flat that's survived the Fall intact and umodified? Hell, even 'survived the Fall intact and umodified' would be an awesome Aspect. An original, pre-Fall flat is actually worth a crapton of money to the right people (if it's aged well). 'Pre-Fall Flat' would be a good Core Aspect.

I found Circadian Regulation on page 304 in the Core Book.  All it does is that you only sleep for 2 hours a night, but I love stuff like that.  If allowed, I'd love to take that one.

Circadian Rhythm should be fine as a Trait; I went and made up Drug Glads. Granted, I'm not the GM, but they're mechanically in-line with other Traits since you don't get any mechanical bonuses from them, just narrative ones.

I've noticed that I'm the only character sleeved in a male morph... And so many characters don't seem interested in men...

Red isn't opposed to sex with males; the Kinks section is just stuff she's/I'm particularly interested in.

Naturally hilarity, drama, and hijiinks ensue. My kind of RP! Sexuality isn't a very big part of Jane though. Heck, she only prefers tying partners up because she thinks they might stab her! She's got serious trust issues.

This is a legitimate concern with Red. :P (Not something that would actually happen in the RP, but I really like playing up the idea of an in-fiction 'Lost = Yandere - Dere' stereotype)

I like the idea of Red and Jane meeting because Jane (an unmodified Flat that survived the Fall) wanted to tie up and dominate a Futura (the failed 'future of humanity').

Any last minute tweaks for Mark 22, ThisOneGal?

I wanted to twiddle with his Aspects some, though I don't wanna fix what it isn't broken as I'm now kinda paranoid I'm not gonna make the cut! ^^;

Good point- I didn't really know if custom aspects were alright so I stuck with the basic one. She's now a "Museum-worthy Flat."

I'm not sure how well it fits for an overall theme, but I did just stumble across a song that inspired me to change one of my aspects from 'Lascivious Social Engineer' to 'Impulsive Async Femme Fatale'.

I'm not really a musically-inclined person, so the best I can usually do for finding theme songs is to start on Youtube at a soundtrack that's at least somewhat thematically related to a given character and then start combing through the related videos.

Ooo, I really like that one. I don't usually see the sax taking on a chorus role. Makes it sound very structured, despite being jazz.

Hmm, does anyone have a better term than 'assassin' for Red? Given that anyone worth killing is probably immortal, the demand probably isn't that high. Her primary use was probably more akin to espionage (sneak in, use Subliminal to force people to divulge secrets) than assassination.

Also need a better term for what Cognite did with her and the other Lost they took into custody (since which Psi Sleights they ended up with would essentially be random, you can't really have them all do the same job). That project also needs a name.

Operative/Operator sounds cool, but is possibly a little to 'tacticool' for my tastes. Also kinda too vague for an aspect, maybe. Infiltrator is kinda generic. Agent is too vague. Hmm.

Also of note, the group doesn't really have any scientist types, or connected types. There's a severe deficiency of skill in:

Civ Rep, Credits
Needed to get stuff mid mission, gain access to places. We can fake a lot, but having cash or knowing people is also really helpful. Also needed to buy replacement gear/morphs when ours get shot up/eaten.

Medicine
Needed to keep us going when things go wrong. If we can't recover from getting shredded once, that's bad.

X-Risks, Xeno-Contact
Needed to know how to handle weird stuff that's thrown at us beyond 'shoot at it'. Xeno-Contact covers the Exsugent Virus and the TITANs, and is explicitly the only skill that does. Since they are the 'primary bad guys' of the setting, that's a problem. And since out job is to eliminate X-Risks, a lack of knowledge there is also a problem.

As it is, we have a lot of combat capability, mesh capability, and infiltration capability, but not much else.

EDIT

I've changed Red's skills to:

+4 Deceive (+2), Willpower
+3 Athletics, Infiltrate, Kinesics
+2 Medicine, X-Risks, Xeno-Contact
+1 Investigate (+1), Notice (+2), Provoke, Somatics

That gives us +2 in Medicine, X-Risks, Xeno-Contact which is okay (Fair, to be precise), but not great. Should be good enough, but will need to boost with Invoking aspects or teamwork. Don't have much in the way of Civ Rep or Credits though.

I can use cover to create an advantage on Civ Rep and Credits and grant free +2s to those checks, most of the time.  Assuming I get in.  It probably wouldn't hurt to have somebody roll up a rich, well-connected doctor with the multitasking implant and a second personality in his head that's a more clinical scientist, though. :P

Looking over various corporate doublespeak terms, I'd say that what Cognite did was repossess some of their ruined assets in an attempt to recoup their losses, or something along those lines.

As for some other term to use instead of Assassin...  Well, from the sound of things, it seems like what Red mostly did was Industrial Espionage, which is also known as Corporate Spying.

Perhaps your high concept could be something like Former Hypercorp Spy, and your trouble or one of your other aspects could have the async abilities worked in?

Oh I love these, lemme list what comes off the top of my head.

A: "Professional Blackmailer"
B: "Snooping Courtesan"
C: "Data Retrieval Specialist"
D: "Mind Jockey"
E: "Master of Esperionage"

I could probably bump up Jane's Xeno-Contact score since she's fought the damn things. Everything else doesn't exactly fit her to a T, so that would have to be handled by someone else. Think you could handle Medicine, OneGal?

I've swapped the High concept over to 'Fugitive Async Operative' and added this to the background:

Quote
Jun's experience primarily consisted of industrial espionage, acquiring blackmail material, and wetwork. Occasionally it involved dealing with a TITAN outbreak or cleaning up a black budget project gone wrong, although these tended to be unpleasant surprises rather than objectives.

Can't decide if I like Operative or Spy more; Spy is probably more accurate, but suggests a more passive/long term role. I imagine her role as much more short term; Cognite was throwing stuff at a wall and seeing what would stick, as it were. So they ended up throwing her and the other 'recovered assets' at a bunch of shadowy, legally dubious things more or less randomly.

I could probably bump up Jane's Xeno-Contact score since she's fought the damn things. Everything else doesn't exactly fit her to a T, so that would have to be handled by someone else. Think you could handle Medicine, OneGal?

Hmm, could swap Medicine and Athletics around; had Athletics high so Red could move into mind-stabby range easily though.
Although could use medicine to create combat drug advantages to simulate higher athletics. Hmm. Might do that.

Mind Jockey is cool. Might work off of that.

I've updated Jane, bumping down her Hardware skill in favor of Xeno-Contacts. Because her Hardware is now so low, I've switched out her Demolition charges for Surveillance Bots. A sad loss, but those bots will make her Sousveillance stunt ideally grant a +2 infiltration at nearly all times, for a whopping +8 with Chameleon Cloak and her base +4 Infiltration. She's a regular commando!

Ehh Fair enough. We could probably use an ostensible "brains" of the outfit at this point.

EDIT: Came to a decision on Jane's stats
Skills
+4 Shoot, Infiltrate,
+3 Notice, Survival
+2 Athletics, Willpower, Xeno-Contact
+1 Eye Rep, Somatics, Pilot, Hardware, Investigation

That way, a scientist character could pick up the slack, or Red and Jane will have enough Xeno-knowhow between them to figure things out.

Hmm, swapping around my skills again. I think Athletics is more useful. It acts as general defense, and Infiltrate was probably not a highly ranked skill in her prior line of work. If she did her job properly, she should need to be sneaking around. And if things went wrong, contemporary sensor technology could probably easily find her, so being able to run would be better than being able to hide.

+4 Deceive (+2), Willpower
+3 Athletics, Kinesics, Medicine
+2 Infiltrate, X-Risks, Xeno-Contact
+1 Investigate (+1), Notice (+2), Provoke, Somatics

Aspects are still this though:

High Concept  Fugitive Async Operative
TroubleYou'd Be Messed Up Too
LoyaltyBecause Fuck Cognite
OtherThe Lost Were The Future

Still not totally happy with the High Concept. I really want 'Fugitive' or something link that in there, and I need to explicitly work her Async talents in somewhere (although that could be covered by The Lost Were The Future).
I like the Trouble, but it's kinda vague. Shows character, works against her, only really works for her with an explanation though; it isn't as self-contained as I'd like.
Loyalty is evocative, but only really ties to Cognite. Works for/against her, shows character, ties into background, but is just really narrow.
Really like the Other Aspect though. That one I'm happy with. Works for and against her, ties into background, and exhibits character.

I like 'On All The Drugs' as an Aspect. It sorta fills the same role as 'You'd Be Messed Up Too' though. Not sure which I like more.

High Concept  Unrecovered Corporate Asset
TroubleYou'd Be Messed Up Too / On All The Drugs
Other? ? ? / Unhappy Far-Off Things / It All Seemed Harmless
OtherThe Lost Were The Future

I think the issue with the Loyalty Aspect is that it's so wrapped up into the High Concept. Even if I just swap it for another 'Other' Aspect, still not sure what I want to to be. All the stuff I can think of works more as  Trouble. Could be good for getting Fate Points, I guess. Ones I've got listed are a little overly-poetic though. Could work in something related to TITANs or her limited-combat/support role, or more Async stuff. I want ot avoid Aspect overlap though.

Hmm, could leave one blank and fill it in during play, at GM discretion.

EDIT

Hmm, should list off all the things I think are relevant Aspect-wise.

Primary
Lost
Async
Fugitive
Spy

Secondary
Mental Issues
Drug glanding
Cognite

Lost and Aysnc are worked into The Lost Were The Future.
Fugitive, Spy, Cognite, and possibly Lost/Async are in Unrecovered Corporate Asset
Mental Issues, Drug glanding and possibly Lost/Async are in  You'd Be Messed Up Too.

Things that could be put into Aspects
TITAN experience
Science gone wrong experience
Experience/Personal history
Personal connections/NPCs
Personality traits
Sex stuff

Anyone got suggestions? I'll probably think of something.

I think Krysta has Civ Rep covered with a +3.  Credits is +2, not quite as good but still probably helpful.

I've considered taking the Patron aspect but not really sure what would be good in that regard.

Patron was really good in the original Eclipse Phase. Essentially, it gave you regular access to someone with way better connection than you. If converted to FATE, the effect was having access to a guy who had easy access to people/things with +5 rankings.

...Before people go around rearranging their skills too much, I should note that I'm currently trying to rope in somebody else for this game would be willing to play a doctor and/or scientist-type to help fill in a few of those big skill gaps...

Fair enough. :P
We can always change'em back though. I'm kinda liking this modified version of Red.

Ehh Fair enough. We could probably use an ostensible "brains" of the outfit at this point.

Yup.

That's why we need Doctor Octopus! He is both the heart and brains of this outfit.

Let it be said that some people just don't know when to give up...I like EP, and I like FATE, but EP FATE isn't necessarily something I was highly excited about after reading over the various changes that had been made to convert one system to the other.  However, the persistence of one, and the knowledge that the game is lacking someone who really understands (IE, has high X-Risk and Xeno skills) what the hell the crew is up against is enough to get me to at least try.  It won't be soon, but within the next day or so, I should be submitting a character application.

I'm considering adding in Medicine +1 to replace a skill. I know it's not brilliant, but it's an additional boon. My in-game reasoning for the skill is linked to psychosurgery (brain hacking) and also I do want to have a play around with Gene-engineering, seeing as Mark 22 is a programmer at heart and tweaking genetic code is still tweaking code. :)
