Very interested and very interested in front line combat.

Question though about the characters...

All female.... but yet you name Dwarves.

Does that mean you'd consider a Dwarf female?

Would it help if I made Khaz actually an assassin? I intend for her to be at least a capable soldier, not hiding behind the stairs or anything.

This sounds intriguing. Plus frontline fighters aren't my usual character and I've been looking to stretch out. Tentatively thinking of an elven chainsword specialist but you know how characters change from initial conception to actualisation.

If you'll have me that is.

I'll have you, but I'd reccomend against chainswords unless your character enjoys being shot, as guns are a thing.

Yeah, of course. All dwarves have beards, but female dwarves that live outside of the clan settlements tend to shave them to better fit in. If they're living outside the settlements they're kind of a 'rebel' anyways!

Yes, everyone is a capable soldier. Nobody's going to be staying behind and doing paperwork.

If you don't mind me asking, does this lift the demand for frontline-fighters enough?

Isn't that why we have the ship and the crew? To lay fire on the enemy while the front fighters fight? :D

I think the idea is we're a spec-ops team. Now, I could be totally wrong here, but the ship and crew are there to get us where we want to go, deposit us in relative secrecy at the LZ, then pick us up again after the mission at the extraction point?

As I said, I could be completely wrong...

Nada. Everyone can fight, of course. I'd just like to see someone who specializes in it to help round out the team, take the lead when things get hot, that sort of thing.

Sure, that's fine.

Yep, that's about it. That's why the group is small. To remain undetected for as long as possible. If they wanted big explosions and lots of gunfire they'd just send in the regular army.

Didn't two people just apply for that? I mean, I'm not going to fight it anymore if you're set on this, just curious.

Private Arana Silverbraids

Role: Front Duty
Age: 25
From: Dwarfhame
Bio:

"They're Empire forces Gramps... Can I shoot them? Can I, can I, pleaeaseee?"

Arana was practically jumping up and down in the small hut nestled against a mountain. She had never seen any Empire soldier but she had heard bad things about them. Enough to make her grab her granddad's homemade rifle off the rack and load it up.

"Quiet my child. You have to be subtle in delicate situations. We don't know how many they are, maybe th..."
"I can have them all! All of them! I will shoot them to Anvilmar if I have to!"

Outside a pig squeeled and the old dwarf pulled his granddaughter down with him to hide behind a cupboard. He looked at her and told her again not to shoot but to be quiet.

The young female dwarf was frustrated by her grandfather but she couldn't blame him. For years and years her brethren had isolated themselves from the world. There was war and it was creeping over the land like a slow moving virus, consuming everything it passes. Dwarfhame had not been reached yet and the snow dwarves had no reason to fear the war. There was nothing of interest for anybody nearby. At least that is what they believed. This Empire scouting party though seemed to suggest they had been wrong.

The rickety door of the hut was kicked in and three individuals stepped inside. Arana's heart was pounding in her throat. She was a well trained fighter but as her father, who had trained her well, had always told her, she lacked experience and patience. Nailbiting and moving from left to right, she sat next to her grandfather, trying to be as quiet as she could.

When the people inside the hut began tearing the place apart, the old dwarf stood up and got the attention. Arana had a hard time understanding the heavy accents but they spoke about wetznite and blueprints and then there was choas and noise. Her grandfather flew through the air and landed next to Arana. He groaned and moaned but was still alive.

"NOW can I shoot them?!"

Without waiting for the nod, Arana leapt up from behind the cupboard, pulled the trigger and landed next to her hammer. By the time the brain matter had landed on the table, Arana had taken her hammer and swung it at the next person. Before he had even realized his Empire brother's brain was scattered all across the small hut, his own teeth and fragments of jaw adorned the walls as well as the solid hammer shattered his face. Arana got another shot out at the third person waiting at the door but it missed.

There was a soft *twock* and the sound of an object piercing through air. Arana reloaded the boomstick with two more rounds and jumped to the door, almost too agile for a dwarf and fired two shots at the running shadow. Whether or not she hit, she didn't know. She wanted to pursue but the coughing of her granddad made her stop. The old dwarf was bleeding from a puncture in his chest. In his right hand he held the arrow that had struck him.

Word of her heroic deed went like wildfire and after having shown her skills to some authority guys, Arana was recruited for the Valkyries, armed with her grandfathers boomstick and the hammer that shattered an Empire's face.

Personality: Despite her height impairment, Rana is brave and fearless in battle. With her trusty double short barreled boomstick and a slightly oversized battle hammer on her back, she might look like a comedy character but she knows how to wield both of them with deadly force. She is never afraid to give her opinion, even without being asked. Despite her slightly awkward social skills and slightly loud appearance, Rana is friendly and open and always there for her friends. In the field and on the ground, she can be a great motivator for the team.

An assassin on crack, or someone who assassinates crack(s)?

J/K

So, Nitzy's job is to get them in. Khaz  bumps off the target, Kythia and Dasha's characters get them out again,  Lyn's character fixes anything that's broke and blows up anything that Nitzy can't open (Combat Engineers blow things up!)...

Presumably Yuli is at the back co-ordinating everything?

They expressed interest. I don't have any submitted characters for it.

Yuli is a survivalist. She'd be leading the team when it comes to dangerous terrain or having to do things like rappel or climb. She also has some combat ability and medical expertise. Where our combat expert would be working point, Yuli would be taking up the rear guard.

I'll probably hold off a day then, and instead spend tonight searching for face claims for both possibilities.

Lynn, I'll be playing a front line character but I think there is always room for another.

But overall you should play a character you want to play, not a character you have to play. That never works.

Well, thing is, I'm mixed. I had an initial idea, and then it transformed a bit, then it went back, and then it went back and forth a bit more, and now it's... Somewhere.

Nah, I just want to see her boobies... (  o  Y  o  )

If you cant choose between engineer and front-line soldier, why not mix it up and go for a front-line soldier with engineering skills? Or like I said, a combat engineer - they generally blow things up when needed, carry a few shaped charges and the like...

Yeah, I was planning on having a pistol equivalent as well. The logic was though that if we round a corner and bump in to guards the difference between range weapons and melee weapons disappears a little. I figured a spec ops team needed to be prepared for any eventuality, we have a personnel specialist after all and their skills rely on being close.

Obviously if you're saying no you're saying no but I reckon I can make it fit.

My character also has a melee weapon and a ranged. Although if the hammer is the same size as you, one might consider that ranged as well :)

My character has mostly melee weapons, as she tends to rely on not being seen to avoid being shot at! I would think she would have the equivalent from this universe of an AK47, and not be particularly good with it, and prefer not to use it anyway because it gives away her position when fired.

Yay! Thanks :D Was actually great fun writing it.

Would you (and the others) be okay with it if Arana is slightly over the top? Like kinda described in her bio?
